Happy tenth anniversary to this comic. I just learned that it’s still being shared constantly on Tumblr. I don’t totally understand why people like it so much, but I like it too.

at long last I have tried my hand at a human design for Jax >_>
I'm not 100% settled on anything yet but he just gives me 2010s lazy wannabe edgelord and chronic hoodie wearer energy
worth noting: just like for my Zooble and Gangle designs, I didn't aim for a direct translation of their circus avatar designs so much as an attempt to do a more realistic "what they could've looked like pre-circus" concept.
I'm genuinely going insane after that episode
GEE FRISK HOW COME YOU GOATMOM LETS YOU HAVE SO MANY PARENTS

yeah that would be friday
When you understand that kids and teenagers being salty about literary symbolic analysis comes from a very real place of annoyance and frustration at some teachers for being over-bearing and pretentious in their projecting of symbolism onto every facet of a story but you also understand that literary analysis and critical thinking in regards to symbolism is extremely important and deserves to be not only taught in schools, but actively used by writers when examining their own work to see if they might have used symbolism unintentionally and to make sure that they are using symbolism effectively:
When you understand that a lot of the reaction against literary symbolism is because we don’t educate about symbolism as a communication form (people have historically used x symbol to mean y) and instead is taught as a fact (x symbol means y) so it strips analysis of any relevance to the world or other texts AND we don’t teach tropes/archetypes/genres from a young age so students are being exposed to literary analysis for the first time as 13-16 year olds and rightfully feel like it’s been made up
Delicious. Finally a good fucking addition.
When you become a teacher and you realise that the reason teenagers don’t like literary analysis in English class is because they’re forced to try and decode the ‘right’ analysis that exists in their teacher’s head and are spoon-fed small, language-based points that can easily fit into an exam answer because teachers don’t want to risk allowing multiple, sometimes imperfect interpretations in their classroom that might foster a love of reading because they’re too concerned with teaching exam technique:
When you realise that the system is set up like this because so much pressure is placed on exam results as the only metric of school success and frequently determine the amount of funding a school receives, which means that poorer schools which are frequently low-performing desperately double down on the teaching method above:
When you realise all of this is supported by a Conservative government because they haven’t bothered to read any pedagogical research published in the last fifty years and think that school should be ‘hard’ in order to ‘weed out the clever ones’ because they can’t imagine a classroom functioning in a way other than the shitty private schools they went to in the 70s:
FINALLY. ANOTHER GOOD ADDITION. DELICIOUS.
Yesterday the 12th of May was Fibromyalgia awareness day. I'm a little late uploading it, but spreading awareness is being done nonetheless. Lots of love for my chronic pain people!! <3
[Art description: An infographic titled, ‘I Have Fibromyalgia.’ consisting of several panels on light purple backgrounds with dark purple frames. Descriptions follow.
1. An uncoloured drawing of OP, a thin genderflui person with short hair, a NASA hoodie, and forearm crutches. Text floating around the person identifies him as ‘me’ and the crutches as ‘my babies „Jessie & James“.’ The title and subheading read, ‘I have Fibromyalgia. And since it’s Fibro-awareness day, I thought it’d inform on my disabling condition.’ 2. The panel title is, ‘What is Fibromyalgia and what are its symptoms?’ The art shows OP lying on its back with red coils drawn to show pain. An arrow points to the person with text that says, ‘His ass is (in all caps) not (end caps) getting out of bed.’ The panel text reads: The term „Fibromyalgia“ means „pain in muscles and fibrous tissues“ (tendons and ligaments etc.). The condition itself is chronic and causes widespread pain and stiffness throughout the body. This is also accompanied with chronic/generalized fatigue as well. It has even been studied that Fibromyalgia causes neuroinflammatory mechanisms in the brain, helping the further understanding that Fibromyalgia isn’t (in all caps) just (end caps) pain, but actively affects the persons nerves and/or nervous system. (Source: Research published in a 2019 issue of „Brain, Behaviour and Immunity“) 3. Large text reads: Fibromyalgya comes with a variety of symptoms that affected people experience, but here are the main ones: - pain and stiffness in joints, muscles, all over the body - Generalized/Chronic fatigue - Depression and anxiety - Insomnia, sleeping issues - Cognitive disturbances like „Fibro-fog“ - Migranes - Issues with IBS and/or bladder . . . And much more. The panel art shows OP from the hips up, with more red pain squiggles drawn on her entire body. 4. Large text reads, ‘Fibromyalgia occurs in about 2-5% of the general population, affecting 1 in 20 people globally.’ Art shows 29 stick figures, with one coloured differently. In the lower right corner is a drawing of OP in its hoodie pointing to the stick figures. 5. Large text reads, ‘I received my Fibromyalgia diagnosis this year after probably years of not knownig what my struggles were caused by.’ The art shows OP in his hoodie from behind looking away from the viewer. 6. Large text reads, ‘But even with a diagnosis, I was judged.’ The art shows OP grimacing at a set of three jagged yellow speech bubbles that say: It’s probably just the weather! Have you tried going outside more? It isn’t even (in all caps) real (end caps). 7. Large text reads, ‘Countless amounts of Blood tests . . . That always returned negative.’ The art shows a butterfly needle attached to a long tube. 8. This panel is in inverted colours, with purple lines drawn on black. The text reads, ‘Dozens of hours spent in bed . . .’ The art shows OP lying in bed with her hands folded over its chest and an unhappy expression. 9. Large text reads, ‘My pain and fatigue made it hard for me to function normally, resulting to the use of mobility aids.’ The art shows a wheelchair and a pair of forearm crutches. 10. Large text reads, ‘Accepting my condition, which will permanently affect me, wasn’t easy. And it still is hard to grasp. But deep down I’m glad to know that my struggles are real, that I can seek out help, that they aren’t imagined. The art shows OP smiling and making a hand heart as text next to him says, ‘your struggles are real!’ and ‘you’re not crazy or sensitive!’ \End descriptions]
A friend of mine was dignosed with Fibromyalgia, and I had to fight off so many comments from my parents and friends about how much pain they were in.
The thing is I saw them on the days they were in extreme pain, where they couldn't even do their hobbies. Where I helped with heat packs and massages. Plus there's the mental struggle of having to deal with knowing you are in chronic pain is intense, and chronic pain actually changes your bodies biochemistry.
Even after seeing it, it's so easy to fall into the rhetoric that everyone else has. Do more exercise and do more you'll feel better! I had no idea how to actually help them, and watching them in pain day after day was hard to see. At times it felt like they weren't doing anything to help themselves. But they were trying to manage their pain the best they could.
That's why visibility is so important, knowledge is important. We have to learn MORE about this stuff, and not make snap judgements.
Do you write music with the view of being politically active and delivering a message or does it just happen and the rest follows?
ALL THINGS ARE INTERCONNECTED SO DEEPLY SO AS TO BE IMPOSSIBLE TO DILENIATE IN ANY MEANINGFUL MEANNER. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO INTERACT WITH THESE CONNECTIONS BUT THAT DOESNT MEAN THEY DO NOT EXIST
The name of this creature is YOTAcat or POTOOcat.
This creature is a combination of Yotaka (potoo) and cat.
His true identity is one of an alien reconnaissance unit that plans to invade the earth.
His body can change its shape at will by copying other creatures and objects.
When he came to Earth, he first tried to copy the appearance of the planet's main life form.
However, the first thing he saw there was a cat. He decided that the creature was the main life form and tried to copy the cat's form.
However, by some accident, he also copied the information of Potoo, and his body became a chimera of cat and Potoo.
What was even more unexpected for these aliens was that once they copied the earth creatures, the original spirit invaded their psyche.
His spirit was about to be taken over by cats and POTOO!
The human who found the strange creature brought it home out of curiosity. Not knowing it was a vicious alien.......
Confirmed creature post
*You decide to trust someone you’ve never met. *you decide to make a promise to a stranger.
My first submission for @sorielweek. Today’s theme is trust and I thought it’s a strong factor of their relationship so I wanted to draw something touching.
the problem with autism is sometimes you want to do something (brave) but you need someone to gently walk you through each step so you know what will happen. and people don’t like doing that
i had to phone a taxi today, scary
every time i see this post i think of that person who posted on reddit that they wanted to go to subway for the first time but they were scared they would say the wrong thing so someone gave them step by step instructions for the entire process and what all the choices would be and when they would ask what question and i just think
someone will
someone out there will see you and say "yes. the world is scary. but let me hold your hand and show you how to do it anyways"
everyone needs that someone, and everyone can be that someone
The subreddit r/explainlikeimscared is a surprisingly good resource for this. People are always very kind and thorough from what I've seen, and I spend a decent amount of time there giving walkthroughs and answering questions when I know the process.
i can’t believe i fell for it
This was actually pretty clever
This is some next generation bullshit fuck me
I want you all to know that i hate everyone
I love it

Blade Runner: Black Out 2022 (2017)
I dream of one day being able to craft characters as vividly and efficiently as Billy Joel in “Piano Man.”
Paul “the real-estate novelist”. Three words! That’s all we need to build a complete picture of this man’s personality and history. And then it just rounds out the picture with “never had time for a wife”.
And we don’t even pause a beat before jumping to the equally vivid tragedy of “Davy who’s still in the navy and probably will be for life.”
And these two are talking together! Because of course they are, these kindred souls stuck in their lives of mediocrity.
The whole song’s nothing but lightning-fast character sketches. The old man whose song is “sad and sweet and knew it complete when I wore a younger man’s clothes.”
John at the bar, so firmly established as cheerful and friendly and exuberant before the 180 turn to “Bill, I believe this is killing me.”
The waitress practicing politics.
Even the businessmen “sharing a drink they call loneliness, but it’s better than drinking alone.”
All these tiny little tragicomic figures gathered around a bar’s piano. Sketched in five minutes and thirty-nine seconds–and that’s counting the choruses and harmonica breaks.
I dunno, I just think about it every time I hear the song and think he deserves more credit for it.
Fan of both
