An alternative transformation theory . . .

So the Rock of Ages theory is making a lot of sense to me, but I have an alternative theory that came to me in a nap dream.

I don't remember the plot of the dream, but I do remember that in it Chester was balding and going gray, and he was one day he was dying his hair and using some rogain while Grace was doing (I think) a video or a livestream (?). But something happened where Grace needed his help or opinion for a minute. So he came into the room, but he had the hair shtuff in his hair, and he was kind of angry that everyone was seeing him like that.

The end. I don't remember what happened next.

It was one of those weird dreams where it blends in with reality, so when I was on twitter today, I honestly was questioning whether Chester was balding.

I just find it ironic that all this hate erupts after ( or slightly before, idk?) one of the best Grace videos of the year. I just loved her Halloween costumes this year. I remember late spring and early summer (due to the incomparable HeyUSA, of course) having weaker videos. But I just don't understand why people are complaining when the last couple months have greatly rebounded from the weaker patch. Of course, I would love 5 It's Grace videos a week, but I also would love the new season of Sherlock to be out already, but sometimes less is more!

What is your take on Grace and Hannah's videos not being as good as they used to be?

I’m going to apologise to the mobile users because this is going to take you some time to scroll through, I’m afraid. Thoughts and feelings:

There’s been quite a number of people saying that both Hannah and Grace have changed, that they no longer put as much effort in their videos as they used to, that the videos are basically a means to plug their own brand’s products, etcetera.

Have their videos changed? Yes. Do they plug their brand? Yes. Are we, as members of their fan base/community, entitled to say that out loud and state that we liked the old stuff better? Of course we are. The only thing is that some people seem unable to take this in their stride. Elaboration:

Hannah started out on YouTube accidentally and her initial video idea is basically to get wasted on camera and produce inedible food. While that was hilarious to watch, it’s not a viable career to just do that. Throughout the years, she’s added a lot of things onto that: collaborations, worldwide volunteering, and a book deal. She’s added YourHarto, which is a galaxy apart from getting shitfaced in a kitchen. She’s become way more famous, she makes TV appearances, she is active within the LGBT+ community, the girl gets around. If getting sponsorship/plugging brands such as Audible, Club W and her own book is a lucrative thing to do for her - why shouldn’t she? And why do some people seem to care so much about a banner and a couple of seconds per video? If I wrote a book or got paid money by a company to mention their brand, I would promote the living shit out of it. I would talk about it 24/7, because getting a book out is a huge deal. Getting people to read books is a huge deal. Getting people to drink wine is, well, a help to refine their palette. She only promotes things she supports 100%, so what’s the harm in that, really? Also - she has to make a living. Having a ‘the drunk girl’ stamp is not going to land you a lot of business proposals, so of course she’s got to expand her brand and do other things. And who knows, maybe going through a bottle of booze in a few hours is not a viable pastime if you have other obligations and meetings and collaborations throughout the week.

Reblogging because this a great reply. Also, while I do think Grace went through a little but of a dry patch with her main channel earlier this year, I know it was because she was sooo busy.

I think all of the girls have been making awesome videos this fall (and august too). Since Grace went down to 3/week, she has not had a weak video IMO.

He's not. Do you consider Alfie part if the Zoella brand? Is Josh a part of Colleen's brand? Etc. I say no. They are part of each other's lives, however.

Grace is Grace, and Chester is Chester. I like the work they do independently of each other on its own merits. But of course there will be selfies on Instagram, and of course he will be in Fridiary because those are snippets of her life, and he is a part of her life.

And I love that we get to see some of that.
