Asking for directions

been fighting art block, drew this quick 15 min. fanart to try to combat it. i was absolutely enthralled by jordan peele’s “nope”, and most of all the creature! a recent article revealed some science behind jean jacket and the possibility of other members of the genus, so i tried my hand at designing those specualtive species. hope you guys enjoy!

We recently discovered a fish at the bottom of the Pacific that appeared to have some sort of symbiotic relationship with a yet undiscovered siphonophore. Our pending names are Aspicientis deum for the fish and Nolite timere for its companion organism. The “wheels” stun anything that comes too close, even animals larger than A. deum, which is approximately 2.5 m in length. The only known specimen, pictures here, was discovered near a whale fall where we soon found another new species.

At the whale fall, we found more N. timere surrounding a school of fish that some compared to a column of fire. Coming too close disrupted the ROV footage.

A single specimen was captured from the school, although it quickly died. Despite its tiny size and unassuming appearance, everyone who handled it described an overwhelming feeling of dread. No one has proposed a name yet; someone said that we shouldn’t be so filled with hubris as to tell a god what to call itself.

Soooo I entered a fish designing contest and went ham making a fish god WHOOPS! I thought it’d be fun to take biblical descriptions of angels/god and apply them to fish <3 A. deum is based off coelacanths + a few other long-lived organisms for pattern inspiration, and the god fish is based off haikouichthys, the first known fish!!

Shinzo Abe was a disgusting piece of shit and war criminal. He would never apologize to the victims in his life, but let us never forget what a wretched man he was. Let this be how we remember him. Serve as a reminder that, a deep, sincere apology was, and still is , owed to the victims but he was too much of a disgusting, war crimes apologist, rancid price of shit to give them most basic apology owed to them from the Japanese government.

May he burn in hell, and his name be remembered for the bastard he was.

the wildest part of the current event is that a lot of people are about to find out about shinzo abe's actual politics and that he's not just the funny haha "please have sex" meme man

covered up sexual assault allegations concerning his biographer

a right-wing elementary school with ties to nippon kaigi was going to be named after him (the school's imperialist curriculum teaches "alternative history" about WW2); it turned out that abe had helped them get their prime land in what was previously a public-owned area illegally

following this the abe government passed an anti-terrorism bill giving the police an alarming amount of new powers and drastically expanding the definition of "social media crime" as well as cracking down on whistleblowers (look up "criminal-conspiracy law")

had close ties with certain newspapers to the point you'd call them his mouthpieces, which ran smear campaigns against dissenters (yomiuri shinbun is a well-known one)

he and many members of his cabinet are/were members of nippon kaigi, which can loosely be defined as a shintoist-imperialist political cult

his party blames gay people for low birth rates and women in the workforce for stagnating wages, although abe himself liked to talk about "womenomics"

"taxes are wasted on gay people because they can't breed" - LDP member

spent his entire career pushing for abolition of japan's post-war pacifist constitution despite overwhelming public resistance
