Heritage Celebration Soccer Tournament

The Heritage month was celebrated in meaning and in style as we successfully hosted the first edition of Heritage Celebration Soccer Tournament at the Kliptown grounds in Soweto. The top 6 senior team soccer challenge was a two day thriller tournament filled with the best entertainment of football. One of our biggest cultural events in South Africa is football, people felt honored and entertained as they came out in unity to support their favorite local teams. The soccer event proved how the culture of football in South Africa correlates and embrace our cultural diversity as a nation. The tournament started on the 21st and ended on the 22nd of September 2019.

Our aim for the tournament was to bring people together in celebration of our cultures, bring career changing opportunities to football teams and a great experience to everyone participating in the event. The initiative of constantly organizing and hosting such events, helps us to slowly shape and change our communities by removing oppression, depression and community anger from young people so that we can impart happiness, opportunities, knowledge and strength. Jabulani Tlotlwe a Kliptown native who also came to support his favorite team said “I really enjoyed the soccer tournament and I had the best time with my friends, its events like these that brings us great childhood experiences as we grow to become better people”. The top six teams that were part of this soccer challenge are namely Bhurundi FC, Sneke Movers FC, Black Bees FC, BH Stars, Ngulube FC and Muyexe FC.

Bhurundi FC were crowned the champions of the 2019 Heritage Celebration Soccer Tournament as they thumbed Ngulube FC 2-1 in the finals. The 3 goal thriller was a very entertaining game and with the numbers of people who were present to support the final match, no one was willing to lose the game butn unfortunately there had to be one winner at the end. Siyeza Hlobo the coach of Bhurundi commented after the game by saying “We came prepared because we knew that the game was not going to be easy, Ngulube FC is a tough opponent to play against however the boys (Bhurundi FC) needed it the most and congratulations to them for winning it”. The CEO of Kliptown Youth Program Thulani Madondo was also delighted to participate in the soccer tournament as they played a fascinating cutting raise game just before the final match.  An accredited referee Sihle Magadla who was the match official for the tournament said “It’s always a great experience to officiate a tournament that has a great ending especially if it involves a great community such as Kliptown, I really had the best time”.

As we continue to work on empowering the young people in our community, we would like to take the tournament to the next level in 2020. In the next Heritage Celebration Soccer Tournament we are planning to introduce a workshop/training that will help us to train and equip young people with necessary digital skills, this will help us to cut down the unemployment rate because if people are equipped with the right digital skills then they can always use it to create employment for themselves and others. In the fourth industrial revolution everyone has a right to tap into the digital wealth so that our communities can start experiencing financial freedom as well. Thank you to Steven Rakgoadi of Impaste Design, Xolani Sedibe and everyone who supported the first Edition of Heritage Celebration Soccer Tournament, in 2020 we are coming stronger with grace and hard work.

A piece of Love for a friend

The story of love has been on the lips of mankind for quite a long time now, and this topic is unceasingly living a lot of people confused as they try to search for the true meaning of love in their daily lives. Does love really exist? This query has been asked a million times already and in return people have received a lot of confusing answers that are from different perspectives influenced by crucial life experiences, religious and cultural qualities. This is the most debated theme till this day, but people often come to debate about love under different circumstances they are facing in their lives, and I personally believe judging under emotional influence is not the best thing to do in this world filled with so much greatness.

Different authors have written on this notion, religions have ordered and tried to explain this concept but for many people there’s still a huge void of misunderstanding about this subject. What is love and what does it stand for in this modern day? Are we losing the meaning of it or we never had the perfect understanding of love from the beginning? I don’t promise to answer all these questions in fullness but I will give you a piece of what I believe love is. My facts and answers may not be enough but you can add them up to what you already know and it will make sense.

In our daily lives through our circles of friends and the power of communication in online platforms, we have learnt a lot of harsh comments about love from people who have been hurt in relationships. Comments like “love hurts” has proven how much we have gone to believe that love is a relationship or a friendship instead of knowing that love is the source of these. We meet through love and relationships are found from that point. We highly expect to find love when we are supposed to give more of it, because we are born with so much love imparted in us and through it we have found our existence. It’s in our likeness and qualities as human beings to owe each other nothing but love, this is our blueprint character. And if we don’t live by our original character then it can only frustrate and depress us.

We as humans have tried to complicate everything through our experiences, knowledge and insecurities, we even tried to temper with love. But love remains pure and true even at the best of our hate, love is not up for a debate. Love is not interested in futile negative efforts of trying to prove a point. No, love doesn’t associate itself with the moments of greed, self-centered intentions and desperation’s. Love doesn’t capture such memories. Love is pure, kind, humble and forgiving. Where there is love there’s growth, there is immeasurable discoveries of self and divine destiny. In the presence of love there is complete peace and wisdom that surpasses all understanding.

The story of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden is the perfect example explaining to us on how the understanding of love has been manipulated in mankind, and this confusion and fear has lived until this day. In the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve were caught gambling and testing if they would really die if they ate a fruit from the forbidden tree. By disrespecting the instruction of God and eating from the prohibited tree, they didn’t know that they were breaking each other apart, humiliating and mocking each other. They gave birth to fear, the fear of loving each other and now people are stuck with depressed and broken hearts that are speaking blasphemies against love because no one wants to accept that they have only been associated with lust and not love. Lust is progressively replacing love in so many relationships that people have committed themselves to. This is deadly because lust emanates from sin and the result of it is death. On the contrary, love is still pure.

We unfortunately live in the world with people who are carrying broken hearts as if everything is alright because we are told to be stronger and we are kept in the dark about healing. Let me tell you ‘You deserve to love because you deserve better’. Before you can commit yourself to building a new association or bond with others you must first heal from the past that made your insecurities so big and your fears so strong. And before you can heal, you must forgive yourself for all the shortcomings of not sharing the fullness of your love and forgive those who have done you wrong in the name of love as well. InverseSA one of the great aspiring hip hop artists in South Africa wrote in one his songs titled Love “It’s only love that can heal our scars and the pain”. This is so true, love is the source our lives and our growth. When we are broken and despair, love comes to our rescue and rescues us from within.

I would truly like you to love, love deeper and love harder like you’ve never been hurt before. Purify your intentions and give love wholeheartedly every day, when no one is watching and when everyone is watching, do it for love. That future partner you are always dreaming about will not come until you start loving in their absence first. Through the love you show to the universe and the ones living in it you are able to attract divine connections and pieces that relates to your destiny. My words are not enough to explain the fullness of love but these are pieces I can share with you, and the most asked question still remains: What is Love? You are Love and the world needs more of you to become a better place. Go out there and give away the love. Peace.

Technology changing the future of jobs.

Unemployment is the biggest issue that we are facing in South Africa today. The unemployment rate percentage has now risen to 28% and still growing as stated by Stats SA in 2019. The research also shows that the youth aged between 15-24 years are the most vulnerable in South African labor market as the employment rate for this age group was 55.2% in the first quarter of 2019. The lack of the digital skills in South Africa is one of the major complications that’s influencing the rapid rise of the unemployment rate. The growth of digital transformation in the global ecosystem has brought a lot of opportunities that plays a huge role in economic growth of a country, however these openings are demanding digital skills. In the SONA 2019 president Ramaphosa revealed that they are working on the new curriculum which will assist school children with learning the new digital skills that are in demand globally. The curriculum will include but not limited to Coding, AI, block chain machinery, the internet of things and capabilities in data analytics.

The lack of digital skills is still the main factor that is limiting unprivileged countries from economic growth. We live in the world where technology is continuously growing and expanding its capabilities to function better and be more helpful to human beings. This however has proven to be more of a threat than an aid to people living in developing countries because of the fear of losing their jobs. Research by McKinsey states that 45% of all current jobs could be automated with the present technology. Do we need to be terrified by this? Absolutely No! Remember machines can only do what we program them to do but the emotional intelligence and the aptitude to influence creative machines will always remain with the people. The rising machinery can only replace us by doing all the things we really never enjoyed doing.

The takeover and the influence of the new technology aims to change the entire job world. More creators and inventors are to be discovered. Automation is already playing a huge role in the unemployment of most South Africans, machines are replacing people on their jobs. Standard Bank recently retrenched quiet a number of people with the aim of transforming their business into digital. The digital transformation process is setting a new trend for the people in the job world. People will be required to be creative inventors and creators that will build machines that can solve our daily problems. Through unlearning old knowledge and processes we are able to learn the new technology and how we can use it to benefit our lives, the school system, businesses and the economic growth of the country at large. If people don’t take the advantage of learning the new technology then we will end up with unemployable people, hence the unemployment rate is continuing to rise quickly. The digital skills are now in demand for any career you might choose to pursue.

Starting more programs like Digify Africa and Umuzi to challenge the youth in developing themselves with the digital skills can prove to be more helpful to the growth of the country especially economically. There’s a rapid growth of businesses that fail even before the beginning and businesses that are currently not doing so well, while so much money is invested in them. So, clearly the issue is not the money but it’s the lack of knowledge and the marketing skills that are digital. Once business owners and aspiring business owners can take full advantage of the technology and the advanced digital marketing skills, then more successful business will rise in South Africa. With the rise of AI, Machine-learning and Deep-learning big companies like MIT, Oracle and large management firms are adopting these technologies to accelerate their businesses. The world can only get better with you and the tech.
