Thando Cavalier's moodboard
"Obligations really suck…"
"Ah, but not having obligations is the absolute greatest."
"There’s like some shit moving. I don’t know man, maybe I’m loosing my mind."
"Uh, right."
"Not as specific as it could be, but it's a start. There's a bunch of people around, that might be it, or your hands. That seems seriously plausible right now."
"I don’t have to admit anything. And, no, I made it up just for you, Thando."
"No, not they are not. It’s a fucking perfect accent, okay - no arguments - it’s just perfect. End of story."
"The absolute honour, and I guess talking all day must really get those 'word juices' going? See, I can't really make up words that well."
"If you insist. But is there such thing as a perfect accent?"
"What the fuck is that? Is anyone else seeing this shit or…?"
"You're going to have to be a little more specific there, buddy."
"It’s what the bottle is for, Thando. These are my medication." Madame said, gripping the small bottle between her ailing fingers. "It wasnt that too long when I got diagnosed, actually. A few months maybe?" She felt herself choking up. Ey was the first person she was going to say this to, and all the fear and the anger and the anxiety that was slowly building up was daring to make an appearance in the conversation in whatever shape or form it manages. Yet, she steels herself for her next sentence. "The doctors have said that I wouldn’t be able to dance anymore."
There was this image of Madame, this unstoppable woman with an enigmatic past and her specialty, her direction was stripped away and it shocked em. "I-I've never heard of this before, well, from you." Considering Thando was directionless, such news hit em more than ey expected. "A few months huh? Wait, so who knows, do your students or your fami—" Thando had to stop there. Even someone like em knew when it was appropriate too, but the rest of the word still hung on eir tongue.
"Hey! No backhanded compli-insults. That’s mean!"
"You’re kidding, right? South African accents are, like, the coolest fucking accent ever."
"I'm just saying! Come on, you have to admit it's kind of true. Compli-insults, hm, is that common vocab in the Izzy dictionary?"
"Nah. Come on, you have to admit the vowels are a little longer than necessary, though."
"Thando, dearie. Are you familiar with Parkinson’s Disease?" She asked, rather measured. It was as if she was calculating her every word, ready to retract and defend any minute. She couldn’t get herself to look at em, regardless.
Parkinson's wasn't exactly your everyday conversation point, and it quietened Thando. Ey felt emself swell up, knowing what was next. It was awful to think about really. "Not really," Thando replied, as casually as they could with their hoarse voice. "Uh, how long has it been then?"
"Oh, god, electronic? That shit is either really fucking weird or amazing. There is no in between.”
"Lekker… The slang you use is so much more awesome then the slang I use… Lekker. That’s really fun to say."
"You have to admit it is a little beautiful at times, Izz. And wouldn't that describe you too, just saying."
"Hear the rest of the language, and you'll definitely change your mind. Or even the accent. Super relieved mine's worn off."
Oh that’s definitely tempting Thando, but I’m not going to ruin my free time activity during work.
You ask, and I give a solution—be a little thankful. My other ideas are more for tiring yourself out though.
Or you could not work and you wouldn't have to stay up for anything.
Dear god I don’t know how I’m gonna stay up for this shift…
You're surrounded by books, you could always, I don't know—read one?
She couldn’t help the color that was slowly draining her face. Benztropine was printed clear as day on the bottle as ey twirled it around eris fingers. “Thando, dearie. You will. I’m sure of it.” She muttered silently, having watched her well kept secret foiled all because she misplaced her pills.
Even if ey had forgotten most of the medical-related aspects of eir biochemistry course at university, the label was still recognisable. They wanted to tickets, but still, curiosity did come first. "That would be good, Madame," Thando replied, eir eyes still on the bottle. "I'm sure it'll be a lovely night." Placing the bottle down, ey added. "Still curious, though."
"More variety, huh? You’re just making me want to go there more, and more, Thando."
"I am a little serious. I reckon you need some more electronic stuff and Monkeys is perfect."
"It'll be lekker."

As the bottle of medicine was lifted from the table, she knew what was coming next. Yet, she still wanted to keep it under wraps. She was shocked. She was determined. She was desperate.
"Give it back!" She screamed
"I won't judge Madame," Thando replied coolly while ey rotated the bottle, as if to showcase it, just to examine it a little. Ey meant no harm, but it was fun to tease the supposedly wiser woman.
"Doesn't look like MDMA, so I think you're good. Although scratch the idea of getting tickets, I'm now curious about this."
Ah well I can relate to that kid, not the dad being a journalist, but the travelling part. I traveled quite a bit when I was a kid, and I’ll admit I did brag a lot. No, but I wish though, flexible schedule but not one that involves travel. That’s true, but other people might disagree though.
Definitely! I mean different people will have different views on how to life their life but yeah, life isn’t sitting around. Ah well, slow is okay for me, as long it’s interesting.
Oh god, Neal, you were that kid. Hard to believe really, 'cause you can't seem to say anything negative, that kind of vibe at least. If someone disagrees though, I tend to disregard them. I like listening to relevant opinions and thoughts, or anything that grabs my attention.
You can have slow and interesting? I don't see how that would work well, so does it..?
"It’s my 21st. I feel like I can afford to spend a little money - especially if they have good music, man.”
"We'll see, we'll see."
"I know it's your birthday, but still, Monkeys might help you add more variety to your show."
