Bad Liar || Cass & Open
“Oh, oh, I’m tryin’, I’m tryin’, I’m tryin’… Not to think about you No, no, no, no Not to think about you No, no, no, no Oh I’m tryin’, I’m tryin’, I’m tryin’… Not to give in to you No, no, no, no Not to give in to you With my feelings on fire Guess I’m a bad liar”
Finishing her song and rising from the stool she’d been seated on, Cass smiled and nodded her thanks for the smattering of applause as she left the small stage in the cafe. Open mics were one of her favorite ways to test out new songs, the audiences often small enough to get a better reading on individual listeners. Tucking her guitar back into its case and snapping the lid closed, she moved off to the side, taking a seat at the bar and ordering a hot tea and an order of scrambled eggs and bacon from the waitress. Sliding the guitar case under her feet, she turned to the person next to her with a smile. “You planning on performing today? Or just here to enjoy the show?”
Thane didn't come to the cozy cafe often; he preferred the comfort of his privacy and only appeared when he wanted someplace familiar to gather his thoughts. The music wasn't really a bonus as he was almost always too distracted to really listen to any of the talent that graced the stage. This evening however, a singer had managed to become the distraction, or more accurately the melodic tone she used when she recited her lyrics proved most distracting; it was impossible for the male to ignore and wonderous for him to listen to. After her performance, he casually finds a seat next to her at the bar, intent on telling her how much he appreciated the opportunity to admire her singing voice, but her question comes before he could. "I don't perform," he pointed out to her, quickly ordering light toast and breakfast links when prompted by the waitress before turning his attention back to the singer, "and until today, I haven't enjoyed much of the talent that comes through. You've got skill."
