Sri Lanka Thanksgiving

I didn’t have a place to live until Tuesday and have been overworked and homesick, so thought about skipping thanksgiving altogether this year, or just doing McDonalds with friends. But instead, everything fell into place at the very last minute and I hosted a little tropical thanksgiving.

Menu:

Roast chicken

Roasted potatoes (these were supposed to be sweet potatoes but turns out “sweet potatoes” here are just potatoes... that have some sweetness in them)

Roasted vegetables

Stuffing

Pumpkin mashed potatoes

Apple crumble

I am a goddamn mess this year. Skipping cooking for the first time in years, working too much, flying to L.A. on the day of at 7 am.

Still, made it to a Friendsgiving (post to come later on how much I hate that phrase) and baked this perfectly delicious Torta di Mele con Sambuca to bring. Bake this or a Tarte Tatin instead of an apple pie because honestly apple pies usually suck.

I’m too grumpy, I need Thanksgiving.
