I forgor to post this. But YEAH, here is another Silksong animatic!
I wanted to make Hornet a bit more expressive than she usually is, pretty much projecting my feelings when I got dragged into the slab as I was playing. This song made it extra edgy, I am obsessed.

I'll start by posting a comic I'm working on, an AU of Hollow Knight: Silksong. It all began as a silly idea and ended up becoming something I wanted to turn into a comic. You can also see this comic on my Twitter account!

What if in the red memory…
Pure vessel and the Pale king make an appearance. They’re not quite the focal element, but are still there. Pure Vessel is dressed in their pale prince uniform; sword in hand, but not preparing to fight; ready to be hung inside the black egg.
The memory is a bit blurry, since Hornet didn’t want to (and possibly wasn’t allowed to anyways) stick around for it.
This is sorta my visual interpretation for it.
A parent that SACRIFICES?? THEMSELVES??? IN MY HOLLOW KNIGHT GAME??? Unheard of…
Poor Lace has been acting as a child her whole life; she probably doesn’t even know what parts of her are her and what parts were trained in. Does she even like killing, or was that an adaptation she made mentally to survive her years of isolation and serving? She doesn’t even know how to process any of her emotions in a mature way because she hasn’t been allowed to age or grow mentally and face consequences (unlike Hornet). Anyway she should yell at Hornet. Imagine for your centuries of existence you’ve never made a single change, always being a perfect little puppet; then, when you get to kill the facade entirely and bring down the cursed kingdom that trapped you in its cycle some rando decides “nah man im gonna undo your first impactful choice for a hopeless place”. And then Hornet points out that she wouldn’t even be alive if Lace hadn’t freed her both times, that it was her that ensured Pharloom would be saved.
And then while Lace learns that she can feel things Hornet also realizes she doesn’t have to be fighting zombies always and can think about her trauma and then they kiss

Silksong’s theme got me HOOKED since the very start.
Every grand kingdom has its ugly side that keeps it afloat; an ugly side that always receives the scraps and pollution from those above.
As many other fans would agree, the Citadel’s underworks has to be the best area of the game, narratively speaking. Working conditions are miserable; the air is filthy, its workers remain sick, and taking even the smallest break can cost them their life. But what is it that they seek? Why keep going…? A wish, a promise, that one day they will be deemed as holy, worthy of riches, and looked fondly by their gods. The little automatized confession cabin? UGH, BRUTAL! If you’ve played the game, you know what I’m talking about.
I feel like I’m reacting as if this was the first piece of media to ever criticize class inequality and manipulation through faith.
