The sixth installment of the short comic features Sonic’s rival character, Shadow, a black hedgehog! Shadow is the ultimate life form created by Dr. Eggman’s grandfather, Professor Gerald. He is a mysterious character who appears before Sonic and his friends sometimes as a comrade in battle, and sometimes as a formidable foe.

His upbringing and the world around him have always been shrouded in darkness, but in Shadow’s troubled yet determined attitude, we see a different kind of hero than Sonic. This comic is a sketch of a dim memory of the past that Shadow suddenly recalled. “Project Shadow” is said to be a metaphor for the pursuit of “something that does not exist,” but the name “Shadow” also carries this kind of hope. With the space colony ARK floating in the night sky in the background, where is Shadow headed…?

Been wanting to do this kind of thing for awhile, after seeing a big sheet a long time ago doing this sort of thing with the first two seasons of Sonic X.

So basically I did sheets showing the many varying animation styles and animation quality from Sonic X, but this one involving each individual character for each particular style, instead of per episode. And for the sake of convenience, I went and listed the animation directors for the episodes for which ‘said differing styles appeared in- at least as far as the first two seasons are concerned. As far as I know, there haven’t really been any proper credits available(unless the boxset Discotek released for the third season happens to) for the third season to show who did what animation wise and how many. So that’s why characters like Shadow have a smaller sheet, and why I didn’t include Cosmo despite how much I wanted to.(There’s also Tumblr’s 10 pictures per photoset limit, which I didn’t want to deal with right now.) If they do become available, or if they already and I just know it and end up discovering it, then I’ll update this.
