💫The Five Elements💫
When people think of “the elements,” they’re probably thinking of the typical earth, air, water, and fire, but they don’t think of the fifth element, nor do they think about the stats of the elements or even the power behind them. This post is meant to go into detail about the five elements, and I hope that I (and my excessive reasearch, lol) are of use to you! 💛

🔥💥Fire💥🔥
Fire cleanses and purifies, but it is also creative and destructive. It can consume everything in it’s path and it is the only one of the elements that cannot exist without feeding on something else. It offers warmth and cooks food, but can get out of control. It has the power to transform everything it touches. It is positive and lifting, but can be frightening if not controlled. It is the most physical and spiritual of the elements and represents magick itself. ✨🌌Spirit🌌✨
Spirit (also known as Ether/Aether) is, by far, the most complex and complicated element to explain. It is what unites all things, anywhere and everywhere, and is our connection to the otherworld in rituals. The spirit element transports us beyond any narrow confines and allows us to open up to something much bigger, it is present in all aspects of life, and goes beyond thought and emotion. Unlike the other four elements it has no defined place or location, even though we cannot specifically place it, we know it is there. It provides the space, connection, and balance for the other elements to exist. All spells benefit from this element.

♡ Salt ♡
Now there are different kinds of salt you can use in your craft, but that begs the question: what kind should I use? So I decided to create this post so you can refer it to, write this in your grimoire or BOS, for when you need to include salt in a spell but don’t know what kind to use.
Table Salt
Table salt is the least expensive of all other salt, as well as the most basic. Typically table salt is used home cleansings and purification. It can also be used for protection circles. if it is the only kind you have, it can be used to replace other salts depending on the intent.
Sea Salt
Sea salt is made by evaporting salt water, and thus contains minerals like potassium, iron, copper, silicon, and more. The lighter the salt, the lighter amount of minerals. Sea salt being related to the sea, is favored by those who prefer to use the sea/ocean in their magick. Sea salt is best for cleansing baths and purification. Primarily when it is emotional purification which needs to be done.
Himalayan Pink Salt
Himalayan pink salt is known for it’s color, a lovely soft shade of pink. It is connected to Earth, and specifically great for astral projection and spirit work. When himalyan pink salt is out, it absorbs psychic energy however when burned/heated it releases that energy. This can be great for providing a boost for a spell, or your own power in general.
Celtic Sea Salt
Celtic sea salt is known for being popularized in France, and has a light grey color in comparision to other salts. Due to the low amount of sodium in celtic sea salt, it considered to best for kitchen witchcraft.
Black Salt
Black salt as known for it’s name is black, and can be created when salt is mixed with ash or by being mixed with cocount ash. When it is mixed with coconut ash, this allowed it to be edible, and thus used for kitchen witchcraft. However, when it is not edible it is best used for protection against negativity.

♡
Did you know that much of the ocean's food chain depends on the moon? Algae move towards moonlight to the surface in the evening, and creatures who feed on them go after them, so on and so forth.
Well, you learn something new every day! Here are some more ocean facts!
1. For starters, did you know that 94 percent of life on Earth is aquatic? That makes us land-dwellers a very small minority.
2. About 70 percent of the planet is ocean, with an average depth of more than 12,400 feet. Given that photons (light) can’t penetrate more than 330 feet below the water’s surface, most of our planet is in a perpetual state of darkness.
3. Fifty percent of the United States (in terms of our complete legal jurisdiction, which includes ocean territory) lies below the ocean.
4. The deep sea is the largest museum on Earth: There are more artifacts and remnants of history in the ocean than in all of the world’s museums, combined.
5. We have only explored less than 5 percent of the Earth’s oceans. In fact, we have better maps of Mars than we do of the ocean floor (even the submerged half of the United States).
6. The longest mountain range in the world is under water. Called the Mid-Oceanic Ridge, this chain of mountains runs through the middle of the Atlantic Ocean and into the Indian and Pacific oceans. It runs more than 35,000 miles long, has peaks higher than those in the Alps and it comprises 23 percent of the Earth’s total surface.
7. We didn’t send divers down to explore the Mid-Ocean Ridge until 1973 — four years after Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin walked on the moon — when a French-American crew of seven entered the 9,000-foot-deep Great Rift in the French submersible Archimede.
8. The ocean boasts an array of unusual geographic features, such as pillars that reach several stories high and chimneys that send up sulphuric acid. In the ocean-floor neighborhood of the Gulf of Mexico, brine pools mark the floor, along with underwater volcanoes that spew mud and methane, rather than lava.
9. These wonderful formations aren’t barren, either. Underwater hot springs that shoot water that’s 650 degrees Fahrenheit — hot enough to melt lead — boast a profusion of life, from 10-foot tall tubeworms to giant clams that function without digestive systems.
10. Many of the rules that apply on land are turned upside down in the ocean, some literally. Beneath the surface, often not far from popular vacation beaches, are underwater lakes, waterfalls and even upside-down lakes!
11. Much of the life in the oceans, as on land, is invisible to the naked eye. For instance, if you’ve ever swallowed a milliliter of ocean water, know that you also gulped 1 million bacteria and 10 million viruses — give or take a few. No need to worry though, swimmers around the world swallow some ocean water during their ventures into the water, without ill effects.
12. Also living on hydrothermal vents are 140- to 160-foot long jellies, which use a process called chemosynthesis (think photosynthesis, but adapted to zero sunlight) to convert the hydrothermal water into simple sugars for food. Most striking are the extremes in which the jellies live. Temperatures vary drastically near the vents, so while the tops of the jellies enjoy lows of 37 degrees, their bottoms (at the vent) bask in a toasty 392 degrees — happy as clams, or jellies, rather.
13. Extreme temperatures aren’t the only seeming barrier to life, but again, the laws below the surface differ from those above. The immense pressure of the water on a human diving to greater depths is one of the biggest hurdles to exploring the deepest parts of the oceans — yet, at depths that would crush the Titanic like a Coke can, crabs, octopuses and tubeworms go about their business.
14. But even the more familiar ocean creatures have interesting and unexpected traits and habits. Did you know that an octopus’s speed of travel never exceeds that of the surrounding waves? That same octopus employs amazing camouflaging talents — changing color, shape, and even its texture, pattern and brightness — to blend in to its surroundings.
15. Another example is the male squid, which turns a warm brown color to attract females, or white to warn away interloping males. Most intriguing is that the male never shows its white, aggressive side to the female. In a colorful show of marine multitasking, the male squid will turn the side facing his prospective mate the welcoming brown, while simultaneously turning sideways so that she can’t see he’s made his outward-facing flank white.
folks, I’m just gonna say it. I don’t think it rains for long enough periods of time. it rains hard, it sounds good, I’m comfortable inside, but within 5 minutes the jig is up. the dream is over. I think it should rain for longer periods of time than it presently does
🌿🌊Aquatic Herbalism🌊🌿
A little guide I’ve made based on correspondences for aquatic plants and other similar organisms (cuz moss and algae are not always plants lol) that i have on my grimoire, based on my own correspondences and a lot of research i’ve done, and I thought of sharing it with you all! 💙
This are the correspondences I personally have for them, or the ones i’ve found based on my research, you may have/find different ones! you don’t need to take this as an absolute truth, experimenting yourself is always good!!! :D
💧 Of Freshwater: 💧
🌿 Victoria amazonica: This has very large leaves, up to 3 m in diameter, that float on the water’s surface. It is native to the shallow waters of the Amazon River basin, although today it can be found on Guyana, Colombia and Venezuela. It represents steadiness, strength, royalty (as it was named after Queen Victoria) and to find beauty on small everyday things.
🌿 Water lily: Water lilies are a well studied clade of plants because their large flowers with multiple unspecialized parts were initially considered to represent the floral pattern of the earliest flowering plants. In Ancient Greece, it was a symbol of innocence and modesty. They represent wisdom, knowledge, perseverance and maturity.
🌿 Lotus: This plant is an aquatic perennial. Under favorable circumstances its seeds may remain viable for lots of years, with the oldest recorded lotus germination being of seeds 1,300 years old recovered from a dry lakebed in China. The lotus is often used in hinduism as an example of divine beauty and purity, and the divinities of potency and wealth have the lotus symbol associated with them. In ancient Egypt the white lotus was worshipped and considered a symbol of creation, while a cerulean lotus was seen as a symbol of the sun, since the flowers are closed at night and open again in the morning: the origin of the world was taught to have been when the sun god Ra emerged from a lotus flower growing in primordial waters. At night, he was believed to retreat into the flower again. The lotus flower is also very important in Buddhism, as a representative of creation, cosmic renewal and primordial purity. In Buddhist symbolism the lotus is symbolic of purity of the body, speech, and mind as while rooted in the mud, its flowers blossom on long stalks as if floating above the muddy waters of attachment and desire. It is also symbolic of detachment as drops of water easily slide off its petals.
🌿 Water chestnut: It’s a grass-like sedge native to Asia, Australia, tropical Africa, and many islands from the Pacific and Indian Oceans. It is today grown in many countries because of its edible corms. It represents prevention, foresight, abundance and invigoration.
🌿 Cattail: These are wetland plants with a flowering spike, flat blade like leaves that reach heights from 3 to 10 feet. Cattails are one of the most common plants in large marshes and on the edge of ponds. It symbolises peace and prosperity, good wishes, love and friendship.
🌿 Irish moss: This is actually a type of red algae that forms flowerless patches over wet or humid rocks. It represents love, luck, charity, wealth, softness, protection and purification.
🌿 Rice: This is the seed of some grass species, like asian rice and african rice plants. It is traditionally cultivated in flooded fields. It represents wealth, prosperity, health, good luck, success, According to Japanese mythology the rice plant was brought to Japan by Prince Ninigi, the grandson of the great kami Amaterasu. To mark the event there was a huge feast. During which the emperor tasted this new food in the presence of Amaterasu herself. This precious food originated from the gods. Rice is the connection between heaven and earth. It also represents long life, spiritual health, knowledge and purity.
🌊 Of Saltwater: 🌊
🌿 Seaweed: This are specifically macroscopic multicellular types of algae. Alginates are commonly used in wound dressings. They represent children, games, joy, happiness, communication and travel. Great for weather magic.
🌿 Kelp: This specific type of seaweed forms gigantic forests underwater, thus it represents family, health and wealth, perseverance, wisdom and knowledge. Obviously also great for weather magic!
🌿 Red algae: Also called Rhodophyta, are the oldest group of algae. Mostly multicellular. They represent maturity, the passage of time, past lives, past events, past in general, the elders, etc. Good for scrying.
🌿 Brown algae: large group of multicellular algae, that may reach 60 m (200 ft) in length. In general, their correspondences are growth, youth, family, maturity.
🌿 Green algae: Mainly microscopic photosynthetic organisms. They represent wealth, travel, luck, growing up, hard work and team work.
🌿 Nori: Different types of eatable algae, such as P. yezoensis and P. tenera. Represents family, ancestry, gatherings and friendship.
🌿 Turtle grass: a type of seagrass that forms meadows in shallow sandy or muddy locations in the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico. Represents kindness, softness, and sweetness.
💙 Hope this is useful for you, and as always, my inbox is open in case anyone needs or wants to ask anything!💙

the sea sends land-locked sea witches love letters in the form of storms
A Garden for the Water Witch
Got myself a little water familiar and named him Azazel. He’s a halfmoon dumbo betta. It came down to 2 choices but he just wouldn’t stop flashing at me so I had to get him ❤ He definitely has a big personality. As for his crib I’ve set him up in a 2.5 gallon planted aquarium because it’s like having a little underwater garden. I feel like this is a great way for water witches to connect with the element, it’s also been proven that having a home aquarium can be therapeutic and relieve stress. There are so many great benefits to running an aquarium and I have yet to see water witches utilize this. I’ll be posting updates as Azazel and his tank bloom.

Neptune’s Child, by Detha Watson
Some food for thought
If one is working a rite upon the beach, during high tide and the waves are strong, be cautious of any tools or items you have with you. My last beach ritual - I thought the spot I’d chosen was safe from any waves rolling in and snatching my tools. But close enough to the water to send out my intentions and offerings. I was wrong… When working with sea energy, it may and it can get a little unpredictable. I almost lost my journal, shells, stones and my wand.
The sea responds to you. And if you’re calling upon its powers, in its strong domain, you will see that. Take care when practising at the coast ♥️
‘Let it go’ Ritual to do at the beach🌊
🐚Go near the shore and use your fingers or a stick to write on the sand a word that represents what you want to let go of ( could be an emotion, thought or a person)
🐚You have to write it near the shore in order for the sea to come and wash it away.
🐚 Visualize that word going away with the sea. If it’s a person you can visualize yourself saying goodbye to them and walk away. If it’s an emotion (or feeling) you can declare that you are setting yourself free from it, and when you walk away from the seashore you can say out loud that it no longer belongs to you/ holds power over you.
Ps: I did this five days ago and last night I had a dream in which a demon-like creature possesed my sister, and when I saw it, I screamed at it in rage (one of the words I wrote to let go) and it went away.
Then, in the same dream (different scenario tho) a flood happened -it was like if the freaking Titanic was sinking and all the ocean was coming through the gates- and I saw a corpse floating over the water (pain was another word I wrote).
I think it’s safe to say it worked for me🌊
cold weather witch tip
if icicles form where you live, break them off into any bottle with a lid and let it melt to make winter water for spells
winter water = transformation, contemplation, cutting through obstacles, regenerating, hibernation, introspection, clearing, cleansing, intensifying, sharpening, clarity, weather
🌊More Landlocked Sea Witch Tips🌊
Terrariums
Build a terrarium or a few, in the space you often inhabit. This can even be your own home aquarium. You can add sand, shells, rocks, faux or real aquatic plants, statues, and any other sea treasures you happen to have. This can even be a focus point for any sea meditation/work you are doing. If this is an aquarium please ensure the pieces you’re adding are safe for your watery pets! 🐠
Amulets and Talismans
Either of your own fashioning, or bought/gifted, a piece of jewelry can be blessed, charged and dedicated to being a piece of oceanic energy you keep/carry with you. Use what you feel you’re drawn to, be it a crystal, shell, hag stone or even sea glass. This brings me to my next idea…
Incorporating the sea into your wardrobe
Clothes in blues, greens, whites and turquoises can be a great reminder of the ocean. Jewllery can be incorporated too. Just do whatever makes you feel connected to the ocean. You can even incorporate colour magic into your wardrobe!
Mama Moon
Lunar magic can easily be tied into sea and water magic. The moon pulls the tides and in turn affects our own fluids in our bodies. The moon phases also affect the tides. Work your sea rites and spells around the moon phases to tap into the tidal energy. And to know the tides of your nearest coastline, there is an app called “Tides Near Me.” I read once somewhere, the sea and moon are sisters. And that’s always stuck with me. They both are highly intertwined.
Extended: Bath and Shower Magic
🌊Salt body scrubs - lush do a scrub called “ocean salt,” you can bless this with ocean energy and use it to your own intent/liking
🌊Same goes for their soap “Sea Vegetable.”
Of course, you don’t have to get these at lush. Plenty of places that do soap and body scrubs will have a sea themed soap and sea salt scrub
Water Spirits
If you’re experienced enough with the fae and spirits, try reaching out to any merfolk or ocean dwelling beings that you feel drawn to. Of course, take the appropriate precautions beforehand and research thoroughly. The Mer are an unpredictable bunch and you don’t often know what you may be getting yourself into. Building a relationship with one of these beings can help you connect with the ocean. And of course, be respectful
