This is currently my favorite tattoo I’ve ever gotten, thanks to Jeremy Lewis. Surprisingly, it’s my first @taylorswift one because I wanted to wait until the right lyrics that cut deep enough, and lyrics that were 100% relevant to my life. Well, “this is me trying” definitely moved me to tears the first time I heard it and it was as if it was written about my life.

This song has the most special lyrics to me. It represents exactly what I’ve dealt with over the last 2 years through loss, isolation, tears, regret, denial, addressing trauma from my past, FULLY accepting myself and coming to terms with who I am, recovery from heartbreak; and then some. It’s also a beautiful reminder to me that no amount of endurance is worth it in a relationship from someone (friend or lover), all in place of your self-worth and sanity.

It taught me that sometimes, no matter how hard you try, you CAN and WILL outgrow a relationship if that person doesn’t grow with you, listen to you and communicate with you. Never let the fear of speaking up cripple you into the black hole of silence that leads to resentment. Even if the words come out wrong, it’s always important to try; in hopes that the other party will meet you on “the other side”. If a relationship in your life does come to an end, you might think that you’ll never move on, or never get over the situation; but you will. Just be patient with yourself.

I’m so glad I ended up where I am now, because without all this pain and loss, there would not have been a road to recovery and a journey that led to my mental health improving; more than I ever would have imagined. So all in all, this tattoo is a reminder to me that even though I went through those times where I was at my lowest, I came out on the brighter side of things; and I ended up meeting peace face-to-face. 〽️🎶☯️
