Been doing a MCU rewatch lately, and just let me tell you - those first 6 movies - you know, “Phase One” - just instantly takes me back to the summer of 2012. Became one of my first fandoms! Still good the tenth rewatch and makes me want to reread all those 2012 towerfics!

how are you going to post about protecting trans rights while funneling money to the pockets of the woman who directly helped fund the dismantling of trans rights in the UK. you don't actually support trans people, you can't even prioritize their very real lives over a shitty fictional franchise

First off, I have not given that woman any of my money since I first bought the books 20+ years ago. I never watched the movies, I have no intention of supporting the tv reboot, I have never bought any merch or gone to the theme park(s?). For all intents and purposes, I have been a giant mooch for the past 22 years, since I started reading HP fanfic.

Second off, I support trans people. In part because I fall under that umbrella (nonbinary), but mainly because they're fellow human beings. I want them to live and thrive and have the best lives possible. I donate to LGBTQ+ charities when I can afford to, I support my local queer organization, I am trying to do the work when and how I can. Do you do anything beyond sending anonymous hate online? I hope so.

I shouldn't have to answer to you, whoever you are, but I'm taking this opportunity to make my stance clear.

I do not support JKR nor any of her views. (By the way, she'd also hate me for being ace, apparently. New vileness every day from her, how delightful.) I have wrestled with writing and perpetuating affection for a series she created -- a series which has more than its share of problematic aspects in many regards, even beyond the author's attacks on trans women (and trans and queer people in general).

And everyone is welcome to handle that internal debate for themselves however they like -- I can completely understand wanting to wash your hands of it. But it brings me joy to play in this sandbox and make it hella queer, and work through and detangle the cruelty and hatred that are built into the fibre of the books by the author. I seek to uphold the message that the author forgot: That love can be a saving force. A truly astounding (to me) number of people have commented on my ace fics to say they felt seen and hopeful. I did that with one of my silly HP stories.

And through my interactions with the HP fandom, I have found the most wonderful group of friends -- many of whom fall under the LGBT+ umbrella -- and feel accepted and whole for what might be the first time in my life.

I'm not going to give that up because my activism and attitudes don't match yours. I'll just do the best I can.

The above reply to an Anonymous user sums up my thoughts and feelings regarding Harry Potter.

I’ve elected to completely divorce JKR and her problematic canon from the wonderfully diverse and beautifully queer fanon that I’ve seen in the Harry Potter community. The writers and artists of this fandom have clearly seen the not-so -hidden issues of the original source material and have made something better.

So let me make myself clear:

JKR is a TERF and an awful human being.

Let me repeat myself: Fuck JKR and fuck the false “protecting women” narrative she prides herself for.

I cannot and will not ever support JKR and her transphobic views and tirades against transgender people.

The queer fanon of this community is far better than anything that this horrific woman has or will ever create.

It might’ve taken me 5 years, almost 6 years to the day (December 2019 - November 2024) to do it, but I’ve done it!! I’ve finally caught up and can join the Monday crew! How appropriate that it’s a Thursday no less. What a wild ride these past 3 campaigns have been, and I can’t wait for the many more to come!

The United States is a massive dumpster fire on the best of days, with no relief or hope within sight

But something about the Olympics, man. Makes that national pride really come out.

In all honesty, I’ll be cheering Team U.S.A. on with all my heart, and I wish everyone competing good vibes and safety.

I don’t usually follow sports but I never fail to watch the Opening Ceremony for the Olympics.

Something about it always touches my heart and brings tears to my eyes.

Watching this gathering and the celebration of humanity, different countries helping to support each other, this beautiful and wonderful showcase of humanity and humility and diversity;

Well, it just helps remind me that sometimes there is still a reason to have faith in humanity

Also, France goes all out on Opening Ceremonies! A wonderful tour of the best to offer of France. I loved the blend of history, culture and art. Miss Celine Dion. I have no words.

The best part, I have to say, was the bisexual throuple and the genderless Phantom of the Opera! Goals! Gotta love imaging the far right tomorrow losing their goddamn minds over a beautiful showing of equal love!

I’ve been watching #GTLive and all of the Theory channels since 2013. Matpat and Steph have been a part of my internet life for 11 years, and seeing them grow since then has been amazing. I’m sure we’ll see more of them in the future, but seeing the end of a big part of my childhood is heartbreaking, and I’m crying as I type this. I look forward to seeing how they level up. I’ll miss you Matt and Steph!

Avengers: Endgame

Just finished Avengers: Endgame. Was quietly sobbing my eyes out, and joining in on the claps of the crowd. From the very beginning in 2008, following Tony Stark throughout it all, until now. It’s been a marvelous 11 years watching my heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Iron Man was my first hero, and will always be, no matter what. Thank you for always being there. From 2008 to 2019; from when I was eight and daddy was my hero to now where college is the next experience. In the words of Cap: Avengers Assemble!

It’s finally over...

I’ve only played this game for 10 months, but it was one of my favorite games. I’m so sad that’s gone forever. Goodbye Tony, Steve, Janet, Thor, Loki and the many others that I’ll never get the chance to unlock and play. I’ll miss you.
