I'm basically that socially awkward attic-dwelling ghoul which makes itself known once in a blue moon. Yeah, that's about it lol.
Oh, how about a few funfacts ? That's fun.
☆ I'm down bad for the ghoulettes
☆ I adore any sort of fantasy or royalty AUs
☆ Silly story lines & slice of life are my preferred things to write
☆ I have tumblr notifications off because it scares me
There's not much posted yes but here's my ao3, #sleepy writes for general writing and #sleepy drabbles.
Sooo this is may super secret account for fanfic stuff. Honestly? I'm more of an artist than a writer. I don't really post my serious art on here. If you think you know who I am, no you don't. Thank you.
Social interactions aren't my strong suit but I love chatting with people!! I'm autistic and may be oblivious to unspoken tumblr etiquette. Please bare with me, I'm trying my best ♡
Asky thingy is open for whatever you might need it for.
The way I express myself may be off at times. English is not my first language.
Anyways, thanks for stopping by!!
xoxo sleepy ghoul

“I’m really sorry about this.” Dew sighs, not actually apologetic in the slightest, as he holds Smoky in the air for trying to bite the customer. Even now, the cat wiggles and practically glowers at the man.
He just chuckles and waves it off. “Animals don’t really like me I guess.”
Dew barely masks an eye roll. The man in question is decked head to toe in the most gaudy uniform he’s ever seen. And he’s seen it quite a lot.
It's the one worn by mid rank Ministry officials. All hellishly expensive dyes and piping and stars and medals. It's an eyesore, especially when most of those supposed accolades were likely bought with bribes. He’s seen it entirely too much as of late; the Ministry actively establishing a presence in the area. If anything Dew’s glad Smoky possesses a good judge of character.
Still he holds the cat back while Tobias finishes the transaction. The second the man is out the door, Dew sets Smoky down and squats.
“Now go bite his ankles.” He whispers.
Smoky runs off and Dew stands and wipes his hands.
“I think that’s it for the day. I’m closing things early because of the carnival.” Tobias says, putting away the cashbox.
“Yeah, I guess we won’t get many customers.”
“I don’t care about customers.” Tobias laughs. “I want to go enjoy myself for a night!”
“Huh, I didn’t think-” Dew is interrupted by the man outside yelping. He and Tobias both ignore it. “Didn’t think you were fond of carnivals.”
“Not always but they say tonight is supposed to be something special. There’s gonna be food and a fireworks show. Don’t want to miss it.”
Smoky trots back in all pleased with himself and Dew scoops him up, this time to pet him.
“Yeah, my friends who stopped by yesterday were telling me about it.”
“You’re going with them, right?”
“Was planning to.”
Tobias grins and claps him on the back. “Then get out there lad. Go have some fun and let loose.”
“Haha fine if you say so.”
“I know so. I haven’t ever seen you smile like you did yesterday.” Dew scrunches his shoulders in embarrassment but Tobias continues. “And as you should. You’re still young, you need friends. Keep em close alright?”
“Alright.”
Tobias practically shoves Dew out of the shop.
“Go let off some steam. And don’t worry if you get back late. I’m going to close the shop tomorrow cause half the town will have hangovers and the other half will still be drunk.”
And off he goes cackling to himself. Dew watches and just shakes his head.
“Kay I’m heading out now, Smokes.”
He sets the cat on the cobblestones, expecting him to head back inside the shop. Instead, he sits at attention at Dew’s side. When Dew takes a step towards town, Smoky takes three of his own to match strides. Well hopefully his friends won’t mind him bringing a plus one.
He meets Aether, Mountain, and Swiss outside of The Sealion and they head down to the docks where the celebrations are taking place.
“I see we have an escort for the evening." Swiss jokes, bending down to pat Smoky’s head.
“Yup, he’s here to make sure you don’t drink too much.” Dew teases. “Cause if you’re too drunk you can’t pet him.”
Swiss pretends to stagger and wobble. “Why are there three cats all of a sudden?” He faux slurs and the rest laugh.
The sound of laughter and music reaches them before they even see the first of the festive tents. Among the crowd it's raucous and busy, but the good mood is infectious and Dew can’t help but smile. They get a huge bag of kettle corn to share as they flit from stall to stall. Some sell fair food, others toys and knickknacks, and still more boast carnival games like ring tosses and dart throwing. Aether gets them a scarf’s length of tickets and they challenge each other to knock over the most milk bottles.
Dew earns himself some bragging rights by getting the second best score on a strength game that involves hitting a target with an oversized mallet. Aether on sheer bulk gets the highest score. Swiss and Mountain do better at the throwing games and are determined to break their cornhole tie until Dew and Aether practically drag them to the next booth.
Smoky rides in Dew’s arms or on Aether’s shoulder most of the night to avoid getting stepped on. When Swiss pulls Aether into the tent for a magic show though, Smoky demands to be set down.
“You coming?” Mountain pauses at the entrance, holding the tent flap up for Dew.
Dew looks between the red and yellow, two story event tent and the smaller shabbier purple one across the way that Smoky now stands in front of, staring at him impatiently.
“Save a seat for me. I’m going to check this booth out real quick.”
Mountain nods and lets the flap close behind him.
Dew approaches the purple tent. Compared to the hustle and bustle of most of the stalls, no one crowds around the front. Smoky paws at the entrance flap.
Dew brushes the velvet aside and steps in. Smoky follows. As the fabric swishes closed behind him, the noise and light from outside becomes muffled. It's replaced by candlelight and the heady smell of incense.
Despite how small the tent looked from the outside, there's actually a second layer of drapes sectioning off the innermost portion of the room.
“Come in.” He hears someone softly murmur from behind that second curtain.
Smoky wiggles in through the slight gap between the fabric sheets before Dew can stop him. Then he can’t do much but follow, an apology already on his tongue. When he tentatively crosses the second barrier of tarps however, the words die on his lips.
The small circular room is floored with carpets and cushions. A squat but long table sits towards the back. Candles dot its surface along with a tea pot and a stick of incense lit and burning away slowly in its holder. Before the table and to one side a woman sits crosslegged.
Her hair is long and a shockingly vibrant white despite how young her face seems. Brushed, he would imagine it being as silky as anything and yet her locks are a bit messy; tangled with braids and with strings of pebbles and seashells on twine tied here and there. Her outfit too is roughshod and simple, a sea green linen dress with no sleeves nor embellishments. It hangs off her lithe body and ripples like water with her movements as she drinks from a teacup.
“Hello.” She says smoothly, gesturing to the pillows across from her.
“H-hi.”
Smoky is the picture of ease, loafed on a pillow and purring up a storm. Dew tries to mimic some of that tranquility as he takes a seat.
“What is it that you seek?”
Dew can’t help but feel like he’s heard her accent before but he can’t place it.
He takes a deep breath. “Sorry, I’m honestly not sure. I just followed my cat in here.”
“Hmm.” She hums as if she finds some deeper meaning in his answer than Dew could possibly be aware of. She swirls her teacup and watches its contents. “You do seek something though.” She says finally. “Someone, maybe?”
“I mean, I just got reunited with some old friends. Literally just yesterday.”
She remains quiet and nods and Dew takes it as an indication to continue. Shocking himself, he feels compelled to elaborate; even to this complete stranger.
“It was weird because a lot of my past just resurfaced over the last two days. I've tried to forget a lot of it.”
“Frayed ends are being unwound.”
“Yeah, I guess.” Dew has zero idea what that means.
“What things have you forgotten that you now find yourself remembering?”
“Uh…what the sea smells like, I guess. And the sound the waves make against the hull of a ship.”
“And what the water feels like?”
“Maybe? I was never one to swim much…but…”
“Hmm?”
“I just remembered a dream I had last night. It was hazy when I woke up but it's really clear now. I met someone out there but they had to leave. I haven’t seen them since. In my dream though, it was like they never left.”
“And you would like to see them again?”
Dew surprises himself with the deeply honest answers, but he doesn't hesitate.
“Yes.”
“It won’t be easy.” The woman muses, turning around to dig through a wooden chest. “The road is long and you are lost. Fear still lives in your heart.” She withdraws a necklace, a little metal pendant on a waxed cord. “But if you can face it, this might help.”
“Uh, thank you?”
“You don’t believe me?”
“No it's just that, to see them again…I can’t just sail there.” Dew digs his nails into his palms as he tries to figure how in the hell to explain without looking a fool.
The woman chuckles and accepts it easily however. “Well of course not.” She presses the amulet into his hands. “It will be quite the swim.” She winks.
“H-how?” Dew gets the sense she knows a lot more than she lets on.
“Think on it.” She says dodging his question. “Decide for yourself what path is right for you. Don’t let life keep choosing for you.”
Just then Smoky stands and stretches. He gives the woman’s knee a friendly headbutt and trots past the first tarp layer.
“Smoky, wait.” Dew glances between the woman and the curtain and back again. “Sorry I have to go.”
He stands and unconsciously throws the necklace cord over his head.
The woman just smiles sagely and watches him leave.
“I hope you find what you seek.” She says as he passes through the gap in the tarps one more.
“Care to stop staring?” Rain mumbled as he wound a string through its tuning peg. Cirrus has been staring at him since he had started.
Rain felt her unblinking creepy stare and looked up. “Cirrus, please.”
He gave up and continued the arduous process. Tuning, stretching, tuning, stretching again, and finally; fine tuning. Cirrus chirped as he moved the bass. She seemed to be enamoured by the left-over string bits which caught the light.
Rain chuckled as he moved to trim them. He tossed the bits to Cirrus who caught them with a grin. “Shiny stuff for the pretty birdbrain.”
There, in the middle of the common room was Rain perched atop the shelf, munching on an imaginary sheet of seaweed. Specifically the one which Dewdrop was absentmindedly gesturing around with during a conversation. His drool was already staining his uniform.
Rain shifted his balance, he leaped off and scored a harsh landing on Dew.
They crashed into a wall. Rain’s teeth sunk into the fire ghoul’s wrist but his victim didn’t let go; He would get his treat.
And he did achieve that, as Dewdrop was more focused on shaking the water ghoul off than holding on the seaweed.
I‘m still utterly lost with how Tumblr works 😭Anyways I logged in tho share little excerpts of my recent writing. It‘s undergoing heavy editing but I hope to keep it relatively similar. We don’t talk about the punctuation, I‘m working on it lol
“She‘s a bitch,“ Rain mouthed towards Dewdrop, „just like you.“ Dew‘s eyes locked onto Cirrus, studying her hectic tail movement. „Yeah.“ Rain giggled at Dewdrop not having registered the hidden insult targeted at him. „Just like you“
“Both of you, no violence in public, we talked about that.”, Cirrus sighed and dragged the smaller ghoul further away. Some distance would help them cool off. “Gonna make fish filet out of your tail.”, Dewdrop whisper-shouted at Rain before he was completely out of Rain’s hearing distance. He wouldn’t get beaten by a stupid bipedal infernal shark with horns.
„Aether, ghouls can‘t shapeshift into dinosaurs“, his partner deadpanned. „Oh, but they did! Stegosaurus, antaracitosaurus, diplodocus and what-not-saurus. Scales, teeth and all!“ Aether‘s tail thumped agitated. „I leave them for five minutes and this shit happens, I‘m so done with daycare duties…“
If I keep this pace of writing then I‘d probably get to upload those two works by, like idk, August. I write about 200 words a month (on a good day). But that’s mainly because I spend so much time drawing instead. Oh, and happy new year everyone!
There‘s nothing more motivating than making a little preview while the fic is still a work in progress. Seeing all the tags coming together is so satisfying. I actually have fun writing for once! That wasn‘t the case 8 years ago when I began to write fanfiction. I‘m very set on finishing my first work for ao3. Truth be told, I never finished a work before and I haven‘t dared to write any since 5 years ago. While I‘m certainly more than rusty and don‘t have too high expectations towards my writing, the fic is still one of my beloved creations.
