Five miles off the South Carolina coast, Darden and Catherina are getting their promised forty acres, all of it undersea. Like every Black “mer,” they’ve been experimentally modified to adapt to their new subaquatic home—and have met with extreme resistance from white supremacists. Darden has an inspired plan for resolution. For both those on land and the webbed bottom-dwellers below, Darden is hoping to change the wave of the future.

I was watching ComicPop and just found out about Starship Godzilla coming out in the fall.

This is something I've begged for since I was a kid! I don't know how I missed the announcement in February, but I am so damned hyped! Between this and the Mothra (that is currently releasing, you all better be reading it) IDW is making my Kaiju dreams come true. Thank you!

As summer turns to fall, IDW will round out the line's initial three-series lineup with Starship Godzilla #1 by writer Chris Gooch (In Utero) and artist Oliver Ono (Godzilla: Monster Island Summer Camp).

For the first time in Toho canon, this trip through the stars will bridge the gap between the various alien races. They’ve come to Earth in past tales, but now it’s time to visit their worlds as a crew of misfits embark on high-risk high-reward kaiju-based missions with a secret that could impact the whole universe.

IDW And Toho Announce "Godzilla" Shared Universe Comic Plans

IDW Publishing and Toho International have extended their partnership through 2029. The companies have kaiju-sized plans for a new Godzilla connected universe - The Kai-Sei Era. This Godzilla Universe will commence with three titles, consisting of different genres and tones - Godzilla, Godzilla: Escape the Deadzone, and Starship Godzilla.

IDW will also continue releasing titles outside the shared universe, like the upcoming Godzilla: Here There Be Aliens, Godzilla: Heist, Godzilla vs America, and Mothra: Queen of the Monsters.

Godzilla hails from writer Tim Seeley and artist Nikola Čižmešija. "In 1954, an experiment with a mysterious energy source called Kai-Sei awakened Godzilla and other terrifying kaiju. For decades, humanity has endured an onslaught of monster attacks. While Japan views these unstoppable rampages like natural disasters, the United States’ G-Force is attempting to fight these seemingly immortal titans. Godzilla: Escape the Deadzone hails from writers Ethan Parker and Griffin Sheridan and artist Pablo Tunica. The comic introduces a half-human, half-kaiju and "will explore the biggest mystery of the new connected universe… What is the truth behind the post-apocalyptic Deadzone?" (IDW Publishing)
