Leaving the castle had of course meant some responsibilities had been neglected and upon returning to the castle Gotrik of course addressed them immediately. He was not a man to leave things unfinished. However that meant a few other things had to wait like Lucas. Gotrik wasn’t a man who did guilt, but he did perhaps feel just a tiny bit bad he had left his pup home alone and probably very bored. He was certain the boy had gotten up to plenty of mischief, but hopefully nothing he’d have to punish him to harshly over.
But he had decided it was time to see Lucas and he approached the boy’s room with a box. He would never apologize for simply leaving he was after all a Council man he could do whatever he pleased. He answered to no one and certainly not a pet, but a gift was as close as he’d ever get to admitting perhaps he had done something he shouldn’t or not done something he should have. “Hello pup did you miss me?” He held the box casually teasingly. He was hoping the boy’s curiosity would forestalling any pouting or tantrum from having been left alone for more than a month.

Lucas lounged in his room. It had been a long time since he’d seen Gotrik or even Kang. If he was being honest with Gotrik being gone for so long he started to think he’d been abandoned by someone else. It was hard to comprehend the thought but no guards came to get him and drag him to the undercroft so that served as some reassurance, but just incase - he’d hidden all the valuables he’d stollen from around the castle in various other locations that only him in his spirit form would be able to reach. Insurance for if everything went tits up.
He heard Gotrik enter the suite and then rumage around before finally coming to his room. Lucas himself was reading in bed, barely glancing up from it when the master came in. “No. I don’t miss anyone.” he pouted, trying to act as though he’d managed just fine alone. When he had repeatedly gone to check the others room to see if he had arrived in the middle of the night. He didn’t like being alone. “The castle is boring.” he frowned, before turning his full attention to the other, his eyes catching a glance at the box. “What’s that?” he questioned.
