Reaction to Miraculous Finale
So many things to think about in regards to this finale, how do I even start….
1. Malediktor/Style Queen/Despair Bear
Isn’t this the whole reason heroes keep their identity a secret in the first place? And Chloe is getting a first hand experience as to the consequences of her revealing her identity… her family is now akumatized and out to get her because she is putting herself in danger by being Queen Bee. Queen Bee even says, not a moment before her akumatized family shows up, “I will never let myself be controlled by my emotions.” and yet, after a little fighting, is taken over by the villains. Especially after we find out in The Queen’s Battle trilogy how much her mom means to her… The build up of the episodes in regards to Chloe and to have this scene in the finally really goes to show how far this series has grown in terms of plot development
2. “Are you sure you’re not making a grave mistake? That the wish I want to make won’t be incredibly beneficial for everyone?” “For every wish…there is a price to pay”
This is such a powerful line and the idea that Ladybug understands this is incredible. You look at the akumatizations and each one comes from a wish that is grossly amplified to cause havoc. “I want Kim to like me” “I want to be noticed” “I want to be a superhero” Every single time the price paid is chaos and the people of Paris getting hurt. Ladybug, who is in the thick of all the fights, knows the price of a wish far too well.
3. “It’s too damaged, it’s far too dangerous” “I wanted to help you, no matter the price”
This simply goes back to the price of a wish. Natalie wanted to help him and the price, although steep, was worth it in her mind. Makes me think this is possible foreshadowing for when Gabriel’s true wish regarding Emilie is about to happen he reconsiders the cost of the wish (which might involve Natalie and possibly Adrien). And then Gabriel thanks Natalie, showing genuine care for her which is more than he has shown his son in two seasons I want this theme to come back later.
4. “I just wanted to…. thank you”
This had me shocked and I loved it. Besides just appealing to my fangirl side, I love the development of Marinette. She has slowly grown and not stumbled over her words with Adrien and finally she was able to make a step forward in her feelings towards him. She was relatively calm and simply knew her intentions. This ending to season 2 wrapped up Marinette’s full development in this season and sets the stage for next season since it is now explicitly clear as if it wasn’t already but whatever that Marinette is interested in him romantically.
I loved this finale, I think it was great wrap to this season and really shown how much the characters have developed and how much the superheroes have learned about themselves and their powers. Now back to the hiatus…
