He laid his wineglass aside taking his sweet time while doing and made his way down the stairs where the mistletoe hangs on the ceiling. “10 minutes … only 10 minutes. “, he murmured, while folding his hands behind his back. The dark hall was full of people and Malekith wasn’t really eager to kiss anyone of those. He assumed that everybody knew that the mistletoe hangs there, but when you’re in a hurry you easily forget those things, right? “Two minutes done, eight more to go. ”, Malekith thought quietly.
He ran through his hair with long thin fingers, begging for the time to pass faster and that nobody has the urgent need to speak to him, at least not now. To admit, the mistletoe idea wasn’t one of his best decisions, yes it was amusing to watch others turning awkward, but standing here and waiting for something unpleasant to happen, was as enjoyable as burning alive. One of Malekith’s generals entered the hall, holding a letter with a red ribbon in his hand and he was obviously searching for his king. “Oh no, not you.” ,Malekith’s expression was difficult to decipher, but above all he didn’t seem to be happy, “Focus Malekith.”
He glared through the wide room and started grinning as he spotted Algrim in the crowd. “Perfect timing my dear.”, he said, “Algrim! Come here immediately! “ ,he shouted through the hall with a harsh voice. The soldier turned and crossed the hall in fast steps. “What is it Malekith?”, he asked after a short bow. Malekith didn’t answer right away, he observed the general with narrowed eyes, while he moved through the hall directly to Malekith. That was the signal for the elfking to quickly inform Algrim to make conversation to prevent the elf from coming here. He wouldn’t interrupt a conversation of his king would he? Algrim slightly confused did as he was told to, but mid-sentence Malekith stopped talking and he signed in relief: “He’s gone.” “And now care to explain what that was about?”, Algrim asked and added: “Oh.” As he looked up. “Please stay here for the next 6 minutes.”, Malekith informed him and however it seemed to be a beg it was a command in reality. “Don’t give me that look Algrim, it was a dare.” Algrim raised his brow: “You said that often these days.” For a moment there was silence, but then Malekith started to laugh: “It wasn’t my intension to have such a thing as an excuse for my actions.”
The moment the remaining minutes had passed Malekith clapped his hands and a smile danced on his thin lips: “Well Algrim I guess I have to fulfil this strange tradition then.” The king said in a calm tone, while he grabbed Algrim’s collar, pulling him close. The advisor gasped in shock of the sudden movement, but he calmed down the next moment, while one of Malekith’s hands was rested at Algrim’s neck and the other played with his white soft hair. The elfking brought their lips together, it was rough but neither of them really cared. After mere seconds Malekith pulled back, he breathed cold air against Algrim’s lips and walked a step backwards, turned and walked the stairs up without saying anything, leaving Algrim there confused.
I fear that this ‘truth or dare’-thing is killing me … a slow… painful … death.
