This is a blog for/about aquatic therians/kin (basically all alterhumans)

we will mainly post tips and experience and obviously respond to asks.

At the time of posting this we have submissions open so you can share your own stuff (if it gets misused we will remove it sadly)

Soon the members will do intros so you can know a lil about us.

Hiya! I'm not sure if this blog is still being ran, but I think it would be fun to share my experiences if it is!

I am a coconut octopus. I've known this for about half a year, and have known I'm an octopus in general for almost two years. I have strong desires to taste and touch the world around me, I love collecting beach trinkets, and adore the ocean floor. I have physical shifts where I can almost feel the arms that are supposed to be around my mouth and mental shifts where I find myself moving more like the octopus I am. I experience a lot of dysphoria with having bones, not living in water, and just generally being shaped wrong.

I don't swim, particularly because I'm a benthic organism and honestly? All swimming does is remind me of how my body isn't shaped right. I like the taste of some seafood, but a lot of it I sadly have texture issues with. And I don't really cope with gear, at least not the traditional forms. A mask would be cute, but that would feel a bit too restrictive for me. Most other forms of traditional gear don't really apply.

HOWEVER! I do like collecting octopus and ocean imagery! I have a whole bunch of cephalopod plushes, and a couple sweaters two. I also enjoy coping with VR, stretching(especially for contortionism!), and relaxing at the beach.

There aren't a whole lot of other therians in my life. The one or two that are therians aren't aquatic animals or invertebrates. But even though there's nobody in my life who quite understand exactly how I feel, I'm still happy to say that there are plenty that support me and are here to help me be me.

Heya, yeah this is still being run. Thank you for sharing your experiences! It's always fun to hear about how others view themself and what does and does not work for them.

I personally can relate a bit to the swimming part as I mainly use my tail, which goes left-right rather up-down, to move around. Still I do enjoy scubadiving as both a hobby and to feel more like that part of me!

oh my gosh this is so exciting!!! hiii!! i dont really know what to say but i guess i should talk about my aquatic types. i heavily kin the family stomiidae (dragonfishes and other cool stuff) and heavily HEAVILY kin viperfish (image attached) i love fish and i love researching about fish instead if doing achoolwork and i also highly kin the abyssal zone of the ocean (placekin) which i dont know if thats what youre looking for but i felt it was similar so i thought id share. i wish all aquatic beings and nonbeings a very very lovely day also follow me if you wish

Experiences with The Deep

While I do not mainly present my Undyne fictiotype (identifying more at this moment with other kins), I have had a lot longer to feel out my connections and how that has impacted my life. I used to love swimming, for instance, but stopped enjoying it as the feeling of chlorine in my hair became unbearable. I still enjoy aquariums, lakes and oceans, but I long more for the depths, the places where the monsters lurk… the places where light seldom ever goes, the places of looking up and not seeing the surface, the feeling of never having to surface for air…

Hopefully I can get back in touch with that again soon.

has a shapeshifter, hiw can control shifting (well sometimes it just happened but I don’t mind). When I shift into anything aquatic (which is normally in water, cus I don’t want to be a fish out of water). It makes me so euphoric, too feel my fins/tail glowing through the water. Sometimes jumping and diving like whales or dolphin swimming makes me really happy. Tho I’m not an aquatic alterhuman, I do still sometimes shift into aquatic things! If u what question pls ask away! ^^

I do love normal swimming well anything to do with water tbh (always have. Probably the biggest sign for me of being selkiekin)

I'm merperson otherkin and I have felt connected to the water as long as I can remember. I feel misty comfortable and most at home when I am swimming. I personally feel more like like a merperson than I feel like a human. I especially like the lake and being in nature.

Hiii! Not really a question here but I saw your post in the alterhuman community and I wanted to say hi :3 I’m a cat therian and am currently questioning an aquatic kintype. I’ve always loved the water but my anxiety doesn’t let me feel comfortable in the ocean. I much prefer freshwater. I love staying motionless deep underwater for long periods of time and i love to swim like a snake, which makes me think I might be an eel? Either way I wanted to contribute to here :3

Advice for younger alterhumans

(Focusing a lil more on therians)

(A bit of rambling )

Pt.1 the biggest thing

So let’s start with the biggest thing and that is: some people just hate us.

Now that can be for a variety of reasons.

example: I know someone who hates alterhumans because she was stalked by one for months.

(More below the cut because this is a big post)

List of common reasons:

Some people hate us because those of us who have past lives go against their religion.

Some people just don’t like people who are different.

Some people think we are mentally ill.

Some people think we are zoos.

Some people think we are furries and because they hate furries they hate us.

Pt.2 keeping yourself safe

So this is extremely important if you are a minor Because most likely you live with a parent/guardian.

So how do you ensure you are safe?

Well it’s not that hard

1. Only tell people you trust. if you want to check if it’s safe to tell someone mention therians in conversations and see how they react.

2. Remember that there are community’s online that you can make friends on if you can’t tell anyone irl about your identity. (Therian guide.net is one)

3. If your parents/guardians are supportive you can find fellow therians on international therian day just draw the therian delta in your hand.

Pt.3 what if I don’t have shifts?

So lets make one thing clear not all therians have shifts a good chunk do but they are not what make you a therian/Otherkin.

Also it’s perfectly fine and quite common not to know you therotype/Kintype right away.

It’s also perfectly fine to be mistaken on your therotype/Kintype for example: I went through a period of thinking I was a crow therian

(I do think I have a winged thero/Kintype but that’s a story for another day)

So pretty much it’s ok to be mistaken infact most alterhumans are at first .

Pt.4 The pros and cons of packs

so as someone who has had experience with packs

some of the pros and cons are.

Pros:

.1 most of the time you can find people of a similar age to you.

.2 you have people who you can talk to who understand.

Cons:

.1 they have lots of dark stuff in the vent channels (and nearly all of them have vent channels)

.2 because most of them are mainly minors you will have certain groups try to infiltrate the server (happened to a close friend of mine).

.3 sometimes because of mental health stuff that seems to coincide with alterhumanity (not saying everyone I am just going off my experience)

you will have to witness someone documenting and sharing their attempts.

.4 hater raids so normally they’ll spam nsfw content (it can be photos of animal cruelty or other stuff)

Swamp & Rhycian’s intro

We’re new to tumblr so hopefully we’re posting this in the correct spot-

Anyways, we‘re Swamp(it/swamp/vine/mud/muck) and Rhycian(he/him)! We’re two of about a dozen senses of self in one body. The other senses of self may also interact or even post here, but we‘re the ones with aquatic kintypes, so we‘re the main fellows here! 

I, Swamp, am an unknown species that lives in swampland(hence my name lol). It’s likely that I’ll post various stuff trying to figure out my species, if it’s even identifiable. 

I, Rhycian, am an eastern dragon who could summon rain and was connected to rivers and other areas of freshwater!
