Prisoners Of The Highways And Byways
Various!Transformers x fem!reader oneshot part two
Just straight up tooth-rotting fluff, like so fluffy itâs probably cringe, the bots are so in love with you itâs pure cotton candy level tooth-rotting lol and ofc pet names, as always
Optimusâ deep voice calling your name softly is what stirs you awake. Blearily, you sit up from the cab bunk and rub your eyes. Itâs barely morning on your second day of travel, sun not quite peaking over the horizon, turning the sky a powdery blue.
You can see what looks to be a truckers rest stop in the middle of the woods just out of the windshield. A few different colored freight haulers parked in the lot.
Optimus answers before you can ask,
âRatchet and I have decided it best to stop at a small rest station for you to refuel and stretch your legs.â
You hum noncommittally, still groggy.
âHow long was I asleep for?â
Ratchet answers through Optimusâ speakers,
âNine hours and thirty seven minutes. Youâd seemed exhausted before youâd laid down, so we agreed to let you sleep till we found a place for you to get some nourishment.â
You reach your hands above your head, stretching the muscles in your upper back, causing a few pops as your shoulders and back cracks.
A sleepy smile spreading across your face as you respond to Ratchet,
âThank you, Ratch. Just what the Doctor ordered, yeah?â
You hear him snort, making you chuckle as he mutters something about âobstinate patientsâ and âwouldnât be so exhausted if they actually listenedâ.
âLove ya, Doc.â You simper.
âYeah, yeah, love you too, Dearest.â He snarks with no real heat to his words.
Making your way to the passenger seat with a silent laugh, you see the rest of the team parked around you and Optimus.
âWell, well, well,â Jazz hums, âGood morning, Pretty Lady. Lovely seeing your sweet face first thing.â
Static crackles over the speakers as Bumblebeeâs radio clicks to a song,
Hello! My ragtime gal!â
Smiling giddily, but still a little tired, you stretch again, only to cringe as your stomach growls.
âGo get something to eat, my Dear. We still have many miles to travel.â
You reach into your bag to grab your wallet, counting how much money is left. Youâll definitely need to find a job when you get to your new destination.
Optimusâ door opens for you and you shiver at the brisk morning air, grabbing your hoodie to throw it on.
As you exit, your legs wobble slightly when your feet hit the ground. You steady yourself with a hand against Ironhideâs door, amusement lilting his tone, yet gruff voice soft only for you as he speaks,
âCareful there, Sweetspark. Slept so long ya forgot how to walk, huh?.â
âOh, very funny, âHide.â
You snicker lightly and bump your hip against his front bumper. His engine revs and you can hear his chuckle through the sound.
Chime sounding as a middle aged gentleman holds open the door for you, you thank him quietly as an older lady looks up from her crossword book and greets you with a kind smile, voice raspy, âGood morning, sweetie. How are ya?â
You exchange pleasantries, use the restroom, then move to collect some food and drinks for the rest of the ride. Luckily, this rest stop had some fresh fruit in a couple baskets by the counter. You grab a few of them, along with a cup of coffee and a breakfast sandwich. Watching the older lady make it with practiced ease. You spot your favorite candy bar at the counter being sold two for one, so of course you grab two.
âIs that your husband out there? I see a lot of long-haul truckers coming in here. Some of them bring their wives on shorter trips. Reminds me of my Randy and I, all those years ago.â A wistful look glosses her eyes as you huff a nervous laugh.
âSomething like that.â You say, sneaking a glance at the blue and red Peterbilt sitting outside, blush threatening to spread across your face.
As she rings up your items, she continues the conversation,
âThe man sent you in to do all the shopping, eh? Typical. Let the lady do all the work to feed everybody.â She rasps a good natured, hoarse chuckle before continuing, âIâm just messing. We do what we can for the people we love, huh?â
You chuckle along with her, glancing out the window at your bots.
Bumblebee flashes his headlights at you, noticing your attention. You shake your head with a fond smile while you pay. Thanking the lady and wishing her a good day.
You carefully make your way to the door, hot coffee and bags full of food and drinks in hand, where yet another middle aged man, holds the door open for you.
âWell, arenât you a pretty little thing! That blue and red rig all yours?â He whistles a low note as he stares at Optimusâ alt mode, âWhole lotta truck for a little lady!â
Snickering, he doesnât wait for you to answer, âYou have a nice day, little missy.â
You flounder a little before mumbling a awkward,
âOh, uh. Thanks. You too.â
Sliding into the space left between Optimus and Ironhide, Optimus opens his door for you and you stash the bags in the floorboard. You stretch a few more times, loosening up some joints and popping others, before climbing back into the passenger seat with a yawn.
The seatbelt slips around you and squeezes slightly, bringing a small, serene smile to your face. You sip on the coffee, the chill still clinging to you from outside slowly losing its bite, and carefully unwrap the breakfast sandwich as Optimus leads the group back onto the road.
You all drive for a short piece before Ironhideâs voice cuts through the quiet atmosphere of the cabin, more growly than normal,
âYou alright, Darlinâ?â
Mouth full of sandwich, you mutter a confused, âYeah, why?â
âSaw that man talking to ya at the door, thought you looked a little uncomfortable afterwards. He didnât say nothinâ crass to ya, did he?â
You swallow before you answer, corner of your mouth lifting at Ironhideâs protective nature,
âNah, just a man being a man.â
You take a water bottle out of one of the grocery bags and rearrange to sit cross legged in the seat, sipping on the cool beverage,
âAsked me if, and I quote, âThat blue and red rigâ was âallâ mine. And then said, âthatâs a whole lotta truck for a little ladyâ.â
Rolling your eyes, you say,
âCalled me a âpretty little thingâ, too.â
Optimusâ voice rumbles through the speakers then,
âWell, he was right about two things.â
Lip quirking up and brow raising, you ask,
There is no humor in Optimusâ voice as he answers, only soft reverence,
âYou are, indeed, very pretty. And, I am in fact, all yours.â
Your eyes widen as a bright red dusts your cheeks. Caught off guard, you laugh breathily as you try and think of something to say.
Before the silence could turn awkward, Jazz and Bee interrupt. Bee playing some love song through the radio as Jazz growls an animalistic sound,
âMe-ow! Who knew Prime had such smooth moves!â
Face flaming red, you laugh heartily, finally gathering your bearings to reply,
âYou gotta stop being so sweet, Op. My teeth are gonna fall out.â
His chuckle is deep and melodious and a comfortable silence settles a second later.
Eventually, you finish your breakfast with a sigh, watching as the sky lightens more and more, fluffy clouds beginning to dot the vast blue.
You hum some random pop song that somehow got stuck in your head, eyes following Bumblebee as he changes lanes ahead of you, and Jazz taking the lane he left.
Ironhide rolls up to the passenger window and you cheekily wink at him, making him blow black smoke as his engine revs loudly. His voice is gravelly through the speakers when he speaks,
âYa know, Prime, I think you got one thing wrong.â
Not waiting for a reply, he continues, voice dropping lower,
âIt ainât just you thatâs all hers.â
Again, a red flush spreads across your face at Ironhideâs husky laugh.
Hearing Bumblebeeâs radio crackle a,
âYou got-that right!â, the song âMy Girlâ by The Temptations begins blaring through his speakers, Jazz crooning along with the chorus, deepening your already blazing red blush.
âI think you guys just like tormenting me.â Placing your hands over your heated cheeks you scrunch your nose, suddenly quite bashful.
Still flustered, you squeak out a plea to the resident medic,
âRatchet, help a girl out here!â
His chuckle gives you zero hope of any help coming from him.
âCanât say I disagree with them, Doll.â
âOh câmon, Ratch! Youâre supposed to be on my side!â
After quite a few hours and more stops at gas stations and convenience stores, you find it finally beginning to darken out, little stars twinkling in the evening sky, the moon full and bright.
A contented sigh escapes you as you bite into a candy bar and watch the scenery blur by from the safety of Optimusâ cab. You rub a hand down the inside of the door handle and the seatbelt tightens in response.
A silent show of affection between you two.
Nearing midnight now, yawns start coming more and more frequently. You hear Ratchet clear his throat and before he could say anything, you speak with a slight laugh,
âI know, Doc, I know. âGo to bed.â Yeah, yeah, Iâm going.â
You rinse your mouth with mouthwash before bedding down and wishing the bots a goodnight. You get a goodnight back from each, along with their preferred pet name for you tagged on the end.
You fall asleep with a smile pulling at your lips as the low rumble of Optimusâ tires across the road lulls you into a feeling of peace and security.
Iâm alive you guys!! Still working on those chapter based fics but I decided to write a second part to âPrisoners of the Highwayâ so I can have something else out there for yall to enjoyâŚIâm gonna be so honest though, Iâm not 100% happy with how this turned out BUT oh well hahaha
I hope you guys do enjoy this one anyway!! I absolutely adore fluff (if you canât already tell) so I may go overboard with it sometimes lol but hey, you need some completely and utterly tooth-rotting fluff every now and then, am I right?
Thank you to @aurox031 for giving me the idea of writing a second part!!
