but it’s arthur and merlin. it’s arthur having learned that all who possess magic are evil. it is merlin learning to fear the name pendragon before he can speak. it is when arthur learns that merlin is a monster and loves him enough to understand that he isn’t one at all. it’s is merlin meeting the young and spoiled prince who ‘has been trained to kill since birth’ and loves him enough to recognise that monsters dont have to train to kill - they do it without prompt or teaching. it is two sides of the same coin. the monster was never a monster. though it’s only as you love it that u realise.
