Thoughts on the new Mizisua video!
- I know a lot of fans seem somewhat shocked or confused why the dynamic is so different but tbh while it is unexpected to see zombie Mizi not hold back Sua’s hand/a little slow on reciprocation overall and Human Mizi neglecting Sua in this way, I kinda thought it was always like this 😭 Mizisua had always been engaging in self-harmful behaviors and watching the other disintegrate excluding a few occasions where the situation gets too desperate to ignore anymore, leading them to harm each other too
- I don’t think Sua has become more obsessed, I just think vivinos storytelling has improved where you don’t have to dig through multiple comics, the patreon, the artbook, and Twitter to properly understand the two’s characters to just integrating Mizisua’s toxicity into the main MVS, so it’s much more evident and ‘vile’ when Mizisua hurt each other, especially Mizi hurting Sua. Mizi still loves Sua, seen in their HS flashbacks, being the one to initiate holding hands with Sua, practicing together, her distress at the idea of not being idols with Sua, and the hesitation to pursue their dream without her, perhaps even seeing her opportunity as a way to eventually bring Sua to the spotlight as well (though that is just speculation, but it feels very fitting with how hard they have always done everything together, in both OG alnst and here) .
- ^ to add on this AU of Sua is the same girl that injected needles into herself, choked herself, and entertained the idea of dying pathetically (going way back in her childhood) on the daily to gain autonomy through Sacrifice and acting as Mizi’s god. Whose literal favorite/best subject was determined by Mizi needing more assistance in said class, among her favorite pastime involving Mizi, and implied to have fucked her in bathtub settings/a quiet secluded space resembling an endless bed mattress. Wearing her dress that was too big for her chest area. Wanted them to live in an ideal fantasy with Mizi until she ‘beautifully’ lost to not deal with the consequences of a broken delusion. No yeah she would definitely go seek out zombie Mizi break in a guarded building to kiss her and get infected herself.
- While Mizi was exploited and became a new version of herself that was too distressed to properly take care of Sua, Sua can also be seen being toxic beyond just codependency, as she smiles at Mizi’s body without much care for her damaged body, solely focusing on being together. It’s selfish to kiss Mizi (without consent) and it’s purely for herself that she wants to be with her, but it’s her most human act, second being her only trying to take initiative to prevent Mizi from spiraling any further after Mizi gives away her gift of clematis flowers. Not that she doesn’t care for Mizi’s well-being, seen as she tries to prevent Mizi from smoking and going on a walk with her, but she noticably only reacts and realizes it reaches its peak + wants to intervene (the cigarette was the last straw) when it starts harming their relationship rather than getting increasingly distressed at Mizi’s exploitation through the various ads and videos
- No guys, Mizisua is not becoming the OG Ivantill. They both love each other very much but being in the k-pop industry like Mizi was will impact any relationships she has. Ivantill were ‘one-sided’ because they didn’t take the time to understand each other and Ivan always aggravated Till rather than treating him gently because he believed he could never sway Till’s view of him unaware he already has by making Till go from seeing him as a potential friend and a small crush to a friend who confuses him and doesn’t love him back. One’s rooted in their entire childhood, one stayed mostly intertwined until heteronormativity and sexualization came. I can understand the similarities, especially since Sua kisses Mizi without asking for consent/Mizi not leaning in like three times, but to say Ivantill and Mizisua are ‘swapping dynamics’ isn’t fitting when you got still Mizi fussing over Sua in the comics that are in someway connected to the main story + in their highschool days in the MV
- I’m unsure how the MV is connected to the comic. So far, I think it could be that the comic is similar to the HS AU in the MVS and holds the same characters and their traits, but has different circumstances compared to the MVs, almost like a what-if within a what-if (What if the main 6 were all together to build a stronger, better support system, and spent their time together before graduating to live peaceful lives due to their new connections and have a stronger understanding of their partner rather than the ones shown in the MVS? What if they watch said movie to reflect on who they were initially going to become compared to who they now want to be?). Mizisua beginning scene explained point after bc honestly it confuses me the most on narrative order
- It could also be that the two are directly related and the movie they’re watching is somewhat haunted or otherworldly, which predicts their lives and uses the zombie apocalypse to parallel the rest of their future after Mizisua fight and break up. That the two do actually become idols together far after that fight after Sua’s desperate attempts to get into the same agency, but Sua will always be inferior to Mizi and many creepy fans fetishize and sexualize them. The mizisua beginning scene (in both points) would have never happened, future or now, as it could to represent Sua’s Perfect Clean Model self that she had when she was in ALNST, and Mizi’s old dirty sinful self that watched her mom die and contributed to Sua’s death. Same kind of concept with the trailer Ig since they seemed to be infected as children when in the MV they got infected as adults
- And my final prediction of how the two are related is that pieces of the comic and pieces of the movie are mixed together, with the highschool and training segments being from this world but everything after graduation + beginning scene of Mizisua with the dead rat is within the Movie. They don’t actually watch themselves do what they’re doing in the present, but rather a ‘possible result’ from their efforts.
- I really love Zombie Stage, I appreciate the audacity and effort to try to write another version of the story that really pushes forward those K-pop industry standards and showcases them to the audience with a glaring red neon sign saying ‘ALIEN STAGE AND THE CHARACTERS WERE ALWAYS MEANT TO PORTRAY THE EFFECTS OF TOXICITY FROM THE K-POP INDUSTRY, WITH THE PARASOCIAL OBSESSIVE FANS AND SHIT MANAGERS.’
- can’t wait to see ivantill round!!! Someone predicted on TT it’ll be like a circus acrobat act and I can definitely see it, especially with the new Ivan art saying he has to do a lot of costume changes, dramatic body expression, and random ass flips/splits. If they do those swinging bars act where the two partners have to be entirely coordinated I could see Ivan trying to get Till to synchronize with him but Till just cant so Ivan falls off on purpose to lose
- While we’re on this can we see Luka do the splits
