Still a month to go for back to school, but I decided for the first time since I got this studyblr to try to do a back to school series. Here I leave 7* apps that made all the difference in my daily life, not only as a college student but as a student and person in general.
Microsoft OneNote
Do you make digital notes in class? Summaries of readings? Plans for projects you can share with other group members? Planning ideas for your final work? OneNote is the ideal option as it allows you to share with anyone you want, to organize each of your notes in detail with folders and markers. Always with the advantage that you have access wherever you are to files without having to keep saving and sending to thousands of places.
CamScanner
Although some of the features are premium, it’s something that has saved my life. I spend my life getting readings to do, and several times it is necessary to buy books when I only need to read a single chapter. So instead of using photos, this app gives me the advantage of a simple photo becoming a pdf file where I can work.
Forest
Concentration problems? Used to let short breaks earn you the need to study? And that quick sneak peek at social networks? Using the Pomodoro technique this app allows you to improve concentration and your study. Since for every complete cycle, we are creating a tree and a forest. I’ve always had problems with this kind of apps because I need rewards to be able to break bad habits. With Forest, I let my stubbornness win because I hate to leave the app and kill a tree.
Mindly
In the middle of my dozens of ways to study, learn and organize my life, I believe mind maps are a huge help, as they are simple to read and attention-grabbing. Because of that, I feel in love with Mindly during my freshman year in college. It made me improve my study in many ways, as it allowed me not only to build something that always goes with me but also to improve the way I communicate with my groupmates as ideas were not just on paper with a single member.
iStudiez Pro
I hate needing the internet and a lot of work surfing the college server just to get access to information about my grades, teachers or classes. That’s why I have the habit of at the beginning of each semester to point all the information of each teacher and schedules in my bullet journal, but I don’t always have it with me. iStudiez Pro has become the ideal solution for this as I can put together all the information I need throughout the semester regarding my academic life.
Mobilis
Regardless of being a student or not, there are countless expenses in our daily life, and the reality is that money disappears like magic without realizing it. As someone who hates to spend money in vain or in excess I am always looking for apps that help me with my financial management and Mobilis surprised me positively, it is in Portuguese so it may not be the best solution for everyone, but the reality is that I don’t have access to Mint, that I really love, on my phone and had to find an alternative. Mobilis let you keep track of spending, give you weekly tips, lets you budget to avoid overspending, shows you where you spend more than ideally averaging, and even offers in-app coins every time we use the app to earn rewards. It doesn’t have to be this app, but the reality is that a financial management app is a big help.
Lifesum
The hard reality I discovered with college is that control of what we ingest sometimes becomes null and void. With that in mind and hoping to maintain a healthy diet, I found that Lifesum has everything I ever wanted to help me. Although this app also has premium features for those who can afford it I recommended it, as they offer eating plans with numerous recipe suggestions. But the free version is also a lifesaver, allowing you to measure over time body weight and measurements to see improvements, they have water, fruit and vegetable trackers, it allows us to take a test to see what needs improvement in our diet, we can record each food we eat by searching or barcode, such as exercise we do and see how many calories we eat daily such as carbohydrates and so on.
Bonus*: Freedom
If you really want to improve your productivity, but Forest isn’t for you. I recommend Freedom, an app and website blocker compatible with your phone and computer. You still can set your timer and when started it will immediately block every one of the apps and websites that you choose.
