They don't tell you in the Bible that eating fruit is a euphemism for having sex. They don't tell you that Eve was created in Lilith's exact image either, or that Lucifer was in love with Lilith
It's almost like Lilith Eve's parents wanted to curse the poor girl from birth. Lilith Eve Adams, often called Lily, a beautiful girl with silken hair made of gold. Eyes like a lawn sparkling with dew in the morning. A quiet one who was a little strange but truely herself in ways others weren't. Always wandering into the woods behind her family's estate, which was handed down from previous generations of Adams, where sometimes she’d stumble upon things.
One peculiar find she discovered at the sweet age of 16 was the rather eerie shack several miles into the woods. It looked to be abandoned but recently of use. Melted candles, books with odd looking text, meat that had spoiled, and numerous other articles pointing to recent inhabitants of the small building.
She had on a fine dress that day, her mother having a fit when she saw the soot, dirt and blood on it. But Lily couldn't stop herself, the curiosity, and the pull to venture into the building was too strong. Almost as if she could hear it whisper her name, telling her just to have a peek. It wasn't until she saw an odd looking horn in a pile of blood that Lily thought she ought not be there. But having never seen such a horn as this one, she picked it up out of the blood.
"It smells...sweet. Not like rotten meat. Almost like the bakery in town. Like their cinnamon twists that I love."
Lily brought it close to her face upon seeing something carved into the grooves of the horn. She saw the same odd looking text as in the book, not paying attention to the splattering of blood on her dress. Attempting to wipe away the blood from the text did little, as the horn seemed to be the one oozing it. Although where, Lily couldn't tell you.
She wrinkled her nose up at the feeling of the thick blood on her hands, watching some of it drip to the floor. It was darker then any blood she'd seen before. Not quite brown like old blood but...much thicker and darker then any blood she had shed before.
After quickly putting the horn in the pocket of her dress she walked over to the book of odd looking text. Noticing it looks to be covered in dirt as if it were buried. Lily reached to open the book, cutting a finger on the metal corner of the cover. Hissing, she put the cut finger which was covered in both her blood and the blood of the horn, into her mouth to stop the flow. She found the mixture to be oddly sweet but put her attention back onto the book.
"I've never seen this language. Is it Russian? Greek? But it looks like neither, almost like an entirely different language from any I've seen. But...it's so beautiful...and elegant. There are extra markings around the top, they don't seem to be a part of the text in the middle. But of the same language"
Once she opened the thick leather and metal cover, Lily found a scroll-like material in place of the paper. Gently rubbing the rough and uncut edges of the "paper" she tried to make sense of the text. About half way through the book she found an odd picture, almost like it had been imprinted into the paper. It's a crude drawing of a man with long hair straight as a pin, one side darker then the night sky. The other brighter than the sun itself. Eyes as red as rubies sparkling in the sun, dark horns sticking from the sides of his head.
Horns just like the one currently in Lilith's pocket...she ran her hand over the image. Accidentally smearing her blood over him. Feeling as if something in her heart had contracted the moment she looked into his eyes. A quick glance out the broken winder showed that the sun was starting to set, even if she had left the estate right after eating lunch on the back porch. She furrowed her brows, wondering where the time went. Surely it couldn't already be sundown...could it?
Wishing she could stay to find out about the man in the book that Lilith felt as if she'd seen before. Could almost swear she had but wouldn't be able to tell you where or why. It felt wrong to leave the book there once she saw the man. As if, she were leaving such a lonely soul to sink deeper into the ground. Lily felt the sadness in his eyes, burning into her heart.
But she promised him that she would come as soon as she could the next day. Entertaining the thought of packing a small lunch to eat in the shack, at least a snack.
"I'll bring some for you too, in case you're hungry. I can leave it next to the book. Surely the people who visit here could use it. I best get going before the sun completely sets. I'd get so turned around in these woods at night, especially with no torch"
With a sigh, the book closed as Lily started to hurry back home. Not realizing how much of a mess she is. Hands covered in blood and dirt, dress stained, dirt smudged across her face. About an hour to an hour and a half, she finally spots the house's porch.
Pushing her hair out of her face, she rushed up the steps and into the house. Going up the stairs to her bathroom to wash off the horn, which stopped oozing about the time she got to the clearing. She leaves it in her sink to dry while she ate dinner with her parents.
Once she walked across the hall to her bedroom to change as she could already hear her mother telling her off from downstairs for the mess that got tracked in due to not taking off her shoes. Lily decided to go ahead and wash her face, planning on going to bed right after dinner due to the sudden exhaustion from running back from the shack.
Lily walked down the stairs this time instead of sprinting up them as she did before upon hearing her nanny knock on the door, tell her that dinner is done and her parents are waiting at the table for her. She heard her stomach growl as all she ate for lunch was a thick soup and cheese toast. Sat across from her mother Lilith zones out, seeing visions of the man from the book.
"Is he even real? Or just a drawing? Is my mind playing tricks on me? I could have bumped my head on the stairs after lunch. It's possible I took a nap after lunch….but I hear him. I feel him. It feels like if I focused hard enough I could see him as well. Does he feel this way about me? Oh don't be silly Lilith."
If you ask her she would swear she could hear his voice, and it was him whispering her name in such a rich and sweet voice. Unlike any she had heard before. Throughout dinner, she almost felt his eyes on her. Staring straight into her soul in a way. Lily's parents idly chatted throughout dinner, not noticing the state their daughter is in.
And what a state it was. An odd feeling had crept over her while Lily ran back to the estate. Not quite a fear, but an unease. Almost a melancholy due to having to leave the shack after what felt like only mere moments. When in reality, several hours passed since she stepped into the woods. She wondered if this happened to everybody who saw the man. If they got as swept up in him as she has.
Once she ate all that was on her plate, which was more than usual but she felt she needed the extra food in her system after today. Lilith excused herself to bed and once again went upstairs to slip into a gown. She eyed the horn in the sink while she changed, a shiver going down her spine when bending over to pick up the gown that somehow slipped into the tile floor next to her pile of clothes she shed. While she brushed out her hair, Lily felt the temperature drop. Grabbing the robe she quickly wrapped it around her frame.
Shuffling over into her bedroom and crawling into bed after taking off her robe. Pulling the covers up to her chin while yawning, not noticing the door cracked open. Or the figure now standing in the corner of her room by her closet. Within a few moments she's fast asleep. The figure lets out an odd hiss and grins before going away in a vapor of smoke.
Lilith Eve didn't know what affects such a run down shack would have on the upcoming years of her life, how it would expose things that she tried to keep hidden due to her parents. She couldn't imagine what it would result in. Many don't think of her going down such a twisted path that's laid at her feet, all due to one man. A man that ached in so many ways.
