Cute crocheted baby blanket in grey, coral and pink yarn 🧶
Cute handmade crocheted baby blanket for my bestie who is having a baby boy 🥰
My fur baby Alfie thinking he is on TV or something, chilling behind some polystyrene.
For the last few years he has had what we thought was a horrible skin condition. His skin was so itchy he would just sit and groom constantly. He would pull chunks of fur out leaving him bald in patches and covered in scabs and open sores. He was having regular checks by the Vets who were giving him steroid injections to take the itch away and give his skin time to heal. But it would soon wear off and he would be back to his old tricks. He looked miserable and I was embarrassed that people would think we weren’t looking after him. We even had someone call the RSPCA on us for mistreating him, which it’s nice that someone was concerned but made me feel rubbish cause I knew he couldn’t be more loved and cared for.
Overtime, the steroid jabs were not lasting very long as he was getting immune to the effects so the vet agreed to take some skin and blood samples to find out the real reason behind this. We had tried creams, medicines, lotions and even cat jackets to cover his body to stop him grooming but nothing made a difference. The biopsy was our last resort really. The results were in....physically nothing wrong whatsoever with him. It was anxiety! All this time and we finally were able to treat him properly. He is now on his new meds to treat his mental health and he is like a different cat!! His fur has grown back, his skin is perfect, he wants to be petted, he plays and purrs all the time. I have him back and I am so happy he is happy.
A cat with mental health issues...not something I have heard much about but it is absolutely real and I am glad that we and the vet can treat him properly. We don’t know what caused it, we don’t know what triggered it and we don’t know if it is hereditary, we don’t know if something or someone has done something awful to him while he was out, but we can help him with it now. I don’t think all the trips to the vets for check ups and jabs helped with his anxiety, but hopefully we no longer have a need to take him all the time.
Anyone else had a similar experience?

Made up a crocheted pattern for Poppy from Trolls 🧶
I LOVE TO CROCHET 🧶
I was shown a basic stitch about 10 years ago. I wasn’t sure what to think or whether I liked it or not. But I continued on and ended up teaching myself. I enjoy making crafts!! I also try to avoid reading other people’s patterns too so everything I make has been made up by myself. I have so many note pads lying around with my scribbles in. Maybe one day I will type them up to make them easier for me and others to read.
As well as being able to make creations for others and myself, I find it helps me de-stress and take my mind to another place. I find it very therapeutic and calming. When your mind is focusing on one thing, it takes away all the other things you are trying to focus on while you are trying to count rows and stitches. It is hard to think of much else. I know it is not for everyone but it is my stress reliever.
How, when and why did you learn how to crochet? Or do you do something else to help with your mental health? What else do you like to create?
