imagining how aerion must’ve felt seeing that puppet show in ur dragons are cruel fic is so devastating 😭 the boy just lost his baby dragon he was probably horrified no wonder he took such offense 💔💔
Yes. YES. You get it.
He had his dragon, after all of that time waiting. Then, he loses it as soon as he gets it. Then, he sees that same dragon he held dearly, for such a short period of time, was slayed in jest.
Everyone laughed and clapped in awe. Like it was a spectacle. It wasn't funny. Not to him.
They're lucky he was too deep in grief to burn the tent down.
if reader and Aerion from your ‘Dragons are Cruel’ series were to ever successfully have a baby, how would that go? I envision the baby being kind of weak (easily getting ill or born with some debilitating condition) and Aerion being soosososo overprotective but trying to act like he’s not
Based off of the "Dragons are precious!", I do think that while Aeron won't be the strongest, he'll probably get his mama's brains. :)
He'd be curious, naturally, but won't pursue anything. Not because of him being shy (afraid of being nudged by his looks), but because of Aerion as well. The boy won't go anywhere without him or his wife. Not even a few yards away. Right by his side, always.
His wife would give him more freedom, not wanting Aeron to feel like he was different or something to hide. That would cause arguments.
Aeron would live, love, have births like his mother, before he is blessed with one. Aeron Targaryen dies at 36, happy and loved.
Aerion follows close behind, dying from madness.
Guys, help me.
Idk wtheck to write-
i want to ask your headcanon for aerion in startled. do you think at some point, he will have a recollection of his girl died. how do you think he will react?
While I don't think I have the brain capacity to create another part, here's what I think would happen:
Sharp-tongued squire... pt. 3 (commoner!fem!reader)
He wasn't being a father.
He was avoiding them for reasons she couldn't fathom. When completing her duties, he'd shoo her away with a saddened look on his face. When her brother needed help, he'd never look him in the eye. She gave him his space, not knowing what was going on in his mind.
But then, she was saddened. Even on his bad or angered days, she still had her father. But now, all she had left was a knight. Ser Berae was a completely different person compared to "father", or simply "papa". Not wanting to be apart any longer, she stormed to their small tent.
Her brother, wheeling himself behind her (he claimed that he wanted to grow stronger without help. She let him, keeping a close eye on his progress), was confused and full of questions. "Won't he be angry?" "Then he'll have to be angry." She retorts, determined.
She pauses when she realizes she was strutting too fast, guilty. "Sorry, little one." Panting in exertion, he grinned. "I'm okay!" She continues at a pace he could keep up with. "Was Parcel good company for you?" This made him nod and start a rant. It fit him, not his previous sadness.
Their father's words cut deep, him being the only thing that they had left. Something like that... you tend to take every word to heart, is all. They reach their tiny tent, finding their father shining his shield. She pauses, frowning on offense. "That's my job."
The man jumps with a curse, apparently lost in thought and aware of their presence. He slowly nodded. "Aye... it is." Silence. "I'm sorry, father." The man is shocked at how little her voice sounded so quickly. He abandons the shield with haste, hands reaching out.
"Whatever for, little blade? Hm?" He cups her cheek gently, voice barely above a whisper. She leans into it, it being the first touch he's provided in days. "I am the one to abandon you out of fear. A foolish thing... I know," He swallows thickly, smiling at her brother who came closer.
"There are no amount of apologies to mend the wounds I've caused." He allowed his eyes to water and his lip to tremble, his voice and demeanor gentle as before. He cups his boy's face and pecks his forehead. He then turns back to his eldest. His only girl.
"It is on me. I am the one with cowardice. So what do you apologize for, my little blade?" She shrugged, feeling small. It was as if she was a girl again, losing her mother once more. "I should have shooed the prince away." His eyes close in regret, him softly calling her name.
She continues. "I shouldn't have entertained him. You're right: I'm as dense as a tree and as stubborn as an ass- or, whatever you say-" "Little blade." He chuckled, going unheard. "Maybe then we wouldn't be unhappy. It is on me- I'm the one who's supposed to-"
"Sister?" She shuts up at her brother's tugging, realizing she was babbling. Her hands were held in theirs. "How many times do I have to tell you that you are to squire, not to take care of us? Hm?" He smoothes down her hair. "... you aren't your mother, little blade. You don't have to be."
She frowns. "I'm the only woman-" "You are still a girl. My girl." He shook his head. "And I'm sorry if you ever got the impression from me that you had to take that responsibility. You don't have to cook, and clean, or wash, or be in charge of our coin. All I want you to do is squire, little blade."
She looks off to the side. "... I can't." "You can." He nodded. "And I'll be around more to help you realize that." He forced her to have the day off, allowing her brother a change of pace. He was allowed to sharpen his sword for a change (under careful instruction and watching).
This left her lost, watching. "... father?" "Hm?" He guides the boys hands, eyes focused on his boy. "Why... what were you afraid of when we left the castle?" He slowly inhales, momentarily closing his eyes. "... the prince made a proposition regarding you and his son."
He started, seeing no point in hiding. "He told me of how enamored he grew so quickly over you. Or how he hadn't seen him that loose or happy in a long time." His eyes grow hazy, making her lean forward. "... papa?" He sighs deeply. "He offered a marriage proposal."
She blinks owlishly. "... for me?" "Not for your brother." He snorts. "He... he said that was all he wanted. You'd still be able to squire for me, just... as a princess, I suppose. Then he offered me a place in his knightsguard. I was angry because I felt as though he tried to bribe me and-"
He adjusted the boy's hands so he wouldn't cut himself. "Barter you. Then I was afraid that I'd lose you without my say in it." Silence filled the tent, the man letting her process everything. "... Prince Valarr?" She questioned, getting a nod. "Yes." She thinks, shifting in her spot.
"Do you like him?" She shrugs. "He's mannerable for a prince-" "That's not what I said." He frowns, giving her a look. "Do you like him, little blade?" "We've spoke only twice," She started. "He only approached me because of some rumor. I'm nothing but a spectacle people get bored of."
She shrinks a bit. "... but, I guess." The man hums, the boy turning. "I think he likes you, sister. He stares at you plenty, like how I stare at Parcel-" "Don't compare me to a horse!" Their father laughed as they started to bicker. "But it's true!" The boy pouts, not seeing the issue.
"This isn't a fairytale. I don't know him, or his morals, or how his personality is behind closed doors." She huffs. "We meet once, then what? We ride off into the sunset only to find out that I have too many muscles for him and he has..." She tried to think of something horrid to say.
Her father, amused as well as understanding her point, raises a brow. "Has?" "I don't know! Boils, or horrid odors, or- something! I am a squire. I will be so until the day that I die." She huffs. "I don't need some entertained and lovesick prince stopping me or my work-"
"You are as stubborn as your mother." The man grumbles. "Good. Someone in this House needs to have some steel ba-" "Watch it, little blade." Ser Berae warns, face hardening slightly, the young boy in his lap pausing his task to eye at the two. He thinks, suddenly confused.
"Aren't princes supposed to marry princesses?" "Thank you." She gestures to her younger brother, as if his genuine question proved her worries true. "That is typically how it goes, as royals marry for gain and power. There is nothing to gain from our sad little House."
"Nothing but love." Ser Berae retorts, giving her a look, getting nothing but an unamused look back. "There is no love there. This is infatuation, father. He knows nothing about me except the fact that I'm a lady-squire. I will not fall for someone who thinks me a spectacle-"
"For the love of- sit down, little blade." The man huffs as she began to pace. She doesn't, jaw clenched. "I am not a momentary thing." At this point, the man starts to nod along with her statements. "I know, little blade." "And I don't take fondly to deals made behind my back."
"Mhm." "Behind my back! That is not how you try to- to court a lady!" "I thought you said you weren't a lady?" She pauses, taking a deep breath at her brother's words. "Thank you, little one." She grumbles sarcastically. "You're welcome?" "My point still stands!"
"In the young prince's defense," Ser Berae stands when the boy is finished with the sword, kissing his head at the decent job he had done. Especially good for his first time doing it. The boy simply beams happily, listening to the conversation.
"I don't think he knew of his father's doing." This makes her shut up. "Being a parent is hard enough," The man sighs, dragging a hand down his face. "And I don't know the half of being a prince. But I know Baelor thought he was doing his son a good favor."
"In doing that, he didn't even consider what I wanted." She frowns, crossing her arms. Ser Berae nods. "He didn't. But that isn't on the young prince. Perhaps he is truly infatuated with who you are. I saw 'im when we left. Looked like a kicked pup," She scoffs in disbelief.
"He did not." "He did." Ser Berae nodded, taking a hold of one of her hands, his grip firm. "Look at me, little one. Truly look at me." He uttered as he leaned in, resting his forehead onto her temple. With nowhere to go, she slowly looks up. He never looked away, eyes serious.
"I don't know why you think so little of yourself. I apologize if I had anything to do with those ugly things that burrow in your mind," He squeezes her hand, his other hand cups the back of her head and neck. "But you are worthy of every dream and hope you have." She closes her eyes, sighing.
"It is up to you, little blade. All of this is... I will be here."
Blah, Blah, Blah! (lowborn!reader, fem!reader, reader is a babbler and he loves it, the mentioned event(s) takes place outside, multiple characters, could be seen as romantic or platonic relationships, not proof read)
PROMPT:
"Your grace, my youngest daughter."
A lord from an upcoming house stands before him, smiling proudly and a bit stiffly as he tried to subtly nudge his staring daughter. Snapping out of it, she bows her head quickly. "Your grace." He nodded, turning to the lord. "Is there something I can help you with?"
"If you aren't terribly busy," He starts. "I would like to ask if you would be so kind as to dance with my daughter." The girl doesn't raise her head, possibly expecting rejection. He knew the importance of the question. A challenge, of sorts, or a plea.
It would do the man's house good, their youngest daughter dancing with a prince. And so, he placed a smile onto his face. "Of course." The girl's head jerks up, eyes wide in shock. "Really-?" Her father nudges her in panic, reminding her of manners. She clears her throat.
"Right. Thank you."
| BAELOR TARGARYEN | - Peppers and Veggies
"Is there something amiss, my lady?"
His voice was full of amusement as he watched her nose flare and twitch. Caught, she quickly looks off to the side. "My apologies, your grace. I didn't mean to seem... improper." She utters quietly. He didn't know her personality or how she acted, but it seemed out of character.
"You're not." He reassured with a nod. "Now... what seemed to irritate you so?" She looked confused. "Irritate? I'm not irritated, I just noticed that the peppers that are served here could have been on the vine for a little bit longer." She hums, mostly to herself.
"While they could technically be considered ripe, I do think that letting them thrive a bit more could have such an impact in any dish you put them in. Especially the hot peppers! But all peppers have a certain degree of..." She shuts herself up awkwardly.
Her eyes dart towards his, amused but attentive, before turning back to their feet. She didn't want to embarrass herself any further by stepping onto his feet. "Acidity and..." She clears her throat. "... right. Sorry. You must think me foolish or boring." She mumbles.
He shook his head with a soft grin. "Not at all. I'm just trying to recall what your house provides, is all." She straightens, a proud grin on her face. "Loads, your grace. But we mostly provide vegetables and herbs. While other houses can specialize in spices, our herbs are-"
A chuckle escapes him as she continued to defend her house and talk more of their harvesting skills. "Why, one time, my grandmother managed to grow ____ in the winter! Winter! And they were absolutely perfect!" He tilts his head, genuinely interested.
"Are ____ difficult to upkeep?" "Depends on the gardener. But, they aren't the type of vegetable to survive during the winter. It's very temperamental to the cold-" "Baelor." Both of them pause, turning to the voice. His father stands there, amused at the bits he overheard.
The girl bows her head, suddenly remembering where she was. King Daeron smiles kindly, softly, before turning to his son. "Rhaegel is growing a bit uncomfortable. Would you mind taking him to his chambers?" Baelor's expression softens at the mention of his brother.
"Of course." He turns to the lady, smiling mirthfully. "Perhaps we could continue our conversation at a later date. I'm finding myself quite interested in what you do," She brightens with a bright grin. "Whenever you want, your grace. I'd be honored!"
She bows again, rushing off. She rushes straight to her father, ranting excitedly. The man looks a bit startled at her sudden appearance, but softens at her excitement. He utters something, placing a hand on her chin. She grins even harder of possible, nodding.
"She seems interesting." His father spoke up, his gaze snapping back to him. He nodded, following the older man as he began to guide him out of the busy crowd of houses. "She's... very passionate in her words. Something court seems to lack, mostly." King Daeron smiles at his fond tone.
"I see."
|| MAEKAR TARGARYEN || - Dresses
"Watch your step."
Maekar reminded her once she almost missed the last step, almost stumbling. Her distracted gaze turns to him sheepishly. "My apologies, your grace. I never meant to..." She trails off, grimacing, most likely scolding herself. "Embarrass you." He simply grunts.
"What has distracted you?" She hesitated to say, but does. "Your daughters." His jaw clenched tightly. "What about them?" Instead of an unwelcome comment, she grins brightly. "Their dresses are wonderfully made, is all." He blinks at this. "And the colors- oh, they're so smart!"
She huffs in a "why didn't I think of that" way. "It absolutely just makes their eyes pop! Although, I would have used a different material for the lace. The little one looks like she's ready to scratch the thing off of her body." He turns, and sure enough Rhae is squirming next to Daeron.
He turns back to her, staring as she goes on about the different materials she's made silk out of. "I even managed to make lace out of cotton once. It was a very hefty process, but it was so beautiful on the babe's swaddle." She recalled. "And then, another time, I... oh."
She caught herself ranting, pursing her lips for a moment. He raises a brow at her sudden silence. "What is the point of starting a sentence if you can't finish it?" She shrinks. "My apologies-" "Apologies for what? I was intrigued and then you suddenly stopped." He huffs.
Her head jerks up at his, almost bumping into his chin. He grumbles about it, but doesn't complain. "Really?" "I wouldn't say something I don't mean." He utters gently. "Oh, I didn't mean you were lying! Not at all! It's just most men have no interest in the things I say-"
This makes him scowl, but he lets her continue. "Mother says that most men are only involved in fighting, work, and finances, really. Although, father is a bit different. He's the only boy, you see. I think he's used to ladies and their hobbies." She nods, proud of her father.
"But, anyway, I do apologize if I offended you. Perhaps I can make up for it? I know that your little ones may have their own tailors and such, but I would like to make them dresses of their own. Ones they're comfortable in." Her question hesitant, eyes finally meeting his.
His were patient, calm for once, his hands slightly squeezing her waist. "... hm. I wouldn't mind. Maybe they'd stop whining about events like this if they were more comfortable." She smiles brightly, making him wonder if her face ever got sore from how much she did so.
"Thank you, your grace. I swear that it will be worth it. All I need is there measurements, surely their current tailor won't have any qualms? Oh, I would also need their favorite colors. While your house colors are beautiful, the gowns are for comfortability,"
Again, he listens patiently. Which was surprising. Usually when ladies tried to speak to him at such events, he'd cut them off. Not her. The dance ends, causing her to stumble a bit from the dewey grass. "You better get to it, then." She grins again, bows, and rushes off-
"Be careful!" (She almost trips.)
°○ DAERON TARGARYEN ○° - Being Strange
"..."
The two danced for a while in silence, more awkward on her end when she kept stepping on his feet. "Oh, sorry!" She grimaced, getting nothing but a nod in return. "It's alright." "I'm not really good at this. Mother insists I practice but my older brothers are always away,"
She started to talk, not really realizing that her mumblings she meant to keep internal started to pour out of her mouth. "And while I love my little brothers, it's quite awkward to practice with them. After all, they have to stand on my feet. And it doesn't help that,"
She momentarily pauses so she wouldn't make the same mistake. His lips twitch in amusement. "That the little one's think I'm a little strange-" "Whatever for?" He asks, making her pause and stare for a while. He didn't mind, staring back. "... I was talking." "You were." He nodded.
"I didn't realize." "I noticed." "Then why didn't you stop me?" "Your noise is a welcome distraction." He didn't explain it any further. It was a distraction from this stupid event, his pounding and sober head, the flashes of his dreams that teased his peripheral vision. A welcomed thing.
"Ah, well... what was your question?" She asks him, head tilting. "Why do your siblings think of you as strange." "Ah." She nods in remembrance, trying to recollect her thoughts. "Perhaps it's because I think childishly. At least, that's what my older sisters and mother say."
She rolls her eyes, and looking off to the side. She then huffs when she almost misses another step. "Pardon me," She says, before kicking off her shoes. She huffs in satisfaction as she feels the grass under her, before continuing casually. He blinks at the whole thing, silent.
"I think it has to do with my etiquette? That along with how I treat "everything as interesting". But everything is. Even the miniscule things. Like, perhaps... garden walls." He raises a brow, lips twitching. "The walls? Don't tell me you befriend them, lady,"
She rolls her eyes at his sarcasm. "Don't be daft." He snorts at her blunt tongue, but continues. "Do you whisper to them your secrets when no one else listens?" "More so the flowers than the walls." "Ah. The flowers." He grins, his teasing coming from a place of intrigue.
"The best thing. I wouldn't tell them too much, however. They'll wilt." "That's what I tell my mother-!" She goes on about how she knows everything listens to her, even the most inanimate things. "I swear it, after I stared at the ceiling tiles for more than a day, they were clea-"
"Daeron." The duo pauses, turning to see his father. The girl slowly parts from the prince, bowing her head as her body stayed stiff. She looks off to the side, hands fidgeting. She really hoped she didn't hear her. It never ended well, word getting back to her mother...
Maekar says nothing about it, however, eyeing her feet. "Put your shoes back on, child. Our gardens might be neat, but I doubt the idiots take care of the grass." With that, the two princes were gone. Daeron is silent, thinking while Maekar stares. "... she was peculiar." Daeron smiles to himself in joy.
"She was."
Part 2 with more characters? I ran out of ideas.
Relations, pt 1 (Targ!reader, platonic relationships, based off of @lalalovelyly and the fact that one of her stories said that Matarys liked bugs and I love that for the boy, lowkey a test-post to see if I still got it, not proof read)
"I don't want to."
She frowns, not meeting her father's eyes. Maekar sighs, grabbing her hand softly. "I'm sorry, little one... but, we don't have a choi-" She jerks away from him, hands gripping her skirts. "He is crude. And a monster." Maekar frowns. "He is your brother-"
"Precisely." She tugs at her skirts, nails digging into her skin despite the layers. Maekar sighs softly. "... he isn't that bad to you, love. Maybe you could find some sort of understanding with him. Find a way for peace-" She stood as he sat next to her, hands darting to her arms.
"You plan my happiness on a possibility. One that might not happen." Her nails dig into her upper arms and shoulders. "You have ensured my death or madness-" "Watch your mouth." He stood, worried and offended at her claim. "I would never intend for you to-"
"And yet, you've ensured my death." She paces, breathing irregular. "Death, it must be. I'm already mad enough without his help-" "You aren't mad-" "I can't even breathe at the sight of his stupid face and sneer. Let alone claw his throat out at the sound of his voice!"
Her face burns hot, nails now digging into her elbow and forearm. "And his laugh, it's as if it claws at one's existence." Maekar grabs tightly at her wrists, frowning. "Stop that, stop. You'll hurt yourself-" "You're the one who's hurt me." She rasps, bottom lip trembling.
He couldn't say anything, grip on her wrists tightening. "Daughter-" "You're hurting me." She sobs weakly, falling into his chest despite the betrayal in her voice. "I don't want to," He cups the back of her head, holding her close and tight. "I know... and I'm sorry."
That was the last moment of peace they would have. At dinner, she looks at nothing and no one but her cup of water. She wasn't fond of wine or ale like her eldest brother. No one comments on it. King Daeron clears his throat, straightening his back. "Maekar." He looks up, humming.
"How has the proposition been taken?" Her jaw clenches in irritation. "I am present, you can ask me." King Daeron gives her a soft smile. "Yes, I could. But, I have a feeling you aren't in a speaking mood, granddaughter." She just huffs, nails digging into her cup.
Maekar slouches into his seat. "How do you think it went?" "What other offer is there?" King Daeron challenges. "You have rejected every offer of her hand in marriage since her birth-" "Because I wanted to avoid this!" He huffs, glaring at his father in irritation.
"You cannot avoid marriage, I have told you this." Baelor sighs softly. "You haven't answered me, Maekar. What other choice is there?" King Daeron asks. "Burning Aerion on a stake." She grumbles, the said boy smirking in her direction. "I am hurt, dear twin-"
"Look at me or address me again, and I'll gouge out your eyes." She hisses, eyes on the table as she grabbed her knife, digging it into the table. Aerion simply grinned childishly. Baelor frowns, calling her name. She didn't want to hear about the septas, or morals, or teachings of manners.
She didn't want any of this. She wanted to hide in the libraries forever, reading and dreaming of times and worlds that weren't her own. She wanted to live as herself, not as an Targaryen princess. She did not want her life to end on a bed for some stupid game among men.
She thought her father understood that... perhaps not. "I could marry her!" Daeron chokes on his wine with a snicker. She blinks down at her younger cousin Matarys. Baelor sighs. "It is not that simple, son." Matarys raises a brow. "Why not? I like my cousin."
He started. "She listens to me speak of my bugs, I watch her read and paint. We are content in each other's presence." "You are only ten and two, Matarys." Maekar sighs deeply, wanting to be anywhere but there. "Ten and three in a moon." Matarys frowns.
"Girls my age get married off all the time." The argument started at that, the men arguing that girls get married off earlier for purity reasons. Matarys takes offense, not understanding. "We are pure! My dear cousin has never committed violence... physically. She is beautiful and-!"
The argument continued, the older kids shrinking in their seats. She eyes Valarr, hoping he would step in and stop his brother from talking. He only grimaces in response. Dinner ended abruptly, to no one's surprise, leaving her lost to wander the halls.
She sighs softly, rubbing the self-inflicted wounds on her arms. "Those look awful-" "Matarys!" She hisses as she jumps, a hand over her heart. The boy looks sheepish, frowning softly. "Sorry, cousin." "What are you doing?!" She scolds, hands on her hips.
"You know better to follow a lady in the dark! It's creepy!" "I know." He mumbles, looking down at his feet in shame. She takes a breath. "... what is it, little one?" He straightens. "I'm... sorry, if my proposal made you uncomfortable."
He tries not to look at her. "Father says that it is improper. So... sorry." Slowly, he peeks up at her with a small smile, still full of childlike mischief and excitement. It made her own lips twitch upwards. "But I meant it. You're the best one here! I hear how ladies talk badly about men,"
He steps forward, his chest practically puffed out. "And I’d never treat you that way, cousin! You're too kind and smart to be nothing but a man-doll whor-" "Let's!" She covers his mouth with a laugh, snorting at his confusion. "Not... use that word. Ever." Her hand parts as he nods.
"Okay... but I meant it. Mean it. I think we coupd have all the fun we want. Plus, you'd be safe!" He nods again, proud at his idea despite everyone scolding him for it, before stepping back. "Goodnight, cousin." "Goodnight, little one." She chuckles, watching him run off.
She goes to bed, strongly amused at the boy's proposal that was bigger than him. But then... she goes to think. They'd be happy. And while she did not see the strange nature of mating with family as her bloodline has, he was a good boy. He was respectful, thanks to her uncle.
She would be safe... cared for, amused and happy, free to still be herself despite being a "wife". The more she thought about it, the more she seemed to like the idea. Yes, the boy was young. But, she knew that he was always eager to learn, to explore, to know right from wrong.
As the thoughts swirled through her mind, she couldn't help it. She left her room in nothing but her robes. This startles the guards in the halls. "My lady-?" "Where is my father?" She asks softly, hands fidgeting. Urgent in tone, the guard guides the girl to Maekar's study.
She bursts in, slamming the doors behind her. Maekar, who sat with his father, stood at her face expression. "What has happened-?" "Father, I do believe myself mad. But, it is my only safe option. Anything else will cause death from my hand or into me. I can't allow anyone to-"
"Little one, slow down." Maekar frowns, cupping her arms carefully. His eyes burn into hers, trying to figure out what she was spiraling about so intensely. "I cannot allow anyone to kill what little kind I already have left. It sounds silly in prospect, yes. But it is the only bright thing left-"
"Speak plainly, breathe." Maekar didn't understand, his hands traveling to her shoulders in efforts to ground her. She looks him in the eye, her hands shaking as she grasps at his tunic. Swallowing thickly, she spits it out. "I want to marry Matarys." Both men stare, shocked.
"... you what?"
