Shortly after he left Rosebay (and therefor long before canon takes place) Kieran was living among humans, he tried his best to hide his monstrous nature from them but in the end he failed and a vampire hunter was sent after him. Because he was only a young vampire they sent a hunter that was only newly finished with his training, Quinn. Quinn had yet to actually SEE a vampire, let alone speak to one, and once he found out they weren’t all mindless beasts…he had issue with the idea of killing those who could be helped. In the end he spared Kieran’s life and helped him hide away in the woods so he wouldn’t get in trouble for leaving the vampire alive. They grew close over time, closer than what was considered appropriate between two men, let alone a vampire and a hunter. The townsfolk discovered that Quinn wasn’t killing every vampire, only those beyond saving, and he was to have a trial. Kieran was able to see him before then and begged him to leave with him, to become a vampire and spend eternity together. Quinn refused, he was certain that they would see things his way once he explained, and not wanting to be a vampire himself despite his sympathy for them. He was wrong about the townsfolk. Quinn was executed and Kieran had to leave. In the end Kieran learned that trusting others and being caring will only get you killed, heroes never get happy endings.
