“The time has finally come for the big announcement! We're doing a charity concert! For those who don't yet know, the amazing plushmaker @m
magick mulled apple cider
autumn is upon us; this is a recipe for a mulled cider that will bring you magick coziness, prosperity and warmth this season. you will need:
☾ 2 quarts of apple cider (honoring the departed)
☾ ½ cup brown sugar
☾ 1 tsp whole cloves (exorcism, love, protection)
☾ pinch of nutmeg (protection, prosperity)
☾ 3 cinnamon sticks (power, prosperity, passion)
☾ 6-7 whole cardamom pods (love)
☾ 1 orange slice (abundance, happiness)
combine everything in a pot and bring to boiling; cover with lid and simmer on low-medium heat for 20 minutes. stir clockwise now and then. strain out the herbs and enjoy warm on a rainy evening. if you’d like, light brown, black and/or red candles to make your cider drinking into a little ritual.
I researched about familiars today, after re-reading the post I reblogged about them. I looked for a tarot spread to help me find my familiar, but I didn’t find any (if you know one, feel free to share it in the comments) so I made my own !
And I made a sigil too. Because I love sigils. (Same, if you know other sigils with a similar effect, don’t be shy !)
Precision about the tarot spread : The first question might also be “Am I ready / what do I need to be ready [to find a familiar] ?”
Tarot Spread By Request: My Life Is A Hot Garbage Fire
1, 2, 3: What’s on fire?
I know you think you don’t need these three cards. But trust me, you need these three cards. They orient the whole spread to make sure you’re on the same page as to what’s really gone up in flames in your life.
4: Is it really that bad?
What’s the reality? What’s the lesson here? All the time, “bad” things happen (or spontaneously combust) and it’s actually for our own good. Here’s a peek at your silver-lining, though you may not be ready to embrace it yet. Also, if you’re making a mountain out of a molehill - this is where you’ll get a reality check.
5: Who/what piled up the garbage?
Maybe it was you? Maybe it wasn’t. Maybe it was someone else, or a life circumstance, or a particular desire. Find out.
6: Who/what set it ablaze?
Piled up garbage is one thing. A burning pile of garbage is another. Garbage can be salvaged. It’s best to let flaming garbage burn itself out. So who/what decided that there was nothing redeemable here? What circumstances looked at this pile of garbage and gave a resounding: “Fuck it!”
7: How can I forgive them?
You can also frame this card as: How can I move on? Whether you set the blaze yourself, or it was someone else, or a circumstance or life event that did it for you, forgiveness will give you the strength to leave the ashes where they lie.
Note: Look, if you try this spread thinking that nothing is really that messed up in your life (like I just did), you’re going to probably get called out on something. Take it with a grain of salt. The severity of a garbage fire is truly relative to how you feel about it.
And, above all, remember that you can’t get a phoenix unless you start with a pile of ashes.
My sanctuary and altar
Dream log
Last night I dreamt I was living in an old stone mill, I had a crow familiar. Pink hair, and a toony witch getup. All I really remember of the dream was playing with my avian companion. I also had a pet coyote. I was woken out of it and I am sad I wont be able to return to that dream.
Time For A Witchy Checkup
Hey you! Stop scrolling for a moment, it’s time for your checkup. Take a moment to check each of these things and fix any problems you might find.
Wards and Shields
Are your special spaces still warded properly? Are the barriers still strong? Are there any holes or damages?
Are your personal shields still there? Do they need refreshing? Are there any gaps in coverage? Can you still do your work through the barrier?
Altars and Tools
Are the altars clean and organized? There’s no dust?
Are there any offerings that have been sitting out that need to be refreshed or disposed of?
Is there any unusual energy in any of your consecrated items?
Does everything feel charged and ready?
Your Body
Have you taken all of your meds that you need today?
Have you been eating/hydrating properly?
Getting enough sleep?
Does your body need anything from you right now to feel a bit better?
Entities and Other Things
Are there any regular offerings you give that you could/should check off?
How are things with your familiar? Your companions? The local land wights? The spirit(s) of your house? Do they need anything from you to keep the relationship strong, if you have one?
Are there any unexpected entities hanging around/taking up anchors? (Give your knickknacks a good check for this, as well as any old toys and jewelry.)
Do you have any promises, dedications, or oaths you’ve taken up? Have you been maintaining your end of the deal/is there anything you can do to be progressive about it?
Banishing Negativity by Fire
I’ve recently had some negativity hanging about to the point it was affecting my financial means. I quickly came up with this very simple spell that can be done at any time you need to banish negative energy or presences from your very being and bring back that positivity we all love and cherish.
You will need:
Paper (any virgin paper will do)
Black pen or pencil or anything you can write with (just paint it black 😉)
Flame proof container
Matches/ lighter
A place you can speak loudly or yell without bothering anyone and burn something without worrying it’ll get knocked over
*Please practice safe fire habits when doing this as your intention could raise the flames*
Write “Banish all negativity from my presence and my being” on the paper and roll it up or fold it so it fits in the vessel you plan to burn it in. You can adjust the words as necessary to tailor it to your situation.
Light the paper. As it burns, use all your intention and demand that the negativity be gone from your very soul. That it is no longer welcomed. Feel that desire well up inside you and use it to power your words and intent. Keep saying this till the paper is completely burnt. Not a spot of paper should be left unburned.
Once it’s done, let cool before handling the ashes and take it outside where the wind can carry it away from you. If you can’t go outside, the toilet will flush it away from your house. As long as it’s being sent away from you, use that method that works best for you.
You should feel lighter, like a weight lifted. Repeat as necessary.
Urgent Move is Urgent!
Hey guys! Long time no chat. There have sadly been reasons for this.
In October 2018, Daggers broke up with me leaving me for the woman who got us together in the first place and moving out with her shortly after in November 2018. You can imagine how this would rough me up emotionally, which I would otherwise keep to myself and my circle of support, but unfortunately, it doesn’t end here.
He left me with 10+ cats to take care of and rehome, as well as all of his things and this entire place to keep intact. Since his father rents the place where I live, I have not had to worry about rent and bills to pay other than getting my own food and food and supplies for the cats.
However, I was informed that I need to move out by the end of July, and I can’t do this by myself anymore. Daggers also refused to pay the cable bill here from January to May (hence the extensive radio silence) and I lost six months of ability to post my work online to try to earn enough myself to afford to get a car, rehome the cats, etc.
I can’t do this on my own, obviously, and I need your help. I don’t want to take handouts so for the next two months I am holding a special deal to raise funds and get myself into a stable working and living situation. The new sales prices are as follows:
3 Card Dragon Fae Oracle Readings - $5
5 Card Dragon Fae Oracle Readings - $10 (+$2 fo reach additional card after)
Divine Channeling Sigils - $5 (These can be from anything to spirit companions to simple energy sigils)
All proceeds will be going towards my transition into stability and supporting myself financially in the meantime. I don’t like to draw attention to myself and my personal situation due to the drama surrounding it, but I have no other choice at this point. That said, I’m reaching out to ask for help where I realize I sorely need it. Those of you that can’t support the move financially, I’m always grateful for you and I deeply appreciate your presence in my life more than most realize. However, those of you that can and are willing to support me, and choose to do so, thank you. It means a lot to me to be a part of such a kind and caring community, and once I am back on my feet I will keep you on your toes with all the fun plans I have in store!
If you would like to support me or just to donate, my paypal is https://www.paypal.me/auroradragon . Please leave your question or sigil request and an email I can contact you to send it too.
Please and thank you guys. It means alot to me that you all would support me and help me get on my feet after this. Here’s hoping to moving on up!
All You Need to Know About Being a College Witch
Whether you’re dorming, living in a sorority/fraternity house, still living with your family, or even living off campus with some non-witchy roommates, I have compiled a list of witchy advice, activities, and tips to help live your most magical life while still complying with any rules that may be in place.
I spent the past 9 months or so living in the dorms at my university. The housing contract was 20 pages long and filled with everything I wasn’t allowed to have, do, etc. To summarize that annoyingly long document, I was not allowed to have any electrical heat sources besides hair tools (hair dryer, straighter, etc), a clothing iron, and an 800 watt or less microwave. I was not allowed to burn incense or candles, use a wax warmer, a hot plate, an electric kettle. The icing on the cake was that we couldn’t even have an incense diffuser because of the air system being connected throughout the entire building and how it could travel into someone’s room and cause an allergic reaction or make them sick. So I had to get a little crafty (pun intended) with my magical practices.
Activities & Tools
Things to Avoid Doing/Having:
Anything With Fire (candles, incense, smoke cleansing, etc)
Anything That’s a Heat Source (hot plates, wax warmer, electric kettle, etc)
Having Alcohol Regardless If You Are of Age (All Campuses are Dry Campuses meaning No Alcohol is Allowed)
Having Your Familiar (Unless It’s Been Approved by Disability Services to be your Emotional Support Animal)
Doing Spells Outside on Campus (Security Will Be Walking Around And May Think You’re Making a Bomb or Doing Something Illegal)
Leave Your Fancy Athames at Home (Weapons are not allowed on college campuses so to avoid that rule get a kitchen knife or a small hidden knife)
Keeping Anything Obviously Witchy/Occult Related Out Unless You Have Your Own Room or Your Roommate is Okay With it (Pentagrams, Animal Skulls, Ouija Boards, etc)
Tools & Supplies You Generally Can Have:
Crystals
Divination Tools (Tarot Cards, Scrying Mirrors, Pendulums, etc)
Herbs

Witch Tips/Advice:
You don’t have to do magick every day in order to still be considered a witch. College can be draining and time-consuming. Put your schoolwork before your magick.
Make sure if you using the dorm microwave, to use microwave-safe plates, cups, etc. You do not want to set off the fire alarm at 2 am because you put your metallic non-microwave-safe coffee mug and it started to smoke.
If using common spaces like the bathrooms or kitchen for your witchcraft, make sure to clean up after yourself as soon as you are done. It can cause the Head of Housing the fine your dorm hall/building if it continually happens.
There was a college witchcraft post saying to give your roommate a gift that you enchanted when you first move in. You should never do magic without their consent and especially if you have just met them and have yet to find out their feelings towards it. Starting out already at odds will turn into fighting roommates in no time. Fighting roommates are not fun or easy for your RA.
If your roommate is not okay with you having your tools out, there are tons of ways to discreetly hid them. There are boxes that look like books that you can buy at Micheal’s. You can also DIY your own book box! You can also use a trunk, cloth bag, decorative box, or even a shoe box to hold your tools.
If you’re interested in green witchcraft, it’s best to wait until you move into your dorm room before getting a plant. You’ll never know that your room doesn’t get enough sunlight or that AC is always on in your hall until you move in. If you don’t wait, you’ll end up with a lot of dead plants like me.
If you’re a religious witch and your roommate doesn’t want there to be an altar, you can make a shoebox altar. Open it when you need and close and store it away when you don’t. You can also make one the size of an Altoids tin or even a digital one such as a sideblog or a screensaver for your electronic device.
You don’t have to do elaborate spells all the time. You can just do simple things like picking what to wear based off of a color’s correspondence or enchanting your pen/pencil for good luck on a test.
@nightshadeandroses suggested to me that you reach out to your school’s religious department. A lot of smaller schools like mine don’t have one. For some universities, it’s a part of Student Services/Resources on campus. Whichever applies to you, the people there are willing and ready to help you. Some campuses have a space available for students to meditate/pray while others will help you find a place to do that whether it be on or off campus. Every college is different and the only way to get what you need is to ask.
If you have any questions, please feel free to send me an ask or message me. I’ll be glad to help!
Best of luck witches! 🔮✨
I really needed this! I’ll be starting college in about a year so
When I lived in a dorm room I got bed risers and made my bed so high that I had a private space underneath my bed where I put my altar. I did not/could not light candles, but I used electric ones
This dog was depressed for 2 years after his best friend died, but then this duck showed up
“Hey friend sorry I’m late, I reincarnated in a part of the world I’m not familiar with so it took me a while to find you again”
I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who thought that.
How I Dry Herbs and Flowers
I was asked recently how to I like to dry my flowers, and my explanation just got longer and longer, so I decided to make it a post. These are my personal methods, but they’re certainly not unique to me!
Hanging
Hanging is one of my favorite methods, especially for full-bodied flowers that won’t press well, like roses or baby’s breath. Hanging works with nearly everything I’ve done it with! Example: roses, lavender, basil.
It’s super easy! Take your flowers or stems of leafy herbs and cut them so they’re about the same length. I usually do about a foot, but if you have at least 8-ish inches, it should be good! When cutting from a larger plant, cut diagonally to protect the original plant. If drying flowers, strip off any excess leaves.
Then get some twine or rubber bands and bundle them together, like max 7 per bundle, less if you want to play it safe, but it really depends on what you’re drying. Wrap the twine / rubber band once or twice around the end of the bundle that doesn’t have the flowers on it, then once or twice around each individual stem.
Hang upside-down in a cool, dry place with decent air circulation. If you care about keeping the colors, hang them in a place away from sunlight, which will bleach out the colors. Check back once every week or so until dry, usually 2-3 weeks.
Pressing
Pressing is better for flat flowers or individual petals. This is a little too tedious for herbs. If using full flowers, cut as much of the stem off as possible unless it’s really thin. If drying individual petals, just pluck them off the flower.
You’ll need a large book or two flat surfaces and something very heavy. Place a few layers of paper towel (preferably without pattern) on one flat surface (or one side of an open book), lay out your flowers / petals in a single later on the paper towel, making sure they don’t overlap, and cover with more paper towel. Then place the other flat surface on top (or close the book). Put some heavy stuff on top. This takes about 2-3 weeks as well. Be careful when opening to check on them as the petals might move around.
Oven
This is best for herbs that you need soon. You can also do with flower petals, though I don’t like doing it with full-body flowers because they can become flat on whatever side is pressed against the oven tray.
Preheat your oven to it’s lowest temperature, usually 250 degrees F. Get an oven tray and cover with a sheet of parchment paper. Strip your herbs (sage, rosemary, thyme, basil) from the stems and lay them out in one layer. Place in the oven for about 30-40 minutes then take them out and give them a stir / flip. Bake for another 30 minutes, or until dry. Leave the oven door cracked open while drying to release moisture.
What to do with your new dry stuff?
I like to use hung flowers for decorations… like wall hangings. You can also make potpourri, or burn them as an offering. There’s tons of other decorative uses! With flattened ones, I love gluing them into my notebook with a very, very thin layer of Mod Podge applied on the paper and on top of the petals / flowers. I’ve always wanted to put some in snail mail, but I never send mail. You could also frame them! Oven dried herbs are great for spells, cooking, etc.
Make sure to store your dry herbs in an airtight container.

Witch Tips 12 + announcement
Damn everytime I reach the next milestone I’m just as surprised as the first one. Check out the #10tips tag on my blog to see the previous posts! And follow me to see the next ones!
I originally did this for every 10 followers I got, but when that proved to be way too overwhelming, I switched it to every 50 followers. Friends… I’m getting overwhelmed again. I’m in the process of trying to get a second job and so I’m going to be even more busy here pretty soon. I also started doing a Weekly Witch Challenge, posted every Sunday. Would anyone be upset with me if I change the Witch Tips again…? I’m thinking 10 tips every 100 followers would be perfect. And if I only get like 100 followers a week, I can change it back to every 50. I just want to be able to give you the best tips and information that I can, and doing it every 100 would mean more time for me to write them and still be able to give the best advice I can.
And you can always send me an ask if you have questions about a particular thing and I’ll be able to answer it to the best of my abilities. Alright, thanks for reading this and onto the next 10 witch tips.
1. The most underrated yet most iconic tool -The Broom
I rarely, if not never, see people talk about the broom. There’s so much about crystals, essential oils, etc but not enough information about broom. Hell, I’ve only mentioned it a couple of times. The broom is an essential tool in witchcraft. It’s main purpose is to push out negative energy. You can use a regular cleaning broom for this, but a special ritual broom is even better. This is called a Besom Broom. Use it to cleanse and protect the area before casting a circle.
2. Draw some sigils on the bottom of your mugs
This is best for witches that are open and don’t have to worry about getting caught, but you can write it with clear nail polish if you’re in the broom closet.
On the bottom of your favorite mug (or any glass really) use a marker or paints to draw some sigils that will help bring energy for the day. (To clarify, by bottom, I mean the part that touches the table, not the part where the liquid goes. I don’t want anyone getting hurt by toxic markers) then use clear nail polish to charge it, while protecting it from water at the same time.
3. Draw some sigils on the backs of things that hang in your home
This is great because no one will ever inspect the back of a picture frame hanging on your wall. You can charge the sigils to protect the home, the people in the photos, to bring love into the home, or anything else you can think of.
4. Some more places to hide sigils
In your shoes
In your wallet
In your bra
Under rocks in your garden
In the glove box in your car
The underside of your cats litter box
5. Put herbs in a tea infuser in the bath
Herbs are a bitch to clean up after you’ve been using them for bath magick. If you get a big tea infuser ball and put the herbs for your spell in there, it’ll make it a lot easier to deal with when you finish.
6. A spell to help heal a heartbroken friend
One of my best friends went through a terrible break up earlier this year. And I felt helpless because i was across the country from her when it happened. And although I was able to talk to her on the phone for hours everyday and send her some Dominos hot wings, I wanted to do more so I wrote this spell. It could be done if the person is with you as well, but it was originally designed to heal someone who was miles away. Here it is:
Gather:
Rose quartz
Blue lace agate
Rhodonite
(The more the merrier with all of the stones)
Something to represent the heartbroken individual (or grab the whole person if you can)
A bowl of salt water (I was by the ocean so I used ocean water, but adding salt to water works in a pinch)
After casting a circle, place the crystals in a circle, surrounding the object representing the person. Sit next to the arrangement and place the bowl of water on your lap. Take a few moments to breathe. Take deep, calming breaths. Feel the calm energy inside of you. Hold your hands over the object. As you perform the spell, imagine the calming energies flowing from your hands and into the person you want to heal.
With each line, dip your fingers into the salt water and sprinkle it over the object.
“Broken heart, fill with love
Feel the joy and peace above
Relax your body, find your smile
Broken heart, mend all the while.
Rest your eyes or let them cry
I’ll be here till your spirit’s high.”
Repeat the passage 3 times then close the circle.
7. When to ground yourself and how
Grounding is the process of staying connected to your body and the earth. It can help a lot when you’re having troubles such a dissociation, insomnia, trouble focusing, etc. Some of my favorite ways to ground myself include walking barefoot in grass, having a heavy meal, giving someone a really long hug (explain why you need one first so you know they’re okay with it. I usually do this for at least a couple of minutes) Try multiple different things and see which ones work best for you. There are also other methods out there, such a rubbing dirt on your skin, taking a mug bath, laying in the grass naked. I just personally find the other ones both convenient and effective for me.
8. When NOT to ground yourself
I have to put these two tips next to each other to balance each other out. There are time when you actually don’t want to be grounded. When working with spirits, it can be harder to connect with them when you’re grounded. Astral projection also comes more difficultly, as well as lucid dreaming are more examples.
Be sure to ground yourself afterwards though, it can be exhausting otherwise. It may be more difficult to ground yourself after some of these, namely astral projection, but it’s very important to do so regardless.
9. Take care of your bodily needs before attempting astral projection
This really goes to anything, witchcraft or non-witchcraft related that requires a clear mind. If you’re going to meditate or astral project, you’ll need to be free of any distractions. So drink some water, eat some food (but don’t get too full before astral projection, see tip 8. Eat a good meal afterwards) go to the bathroom, and do some stretches. It makes it so much easier to focus on what you need to when your body isn’t piping in to let you know it wants something.
10. Use biodegradable coffee filters when burying things
The most important part of witchcraft is caring for the planet. That’s why, if a spell requires you to bury something, you must make sure that nothing buried will harm the planet. Biodegradable coffee filters are perfect to use as a little sachet to hold all the herbs and stones and whatever else that you need to bury. You can even roll a second filter into a line to use as a drawstring for the first.
Thanks so much for reading! Feel free to send me an ask if you have questions or just want to say hi or something. Have a magical day.
Unpacking Witchcraft - Spell Types
A spell is a manifestation of intents, ingredients, and influences combined to bring about an intangible effect. However, there are a number of different of types of spells, intents, and methods.
CURSE— A spell designed to cause a person or place harm or misfortune of a grand scale. Occasionally used to protect when it used against a concept, “cursing out” infections and medical problems.
HEX— Commonly thought as similar to a curse, though it comes from a German word for witch. Commonly interpreted as a weaker curse, or a midpoint between a jinx and a curse on a scale of annoying to devastating.
JINX— A spell to cause momentary bad luck or annoyance, but can occasionally come back to bite someone later. Usually paired with irony, or used to bring about the opposite effect of what someone says out loud or hopes for.
BANISHING— A type of spell, designed to get rid of something specific, whether it be a concept, a person, spirit, or otherwise, and to keep it away.
WARDING— A type of protective spell in which you create and put up magical walls, usually against a specific thing, such as spirits or negative people, but could be used for evangelicals and teenagers that theoretically loiter on your lawn.
BINDING— Similar to banishing. Instead of removing a person, object, or situation from your vicinity, you prevent a person or creature from performing a particular action.
