CHARACTER BACKSTORIES:
DogDay, CatNap, and Riley:
DogDay, CatNap, and Riley were a family back when Riley was still a human child. A rift was created between DogDay and CatNap when Riley was taken away to be experimented on and CatNap was reunited with his old friend, the Prototype. When CatNap found Riley, he kept her with DogDay in his cell, allowing her free reign as long as they both knew where she was, but not letting DogDay out. When the Player freed DogDay, and DogDay was possessed by those Mini-Critters, he tried his best to steer his body away from Riley, and by the time he got in control of his own body, Riley was nowhere to be found. When CatNap found out DogDay escaped with a heretic, he was angry that he didn't take Riley with him, and holds resentment towards him because of that.
The Ludwigs (Oliver, Poppy, Elliot):
Elliot adopted Ollie when he was 11 after Ollie was taken from an abusive household. At first, Elliot loved Ollie and doted on him, helping him heal from the trauma he developed while living with his biological family. Then, three years later, Elliot met 8-year-old Poppy, and she became his whole world, putting Ollie in the backseat. Ollie never met Poppy, as he was kept somewhere else while Poppy lived in the house built into the factory. He did meet a boy named Theodore, who became his best friend. Theodore and Ollie stuck together, despite anything. It didn't last, though, when Ollie was taken to be a test subject for a sister he never got to meet. CatNap doesn't know that the Prototype is his best friend.
The Prototype:
When Poppy got into an accident at the factory, putting her on her deathbed, Elliot, desperate, turned to a means of bringing her back. He needed a test subject for this, and who else would be better than Ollie? Elliot used Ollie to make the first experiment after Ollie was diagnosed with a terminal illness. The Prototype, a jester toy that doubled as a Jack-In-The-Box. Prototype knew that everything done to him was for Elliot's Precious Poppy, and he hated that. He hated her, and he hated Elliot. Despite that, Prototype really wanted to meet his sister. He wanted to meet the girl who he sacrificed his life for. He never got to, though. Elliot was too afraid that Prototype's temper would snap. Eventually, it did, and the Prototype killed Elliot in a fit of rage. Despite everything, Ollie loved Poppy, despite her not knowing of him, and he would do anything for her. He talked to her over the phone, using his original voice to comfort her after the scientists poked and prodded at her. Poppy knows she has a brother, she doesn't know that the Prototype is that brother though, and he'll never tell her the truth.
The Smiling Critters:
The Critters were put into cryochambers after being taken from CatNap. The Player and DogDay helped them escape, but they got separated. The Critters stay with Doey and everyone else at Safe Haven, awaiting for the day they either escape, or die.
Huggy + Kissy:
Both Huggy and Kissy survived after being impaled by the Prototype, escaping and going into hiding. No one knows they're alive, and they work in shadows. Slowly, they build up their trust and friendship, healing from their injuries.

CatNap woke in a bright land, digital lines of code swiping past as the buzz of electronics hummed in his ear. He blinked the saturation out of his eyes, groaning. He caught orange in the corner of his eye, and he turned and froze.
Oh God, not him...
DogDay lay on the digital floor, still unconscious. But alive. CatNap, hesitantly, walked towards him. Despite their past, it was better to be with someone familiar.
Looking around, CatNap tried to spot someone, anyone. He faintly heard voices, but he couldn't spot where. Taking a deep breath, he spoke:
Is anyone there?

Of course I do you're in the digital valley, the home of the digital critters, more specifically in the forest section I was just here with my friend with my friend glitch cat when I found you guys
Digidog leads them through all types of zones, from dessert, rainforest, and big cyder city and now they were all a boat all digidog rows them across the sea with digi talking but glitch cat was just sitting there staring out into nothing but his ear pieces not say a word
There was a roar in the distance. CatNap's ears flatten.
This way!
They run through a hall and make it to a little opening in the wall and crawl through, ending up in a sort of... lab? There were some sort of growth vats lining the walls, filled with red gel. There were people inside some of the vats.
CatNap walks further inside, typing a few buttons. A wall opens up, revealing three tubes. All three names above were smudged, but one of them was slightly legible.
Well, they're still Ludwigs. See, the experiments are made out of the organs of their human self, but not their bodies. I've been keeping these bodies alive with artificial organs until they can be replaced by their original ones. That is, if Poppy and the Prototype even want to go back to their humans forms.
Meanwhile, Mr. Ludwig didn't have his organs removed and put into a toy, so it was much easier to turn him into a toy.

Suddenly, they found a dead toy. Its guts were strewn across the floor. CatNap gasped, bringing Riley down to his chest and holding her head so she wouldn't see. Bobby made a wounded noise and Picky just stared, horrified but not surprised.
