An audio log has been posted. Who posted it doesn't seem to have tagged it as anything, but it's been made public nonetheless. Do you press play?
["You wanted to speak, Proctor?" It was a lighter voice, sounding rather masculine. There was a calmness, an assured nature to the tone that conveyed a knowledge of handling things with a relative dignity, if strictness. Eager-eared listeners, particularly those either of Sinnoh or Interpol in general, would potentially recognize it however. Especially if they had dealt with any of Team Galactic's administrators during its tenure.
"I did. You should know why." Another voice, notably deeper. Gruffer, but still measured with experience. There was a beat of silence before the elder voice spoke up again. "Please explain the situation concisely, Crescent."
"... Right." A deep inhale was taken in before he spoke once again. "I will offer no excuses. We... failed rather catastrophically." A faint 'hrmm' was heard on the other end, but Crescent simply continued. "The video logs speak for themselves, Proctor. An Alolan Vulpix had found one of our Nodes, the drones sent out for reconnaissance, and tagged behind it in an effort to flee where they were before. This led him through the Distortion World and into our own. Giratina confirms this." Another gruff 'hrmm', and silence reigned for a few split seconds before the explanation trekked along. "We believed their words as he spoke them: he was sent by a 'Guild' to a 'Mount Sella' to apprehend thieves he could not handle on his own. His apprehension towards going back is apparent, but... I believe he reversed the facts to prey upon our empathy."
"It would seem so. He put up a convincing enough facade... and with such a cute face, no less." A faint, deep chuckle escaped the Proctor's throat as Crescent let out a hum of acknowledgement.
"Suffice it to say, when offered asylum, he took us up on the offer rather quickly. And the moment the door had opened..."
"I will speak plainly. This is not a good outcome. There is now a loose alien within our midst. Of course, this is no Ultra Beast or even a particularly powerful Pokemon. Just a crafty one... and we're both lucky and unlucky in this." A pause as the faint sound of a chair creaking was heard, one of the speakers leaning back. It was likely the one currently talking. "Lucky in the fact that Alolan Vulpix are not native to Sinnoh. Unlucky in the fact that you are upon Mount Coronet. It's quite the snowy area."
"Correct, Proctor... which gives him ample avenue to hide and adapt as needed."
"And I need not infer that this is... the second time a major 'mistake' has happened under your watch. Some may begin to believe 'Saturn'," the air quotes were almost audible in his voice, "hasn't changed nearly as much as he says he has."
"They can believe what they want." The response was quick. Curt. Firm. Crescent was not defensive. He was direct. "I will hide nothing."
"Hrmm! A valiant response. Very well! Crescent, I speak on behalf of myself, but also the University of Jubilife. Find our little outlier. Perhaps he spoke some modicum of the truth. I will smooth this over with who I can to give you time. Mishap or not, this is quite a good opportunity to learn more about how another world's Pokemon had developed!"
"Thank you, Proctor Rowan."
"Be aware, however." His voice quietly lowered. "This is, again, the second time. A third time may not yield as productive of a conversation."
"... Right." He inhaled softly, holding his breath for a sparse few seconds. "I'll do my utmost to work with the chance given."
"And you're sure you don't want my assistant to--"
"Recall what she endured."
"Recall that she forgave."
"... If. If you think it worth her time."
"Quite. I'll have her contact you. Expect a call from Sandgem. I'm counting on your success!" With that, the sound of the call closing was heard.
... Followed by a slow shift of someone in their chair. Silence was heard, and a deep, faintly muffled sigh pushed outwards. It had the sound of someone pushing air through hands covering their face. It seemed that, despite Crescent's superior being understanding... the stress of the situation was taking its toll. No wonder the help was accepted. The audio cuts off soon after.]
