Hi anon! Thank you so much for the ask!

Now, to be honest, 99.9% of fics I ever read are romantic oriented, it’s just something I enjoy and seek out on a regular basis. So I don’t have any normal stories about the twins where it might dip into their minds and give better outlooks on their character UNLESS it’s romantic based. If that’s not your thing, this list of content may not be what you’re looking for (if it’s not, I’m sorry in advance, if it is, however, I hope you enjoy the fics I have here!)

Of course he dreams in twin shades of Valeska.---A series of dreamlike, and not so dreamlike interludes. Set immediately after the season four finale.

Mouthwatering, by: Neyiea (Rated T)  Summary: Every five years there's an increase in lawbreaking and disappearances, and it isn't just apathy towards Gotham's amount of crime that keeps the citizens from taking note of the repeating cycle. There are other things at work. Darker things.Things that, one way or another, gain an interest in Bruce Wayne beyond wondering what his fear and flesh would taste like.

Through The Years, by: OhMyGlobWhatthefrickamievendoing (Rated M) Summary:  Bruce Wayne lives through ten years.

It’s Just You, Me, and My Kazoo, by: Jinxofthedesert (Rated M) Summary: It’s an accident. Bruce definitely did Not mean to resurrect Jerome. And, if it was him, then he has no clue why or how it happened, and neither does Jerome. But that’s not gonna stop the redhead from coming to the conclusion that, because it was Bruce who woke him, Gotham must want them together for some reason or another. And together they’ll be, if Jerome has anything to say about it.

Needless to say, Jeremiah isn’t too happy.

How to date Gotham’s most wanted criminal, by: RainyMonday (Rated G)  Summary: Being in a relationship with Gotham’s most wanted criminal definitively came with some peculiarities. Being kidnapped apparently was one of them. Based on this dialogue prompt I found somewhere ages ago:

“I honestly appreciate your creativity, but next time why don’t we just go to dinner or something like a normal couple?“

The Answer, by: morganpixie  (Rated T) Summary:  Bruce can't shake the unbearable feeling that something is missing. Wandering around at night leads him to the answer, but he's not going to like it.

The Art of Manipulation, by: gayzsasz (Rated T) Summary: Jim was suddenly thrust back in time to what felt like years ago, but was really only a handful of months. He vividly recalled the man whose only crime was shared blood with a psychopath who had looked at Bruce with stars in his eyes and hadn’t been able to do anything other than follow him to the gates of Hell.But more than that, Jim remembered the words that Bruce had uttered to garner that response. How’s It Gonna Be?, by: rowenaaine  (Rated T) Summary: It had only been, after all, the first of his many (future) escapes from Arkham. He just needed time. And maybe a blind eye - unacknowledged encouragement - from his dance partner. After all, does anyone truly enjoy dancing alone? Our story starts just after the events of Gotham 5x12, and goes back in time to fill in the blanks between Jeremiah Valeska's accident at Ace Chemicals and his first encounter with the Bat. As we'll see when these two finally confront their feelings, love never dies. It just morphs into something that both parties can live with.

Against the odds, by: britishbossy (Rated T) Summary:  Fix it for ACE Chemicals: Bruce has found a cure for Jeremiah's insanity and sprays him during their fight. Even though he is cured, Jeremiah goes to Arkham nonetheless and Bruce doesn't see him for 18 months.

Pas de Deux, by: Neyiea (Rated T) Summary: Afterwards, when the spreading news of the Joker’s imprisonment in Arkham is taken as a sign that The Batman might actually be more than just a new urban legend, it seems as though everyone starts talking about who, or what, could possibly be behind the cowl. They don’t know what Joker knows. They don’t know that Batman is his true self, and Bruce Wayne is the mask.

City, by: Steveuchrist (Rated M) Summary:  Following the months of Bruce's 18th birthday, he becomes dedicated to protecting Gotham and saving people. As soon as the Rogues start to make their grand returns to Gotham, he quickly realizes that he's falling out of love with Selina, and in love with someone else.

For Your Eyes Only (Spy AU), by: wayleska (princenarry) (Rated M) Summary:  Bruce and Jeremiah were best friends all through college along with Bruce's roommates Lucius Fox and James Gordon. Bruce always dreamed of making Wayne Enterprises into something big, and with Jeremiah by his side, it started to grow into something. But years ago when Ra's al Ghul became involved Bruce and Jeremiah's friendship started to fray. As a result, Bruce eventually kicked Jeremiah out of the company resulting in Jeremiah suing Bruce for his share. After that, their friendship was obviously broken, and Jeremiah was left feeling like a fool and cut off from his friends. That's when Alfred, an agent for the CIA, approached Jeremiah asking him to be a CIA agent. Jeremiah accepts the position and feels he's found a new version of himself as well as a new family and friends in his group of fellow agents: Selina, Ecco, and Jonathan. Not so much.  One of them being Jeremiah Valeska who, to his irritation, Oswald sees himself within whenever they run into each other. It’s enough for him to consider trying to rectify the situation between the Prince of Gotham and the last remaining Valeska.

Kings, by: Steveuchrist (Rated E) Summary:  The bridges are gone. The city is out of control. Jeremiah can’t wait for Bruce to get home.

How dare you, by: britishbossy (Not Rated)  Summary:  When Bruce faces Jeremiah in the alley that night, he uses a desperate measure to stop him from destroying everything.

The Emperor’s Son, by: yoko_goto (Rated E)  Summary:  Faced with losing his claim to the emperor’s throne, Bruce begrudgingly agrees to be tutored in philosophy to regain his father’s faith in him. Little does he know, his appointed instructor plans to school him in much more than the liberal arts.

Ok, I think that’s enough lol. This was honestly a bit mind-numbing to do but kinda fun! Sorry, there are more Wayleska then anything else if you’re more a Valeyne fan. But there are always more to dig up and most of these authors I put on here have written much more in Gotham with similar ships so they’re always worth looking further into!

Hii! i felt as though oliver doesn't feel as much love for elio as elio does for oliver when I was reading the book. The movie is not going to be released in my country unfortunately. :( Would you please be able to elaborate on how movie oliver is towards elio?

Oh anon. Oh anon. Flood gates: opened!It sucks your country aren’t showing it. What a shame! Wait for the DVD. It will be worth the wait, I promise.

I think the book is so overwhelmingly in Elio’s perspective that it’s so difficult sometimes to be swept up by that and to simultaneously try to work out Oliver’s feelings. I read this novel nearly 10 years ago and since then have read it quite a few times especially recently and now I’m older (28), I see WAY MORE of myself in Oliver. I feel like I understood Elio more when I first read it and now some Oliver moments have my heart in a vice.

Remember how he lifts Elio’s glass for him? Because he wanted to. Remember how he kept Elio’s postcard for all those years and not just in a box - on the wall. Remember how he is the one who listens to Elio and pays him attention because he genuinely wants to listen to Elio’s brain?! Remember how he looks after him after his nosebleed? All of those moments in the book. I’d recommend going back and reading it and trying to, as Armie must have had to, wade through Elio’s intensity and “dramatic little shit” (as I affectionately refer to him) moments. As Armie perfectly says- if Oliver was kind then Elio swooned, if Oliver was simply normal and got on with his day, Elio wanted to physically kill him!!!!!! Hormones, eh? But those moments when Elio realises that the “icy stares” and the “later"s weren’t because Oliver DIDN’T care…. it was because he cared too much. Perhaps reading it again you’ll get a different view? I think Oliver was very much in love to the point that it stayed with him all of his life. The quote about Elio realising that Oliver is shy and they both are the shyest people on the planet - telling you, Luca/James Ivory managed to even get a reference to THAT in the movie. So so special ❤️

God, I'm so fuckin bothered about what season 2 did to Vander and Silco's past too, like. Nothing makes any sense.

In season 1, you get "sssssome years ago I guess, before Vander had his old man beard, he sliced Silco's eye and then tried to drown him and we're left to wonder the details". That's fine, I never even questioned that.

Then season 2 is like, "Vander went into a rage when he saw Silco standing over Felicia's dead body on the bridge, further evidenced by the letter Jinx and Vi find"??

And I'm like, NO HE DIDN'T??

Vander was already much older than he was in the drowning flashback. Silco would have been recognizable to Vi in SOME way if he had been there, and I'm extending that. Silco would have been in Vi's life before that too.

Vander picked up the kids and walked home calmly after Felicia died, and like sure maybe he lunged at Silco and he ran away, so Vander took out his rage on another enforcer instead and went to find Silco later, but that means he didn't just "lose his head", he had plenty of time to process what happened and NOT decide that he was killing his best friend "for the greater good".

Why would he have blamed Silco at any point, let alone in that way? I dunno, there's having anger problems and then there's being fuckin dumb. Imagine being like, "oh no, I lost a close friend, guess I'll burn the other one too!" BUHH???

Hey guys remember that terrible letter in s2? Well, how about I tell you that it's actually worse than it seems?

Alright. For the purpose of my point being more clear I'll recite it here. *barely held in gag*

"Silco. I've looked everywhere, but it's clear that you don't want to be found. Oh, God, I'm shit at this (THEN WHY ARE YOU EVEN WRITING IT YOU STUPID IDIOT. Sorry). I'm sorry. When she died, I lost my head. I told myself that what I did to you was for the greater good, that you deserved it. But the dirt was on both our hands. Anyway, you know where to find me. Blisters and Bedrock"

So, it is obvious that Vander regrets what he did to Silco and that he doesn't view him as a "villian of the story" anymore, so to speak. His murder attempt was purely emotional rather than motivated by ideological opposition or something else. Great.

Buuuut let's rewind to the very start of the series. Right to episode one. There. Take a look at these screenshots.

So Vander says to Benzo that there's someone on their side (the Undercity) who is worse than enforcers. Not even someONE, but someTHING. This implies quite a big level of resentment if you ask me. While he's saying that, he looks at his right hand and touches his uhh...I don't. Know how this thing's called I'm sorry. Let's call it a leather cover. There's clearly a reason why he wears it now, and this seems to be connected to the "thing" they're talking about. Alright. I guess we'll find out more about this later.

Fast forward to episode three. Heeeeey, what is THAT??

So Silco cut his hand?? Well, that all makes sense now then. Something brought Silco and Vander to a conflict, which resulted in Vander trying to kill Silco, and Silco cutting Vander's hand when he was escaping from him. For now (💀) we don't know what exactly caused such a rift between them, but it apparently was something pretty serious considering that Vander even stopped referring to Silco as a person. While he does later says to Silco that what he did to him was wrong, but nothing indicates that Vander changed his opinion on WHY he did it.

Now, there could be an argument that Silco did something that made Vander hate Silco AFTER the river scene, and this is why Vander thinks so badly of him. But earlier in the same episode we see THIS reaction from Vander when Silco appears.

So here's the question: why would Vander react like that to seeing Silco if he knew of something horrible he did post their fallout? What's more likely, he hasn't heard anything about Silco AT ALL, whether he's dead or alive or what he does. So Vander's opinion of Silco ("something worse than enforcers") formed prior to their falling out and it didn't change over time.

Now that we have all that information let's go back to our dear, favorite letter.

Uhhhh so. Vander is an incredibly awful person???? Either that, or he has an extremely severe case of amnesia. Because why would he go from wanting to reconcile with Silco and not blaming him for what happened straight into thinking that he's worse than enforcers and not even a person?? Or in his mind these things can coexist somehow?? And to add to all of that, apparently he never told Benzo the truth about their falling out, and made him think that Silco is an "animal". What, was Vander so butthurt by Silco never contacting him that he went full 5-year-old-mode "Humph!! I hate you now!!" and proceeded to lie to everyone about Silco?? So much for a reasonable and peaceful leader of the Lanes, huh.

But we all know that's not the case at all. The case is, of course, that writers forgot to rewatch season 1 and made up a reason for Vander and Silco to fight which is not at all aligns with what we knew about them and their relationship before. This is, ladies and gentlemen of the jury, one of the biggest cases of negligence in storytelling that I've ever seen.

arcane went “we wrote a messy complex codependent relationship between a father and a daughter” and then in season 2 went “oooh we made them too messy and complex let’s pretend like she had that relationship with the character we see more morally correct even though we barely saw their relationship in this way so it doesn’t look bad and everything can look perfect and she can call him dad a few times to really put a bow on top of all of it” and thought we wouldn’t notice

I fucking hate this, what do you MEAN it explains it, did Season 1 not already explain it?? Did Season 1 not make you understand it already?? Did Season 1 not focus on Vander's corpse and the emotions on Silco's face when Powder tells him Vi left her? Did you not get that Silco empathized with her because he knows how it feels to be abandoned by an older sibling? Did he not spend the entire season comparing Vi to Vander and his past to Jinx's? Were there not already multiple scenes depicting Silco and Jinx's bond and how he came to fiercely love her after years of taking care of her?? You stilI needed another hamfisted justification for his love for her?? He needed to be her godfather and friends with her dead mother for you to understand Season 1? I despise takes like this so muchhh

Silco SO should've haunted the narrative in s2 I can't stress this enough. Like, we knew Vander, Mylo and Claggor only for 3 episodes, but their presence was felt aaaall throughout s1. And now you're telling me that a PRIMARY ANTAGONIST of s1, a leader of Zaun, Jinx's dad and The person who started the negotiations with Piltover for Zaun's independence only got a couple of mentions?? Which aren't even relevant to the plot or character motivations??? Are you LEGIT FOR REAL kidding me???? I still can't believe this happened chat.

He's literally a part of the main cast. He literally was present in every single episode of s1. And again, given just How Much was tied directly to him his death should've had just. Massive consequences. For almost every single character. And yet.

My honest reaction to this information:

I'm thinking of Sevika's ending because, it wasn't her, this wasn't her. She didn't want this. Ever.

She wanted her city free, she wanted her people free and safe, she wanted a leader, she wanted to follow never lead, and they sit her in a chair she hates nd gave her power she never asked.

And she's alone, she's so alone guys, losing everything again and again. She lost hope in Vander, loses Silco, loses Isha and then Jinx. It's tragic in a way, she's seated in the place everyone fought for to achieve, but it wasn't what she wanted, what anyone wanted.

Literally, the pawn has ascended to queen, but was it really what she wanted? It doesn't matter, take the crown wear it, everyone is looking at you now.

Jayce's speech to Viktor was bad.

So, the final speech Jayce gave to Viktor about finding beauty in imperfection, and how our flaws make us human, that’s a fine sentiment but the specific examples he used ruined it. He used Viktors disease as an example.

Viktor was dying from a disease caused by Piltover mining in the fissures polluting the air. It was a preventable disease forced onto him by a corrupt system. He was slowly and painfully falling apart. “I can feel myself rotting” type stuff. Was he supposed to have appreciated that?

Jayce wants him to have appreciated the simple beauty of dying a slow painful death while your best friend is too busy being a councilman to be with you and your mentor is roadblocking your only possible cure. That was the imperfection that he was misguided to want to solve? The show is really saying Viktor was misguided, or not appreciative enough of being human, to not want to die young. He was giving up his humanity when he fought to live.

Viktor should not have just accepted it, that isn’t just part of being human. It isn’t a beautiful flaw you learn to love. He did nothing wrong by taking his life into his own hands and taking every possible chance to live. Even when no one believed in him.

I’m sure there are more charitable interpretations but that line really rubbed me the wrong way.

the entirety of act 2 season 2 is just fanservice for jinx fans but they somehow misunderstood why we liked her in the first place. like i liked jinx because she was a pathetic loser not because she was a hero and mature and great at one-liners man these writers just didn't Get It

Act 2 Jinx behaved like an MCU version of herself. Those jokes were completely out of place - there was a significant difference between her goofing about to ease tension in season 1 and the overall unseriousness of season 2.

Also I REALLY hate that the writers decided to use the most lazy trope possible, the trope I hate with my whole heart

When we have a big war between two sides that was becoming worse and worse for so many years

And instead of actually resolving it, the writers just add another, BIG ONE enemy to unite those two sides

And now they don't need to think about how to resolve SUCH COMPLICATED conflict that was lasting for decades. No, now they suddenly have a peace bc "the enemy of my enemy is my friend". THAT'S SO FUCKING LAZY

I wanted to see how Zaun and Piltover resolve their conflict so bad and all I've seen was a fight against Ambessa and Viktor?? Seriously?? That's a such disappointment

Also the same thing happened in spop and I really hoped Arcane isn't gonna do it...and they did...

Like imagine if in ATLA instead of Aang stopping the fire nation, all 4 nations just united against spirits

Jinx just never really liked Vander that much.

One of the things that, to me, seemed like a main theme in Jinx's arc in season 1 was the contrast between her two families, and how her switch from Vander's daughter to Silco's drastically changes the way her personality takes shape.

And I hate that the fandom, and now the show, too, has reduced Silco to an unhealthy influence in Jinx's life, pushing her towards her "bad" side (being Jinx) when, for all his flaws... he gives her a better childhood than she ever had with Vander. The first three episodes of the first season, to me, when I watched them, illustrate quite clearly that Powder feels unhappy in her family life. She is the most mal-adjusted of Vander's kids. Her older brother constantly berates her, and it's quite clearly having a big effect on her self-image. She later takes up the Jinx name and persona once she feels like she has become irredeemable as a person. Her other brother never defends her. Vi is the only one who is there for her, and they care for each other, but at the same time you can see there's still a little insecurity in their relationship. Vi is worried that maybe Powder is indeed too weak, and Powder worries that maybe Vi does indeed see her as a Jinx like her brother does.

And when it comes to Vander... he's just not really all that present in her life. And I don't blame him, the man has four kids to take care of, on top of keeping things running in the Undercity. It's clearly not his intention. But it doesn't change the fact that he's not there for Powder, not as much as she needs. To me, when I watched the first season, it seemed like Vander was a figure that felt far away to Powder, someone that she admired but also feared being completely herself around, and someone that she ultimately wished to be closer to than she actually was. It's worth mentioning that Jinx never says his name post time skip, and he is not a hallucination for her, not until Vi brings him up in the finale. Hell, Claggor is somehow a hallucination for her and he never even speaks. Vander was just not an influential figure in Jinx's life.

I always found the scene at the end of ep3 of s1 fascinating, because Powder never once mourns Vander. She never once cries for him and never once says his name. When she sees his dead body, she becomes shocked and starts crying, but it's not actually what breaks her. What breaks her is Vi's rejection. Had it just been that she accidentally caused the deaths of her brothers and adoptive father, she would not have crumbled mentally. It's Vi's rejection that destroys her. Now, of course, a little girl that cares more about her sister's affection towards her than the lives of her family members is kinda messed up, but that's what makes her character interesting. And we can see that that little girl doesn't go anywhere, as Jinx displays the exact same one-mindness about her sister. Because Jinx and Powder were never really that different, after all.

She is quite clearly placed with her back to Vander's body, that she never turns to, barely looks at, only enough to recognize him and see he's dead, and never says the name of. She's turned towards Vi, calling for Vi, crying because of Vi, and no one else. Heck, Vi had just been crying over his body a few moment ago. Vi is clearly distraught over his death. Vi is devastated, she literally punches her sister and curses her in the exact worst possible way she can, in the way she know it will hurt her sister the most. But Powder... she just honestly dgaf.

So to then hear Jinx say this line in season 2...

...is just straight up jarring. I was pulled out of the story when I heard this. This is Jinx saying this to Vi. This kinda makes it seem like it was Jinx who was most attached to Vander, or at least that she was just as attached to him as Vi was. Which is just not how things seemed in the story at literally any point until this one. And then season 2 continues this way, and somehow makes Jinx seem like the closest daughter to Vander. Flipping Warwick literally acts more attached to Jinx than Vander ever did to Powder. Like literally. Season 1 clearly sets up that Vi is the favorite daughter, and then they just... flip it?? Warwick cares more for Jinx and responds better to her than to Vi. It's actually insane. It's true they sanitized Jinx's character to hell and back this season, but this is a straight-up rewrite. I can't wrap my mind around why they did this. Plus, the entirety of act 2 they set up this weird and pointless arc of Jinx rekindling her relationship with Vander or something... and like literally her story was genuinely never about that.

(This COULD have been Vi's story. And that might have actually been cool, and made sense. Maybe Vi is the one who finds him, and she is the one who helps him calm down. And then she brings Jinx, and maybe Jinx is terrified because she was never that close to Vander, and then she literally killed him, so seeing him again is the last thing she wants. Maybe VI is the one who tells Jinx that "he was your dad, too", which would make A LOT more sense, and maybe that's the first time that Jinx thinks that oh, yeah, he was... And then maybe they have a cute moment where Vander forgives her. Or maybe she sees the state he's in right now and loses it completely. Or maybe they look at each other and they both see the monster each of them has become. And then maybe Vi looks down at the enforcer uniform she's wearing, and, privately, sees it too. Idk. The things we could have had.)

Silco was actually a good dad to Jinx, in all the ways that Vander wasn't. He gives her all the attention that she never had before. He not only listens to her, but actively asks for her side of the story. He never insults her, and he defends her against Sevika. He trusts her and gives her opportunities to prove she's capable. She goes from being one of four siblings, and getting lost in the shuffle and often ending up feeling forgotten and alone, to being the most important child, always taken into consideration and almost put on a pedestal by her dad (this, like, has to have cured some inner wounds, i think).

Silco understands Jinx better than any other character in the show, and I'm genuinely sad that we didn't get to see any flashback of Jinx growing up with him. Because their relationship was so unique, and so integral to Jinx's character and to the rest of the story, that the fact that we never get to see any other glimpse into their bond is just...

As a final note, I'd also like to add that I dislike when people say that Silco "groomed" Jinx. I think a much more realistic analysis is that he enabled her. And as for all the times he tells Jinx that Vi "betrayed her", that's just a reflection of his own trauma, and also because he fears that if Jinx knew Vi was alive, she would go back to her and leave him (which, considering what goes down in the s1 finale, not an unfounded fear). It's wrong that he does that, but it's not out of malicious intent (also tbh Jinx never really seems to believe him anyway).

And for all the people who say that Silco "turned Jinx into a terrorist" (dumbest people in this fandom fr, im sorry), that's just straight up not true. Powder was already like that. That is quite literally why Silco adopts her. Because he sees that she's like him. Silco would not have taken Powder in if he thought she was just a cute, innocent kid who was orphaned (to, what, raise her for years so that, MAYBE when she's older, she MIGHT be useful to him? when they meet he doesn't know she's the one that caused the explosion, he just knows that she's been abandoned by Vi). This is the kid who thought playing around with explosives was a fun hobby. This is the kid who giggled at the thought of hurting others. This is the kid who already suffered from explosive emotions. This is the kid who saw her father and her brothers dead, because of her, and all she cared about was whether her sister was mad at her because of it. This is the kid who throws herself at the first person she sees, someone who her sister hates, who is the cause of all this destruction, and with an anger that shocks most viewers, declares that Vi is not her sister anymore. She is livid in that one moment.

Powder already had it in her from the beginning. And it's also ok to like a character (and to write one) even if they are not 100% morally pure in every single way under the sun, cause that is quite literally what stories are for.
