On the evening of 19 February, 1994, Gloria Ramirez was rushed to the emergency room of Riverside Hospital, California. And here was the beginning of one of the world’s most baffling medical mysteries.
Gloria had been suffering from the effects of advanced cervical cancer. She was immensely confused as well as suffering from tachycardia and Cheyene-Strokes respiration. When she arrived at the hospital, she was injected with several drugs including diazepam and lorazepam to keep her sedated. Gloria immediately started responding to the drugs negatively leading doctors to defibrillate her heart. It was now that doctors began to notice some oddities.
There appeared to be an oily sheen which was covering Gloria’s body and a fruity, garlic, odour emanated from her. When a nurse attempted to draw blood from Gloria, she noticed an ammonia-like smell. When another nurse attempted to draw blood, she noticed particles floating in the blood. Suddenly, the nurse fainted, followed by another nurse and another nurse. In total, 23 people within the vicinity of Gloria became ill with 5 being hospitalised. Gloria was soon afterwards pronounced dead with the cause of death being listed as kidney failure.
The main theory was that Gloria had been using dimethyl sulfoxide as a way to alleviate her pain. Two months after her death, her decomposed body was released to her family who wanted an independent autopsy. Their pathologist could not determine a cause of death. Gloria became known as the “toxic lady.”
We stand beneath resounding rafters, The walls around us are bare, They echo back our laughter, It seems like the dead are still there.

James Harris Jackson, 28, traveled to New York City by bus from Baltimore, Maryland, where he “walked around selecting and stalking black men, with an intent to determine who he was going to attack” for three days. Around 11:15 p.m. on March 20, 2017, he settled on Timothy Caughman and stabbed him repeatedly with an 18-inch bladed sword, as the 66-year-old sifted through garbage to collect recyclables. Caughman staggered to the nearest police station and later died at the hospital of internal bleeding from wounds to his spleen, bowels, pancreas, diaphragm, and lung. Following his arrest about 24 hours later, Jackson stated the murder was only a “practice run” for a larger spree he was going to perpetrate against African-American men in Times Square and said New York was chosen to receive the most media attention.
In a jailhouse interview, Jackson said he first experienced racist thoughts at the age of three, and his ideology had developed since then by sharing his views with “like-minded people” online. Of his intended spree, he stated: “I had been thinking about it for a long time, for the past couple of years. I figured I would end up getting shot by police, kill myself, or end up in jail.” He hoped the murders would discourage white women from entering interracial relationships, and their thoughts would be: “Well, if that guy feels so strongly about it, maybe I shouldn’t do it.” Although he claimed he “got depressed” after the attack, Jackson only expressed regret for the victim’s age - “I didn’t know he was elderly” - and said he would have preferred to kill a “young thug” or “a successful older black man with blonds…people you see in Midtown.”
Jackson has been charged with one count each of murder in the first and second degree as an act of terrorism, second-degree murder as a hate crime, and three counts of criminal possession of a weapon.

Sorry to ask about Richard Ramirez lol, but I always hear how he was described as having a 'weird' sense of humor. Did you ever think that he did, and if so what does that mean really? I know in his later life he wasn't funny or himself, but did you think his humor was different or weird when you first began corresponding with him? Thx in advance <3
I didn’t think it was weird. He was kind of immature and would find things funny that a kid would, but he also had a dark sense of humor and was sort of morbid at times.
