Hi! I'm huge fan of dogscape and was wondering if there are any other 'dogs' in the dogscape besides the Mutt and the Growler of course. The Wonderer story seemed to hint at it but, there hasn't been any mentioned yet. Keep up the work guys!
The original logs say that "free-ranging dogs are becoming rarer and rarer to see now," which is to say that "normal" dogs areĀ disappearing, possibly hinting atĀ forced evolution into something else.
And after the mention of the mutts, that is the "massive forms that sail or crawl or undulate" the character asksĀ themselvesĀ if "normal, singular, ambulatory dogs have become as obsolete as I am."
So what does this mean? Normal dogs are seen less and less, considering this particular log takes place only 4 years after the original spawn of Dogscape, this could be a preface to creatures seen much later.
Of course, the only canon confirmed creatures in the Dogscape are stray dogs, abominations, humans, fleas/ticks, and the dogscape itself (dogtrees, teatpatches, etc.)
Considering the vastness of the Dogscape, that is, the whole world, it can be assumed that there are variations on the dog creature, hence the growlers and the different mutts.
I've heard that LitterBot is working on his own Dogscape POV series which has a sub variation of the growler known as prowlers, which are slimmer, faster, and travel in packs.
Feel free to come up with your own creatures too, the world is ripe for creativity!
