Loki's Joy
Sigyn, adored by Loki. 😍
For the Logyn art tourney.
Me, identifying as a guy today:
Hey, Loki, we’re the same gender today!
Loki, now in a girl form: hm?
I was thinking about controversial it is, even in pagan settings, to worship tricksters like Loki and Sutekh, and I think that I described it pretty well with
"Tricksters are inherently transgressive figures who literally embody what it's like to live in a socially unacceptable or taboo way, which is why members of marginalized communities flock to them while more privileged people find them distasteful. They are the personifications of chaos and social unrest, which includes how much strife surrounds people who are deemed socially unacceptable; they are literally the gods of minorities and people who suffer under bigoted unjust systems.
When tricksters do something bad in a myth, marginalized groups see a complex rebellious figure with their own motives while privileged people see a bad person doing bad things. And when tricksters are punished, privileged people just see a bad guy getting their comeuppence while marginalized groups see the harsh realities of living as a socially unacceptable person.
It's no wonder then that queer people, the mentally ill and other minorities have flocked to Loki's side, since he embodies the realities of their lives, even when others can't understand it."

We are the Children of Loki
We are the children of Loki:
The lost, the misfits, the broken and bruised.
Loved by the mother of mischief
And the father of change.
The children who have crawled in their skin,
Who have feared for their lives,
Only to meet you there in the darkness
And fall into your waiting arms.
Leading us home to a family
That will love you, raise you,
Guide and protect you
With such gentle, ferocious love.
Jormungandr will coil himself around you, so you can finally rest.
Guarding the boundary of your inner realms.
He will teach you to shed your skin, to heal, to grow,
To thrive in whatever corner of the world you’ve been thrown to.
Fenrir will howl in triumph for every chain you snap
And cry tears of empathy for any chains yet unbroken.
He will hold space for you as you are.
Still wounded, still chained, and still worthy of love.
He will teach you how to survive,
Not through the anger of a raging beast,
But through the wisdom of a survivor
Who learned to make peace with his chains.
He will stand by your shoulder as you stand up to abusers,
Growling “Me too.”
And he will curl around you as you process your pain,
Gently whispering “Me too.”
Hel will guide you through the gates of her realm,
As you break down the walls concealing your pain.
Trauma so great that you once thought
That merely feeling it would kill you.
And she, the walking boundary between life and death,
Will clean the rotting flesh off your bones
Like maggots cleaning out an infected wound
So the wounds can finally, finally start to heal.
She will guide you through Helheim and back again,
For now is not your time.
You can survive far more than you thought
And become far more than you dreamed.
And on the other side of that rebirth,
As the caterpillar becomes a butterfly,
You’ll find parents waiting with open arms,
Ferociously eager to love you.
Sigyn will hold you tight in her arms,
Gently stroking your hair while you cry.
She will catch your every tear as they fall.
She will teach you that it’s okay to be scared,
To be weak or be vulnerable.
It’s okay to need help.
She will teach you how to hold the bowl,
So you too can hold space for your pain.
And if your bowl should overflow,
Her loving embrace will keep you standing.
She will never, ever let you go
And her strength shall never waver.
Angrboda will wrap you in her arms,
As fierce and loving as any mother bear.
She will kindle a fire in your soul -
The anger that loves you and knows you deserve better.
She will sharpen your fangs and your claws
So that no predator will dare harm you.
She’ll teach you the power of calmness
The power to say “No, I am safe here.”
“I am not under threat.”
And my dear Loki - mother of shame-slayers and father of truth-speakers.
Loki will teach you freedom.
They will tear the stitches from your lips, so you can shout out your raw, authentic truth.
They will light a fire in your soul, so bright and so hot that it melts the shame of those around you.
They will poke and prod and ask you “Why?”
Why do you do this? Can’t you see how powerful you are?
Why are you afraid to shine?
To own your strength? To own your weakness? To own yourself?
Why are you scared to be loved?
Loki will guide you across the edge of your comfort zone.
They will teach you how to live.
And above all else, they will be proud of you
As only a parent could be.
We are the children of Loki.
And we will always be loved.
This is unbelievably beautiful and true to who these deities are in my experience. They truly are family and have been one for me. This truly filled my heart with so much pride and gratitude for my spirit family. Thank you so much for writing and sharing this. ❤️
This touched my heart. Ever since I lost someone every close to me I turned to what they turned to. Paganism, the Norse gods. And I have found peace within them. I only wish someone could teach me to connect with these deities. Because I can connect with many, but I am a very new witch. I have been a Norse Pagan dabbling in the religion on and off since I was 11 and im 16 now. I’m sure of my religion, after losing them at 13. It’s been a long trial, being transgender, finding myself. Breaking free from the chains of Roman Catholicism that I was raised under. I, for 3 years now, have been dedicated to the gods. Yet I know not of how to reach them. Its like a light I am never able to touch.
I wish someone could help me find them. I know of many gods. I am starting to get to know Freya and Loki, I do things in honor of Odin. I also work with Aphrodite, Apollo, Artemis, sometimes Zues, Hermes, and Hel. But the main I work with are, Isis, Selene, Aphrodite, Enki, Nyx and the triple moon goddesse. I also pray to and work with Lucifer, Lilith, Hades and Satan which sounds insane but I believe in all Gods because I am an Omnist and I am apart of mamy religions but my patron diety, which ive come realize is Loki. I follow the Norse traditions but I am eclectic. And I do identify with many religions, as my practice is very mixed. I come from generations of silversmiths and free masons.
I am 5th generation. I seek to learn about religions that connect with me and I connect together open religions and practices that speak to me. I call myself a Norse Pagan because I follow the holidays and I do their traditions and customs. But also, on my mother’s side I am Scottish, Irish, and British though mainly Celtic. I connected with the ancient religion of the Vikings. It felt like home… and it felt like I have so much love from some many guides, I feel like the people I lost would be proud of me.
I feel like they watch over me, like I am connecting with my family lineage. I feel so drawn to it, yet I am still such a baby to it. I am also a witch. I do Cosmic Witchcraft but again I’m eclectic so I tend to take from many practices. I do water magick, elemental magick, I work with dragons and the fea, I work with animals and bugs and plants, I work with land spirits and elementals, I work with dieties and ancestors, I work with many people and figures that I see as influential. I feel if as though I am not good enough yet to deserve their love.
I have some mental disorders that drove away all my friends. I’m wondering if the gods hate me, yet they still reach out and speak to me. I guess if I truly have no one, I have them. I just don’t want to give up on my faith. How would I connect with more Norse deities if anyone knows? This is kind of a ramble. The poem was beautiful it made me tear up a little bit but. Thank you. For everything Loki.

hail loki,
who changes shape so easily,
who helps carry the fire of strength and resistance in our hearts.
may they protect those that don’t confirm to the gender binary,
help them stay strong and safe.
be yourself to the best of your ability in honor of those who have been lost, continue to do what they can no longer do
I'm rolling with my ADHD hyperfocus here and sharing the expanded metaphor/visual Loki has given me regarding ashes/fire:
Controlled burns exist for a reason. Not *everything* has to go, just the stuff we know isn't helping. But, if you're not careful, the way you use the fire and/or the flammability of the space around it will create untamed wildfire. If the structures around the weak spots are solid, the fire will stay contained. The loss is easier to manage, and there's less to regrow (and it will have a much easier time regrowing). If those structures are dry and decayed, all of them go up in flames despite your best efforts to prevent it. The entire world doesn't have to be set ablaze if you tend to things in a healthy way. But regardless of what or how much is burned away, growth will always follow. So, if we want to mitigate a mass extinction level wildfire, we have to make sure that enough things are solid enough that they won't crumble - that the trees are hydrated enough to be less affected by the heat. There will always be times when something needs to burn, but we don't have to set the whole world on fire if we tend to it properly. Fire may be volatile, but if you're smart about how you create your world, it's volatility is a lot easier to manage and control.
(I'm realizing this metaphor really speaks to environmentalist issues now that I'm typing it all out. Given their Jotun and Aesir lineage, it makes sense that Loki would be interested in the growth/destruction cycles of nature and use this kind of metaphor.)
Athame/Knife
Used for
Athames are a specific style of ritual knife that are primarily used in Wicca, but have also spread to wider witchcraft. However, if a witch does not have access to a dedicated athame, a regular knife can also be used for a similar purpose. The use of a blade in the craft is primarily for directing energy and magical workings: by casting a circle, calling elements, binding or severing magical attachments, and more. It is traditionally associated with the element of fire, and the magical energies of creation, destruction, and transformation.
Materials
A dagger with a black handle and an iron blade (traditional)
A knife (general or modern)
Ink or a tool for carving (optional)
Process
The only universal process of using a blade in a ritual is consecrating it in whatever tradition you follow, to elevate it above the mundane for the duration of the ritual. Beyond that, you can also choose to ink/carve runes or symbols onto the handle of the blade if you want to use it for a specific purpose and enhance those qualities of it. Again, the runes and symbols can belong to whichever tradition you follow, as there are traditional ones to certain paths and self-created ones in others.
Why it Works/History
Blades have been used ritually since ancient times - often for important cultural ceremonies or religious events. There is also a strong overlap between some parts of early religion and what many would consider now to be modern witchcraft, making it difficult to tell when one separated from the context of the other. However, the athame in particular dates back to the Key of Solomon grimoire from the 14th-15th centuries (the official date is contested). There is some translation disagreement about what kind of blade it specifies, however it has become a common tool of the modern witch and Wiccan nonetheless.
Some little things I've learned over a decade of witchcraft:
If you are feel called to work but are tired/drained, sit outside. Take in all the energies around you. Nature can help charge you
Every witch does a little bit of a bunch of types of magic but sticks mainly to one or two in general. You usually won't be eclectic forever. You'll find what magics work best with you.
Never be lazy or cut corners with spirits. Always be respectful and always tell them to leave when you're done
When you see a plant or ingredient with a long list of properties, there are different things at play. Season of collection, the part of the plant, the health of the plant, etc all play a role in impacting which properties it will carry.
Don't call on spirits unless you have confidence and control
Be careful with sea/water magic. Get into it gently and slowly until you have the energy figured out because it can get out of hand quickly.
Adding a little pinch of magic into your breakfast can make a major difference in your day.
Your personal emotions/feelings over something will impact a work
Planting some plants is good, not only to have a garden, but the dirt helps cleanse you too. Get all dirty and muddy. It's good for ya
Not all trees are nice
The more you listen to your intuition, the easier it will be to tell it apart from your anxieties and worries
Incense is very easy to make which is why it's usually cheap to buy. But you can find a million tutorials online on how to make your own personal incense which is great if you want a spell to take effect over a while but also want to infuse the fire energy in it.
The more you work with something the better feel you get for it. Cinnamon goes in almost everything i cook and most of my spells because me and cinnamon just get right along
Your path is yours and no one else's. It will look like yours and no one else's

Nazis will never be welcome in paganism. They have no space in our communities, we will have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to nazis. You have no right to the cultures, gods and religions you hijack to spread your disgusting ideologies. You will find no refuge or comraderie amongst pagans.
Reblog to let nazis know they’re not welcome here.
