abstract and modern art haters are sooo snobby like klein literally Created an entirely new pigment and then painted a canvas in a way where the brush strokes wouldn't be visible. the insinuation that people with no skill could reproduce that is so annoying because unless you are skilled at color mixing and painting you definitely couldn’t lmao
i hope it's okay to add this because i think it hits the nail directly on the head
Honestly, it's like picking up a book and saying "I know all these words, I can type, I could have written this" like there's no middle step between the technical ability and the finished work.
Don’t make your younger self into your own dead wife.
Real and growing possibility of him dying live on tv and nobody in the room noticing for minutes on end.
Likes charge, reblogs cast.
the among us show being a total gorefest on par with john carpenter's the thing is a really fun choice
the among us show having a gay orgy in the middle of it is another really fun choice
realizing many people don't know about infinity train creator owen dennis' among us show from years ago, which has been trapped in unreleased limbo all this time and was just dumped on streaming this morning with no advertisement. they don't even know about its weirdly stacked cast
This insane update from Neocities
I rag on Maes Hughes for being chill with genocide but to be *entirely* fair upon a reread, it's not like he's loving it, he's just not particularly haunted by it either. Roy rants about how this is a betrayal of how he joined the military to protect people (mistake number one, dude, seriously) and Maes calls him naive. His reason for fighting is to stay alive. While Roy talks about his dreams of a better future, Maes refers to letters from his girlfriend as his brighter future. He's willing to support Roy's ambitions because Roy's his friend, but he thinks they're childish.
The impression I get is that Hughes has decided he can tolerate atrocities as long as he stays alive and can go home to his loving family, so he leans into that loving family really hard. That's his reward. That's what makes it worth it. Which adds a layer to Envy killing him while disguised as his wife. You can't hold those things separate. If you're a collaborator propping up an awful regime, your family (and you) will still eventually become its victims. The rot at the heart of the nation is wearing your loved one's face.
#Rlly don't think envy changing into his wife was supposed to read like that but it's SUCH a good read actually#Like yeah. You collaborate with a fascist government and help do genocide and hide behind your family to do it???#Get murdered by a member of that government dressed up as your wife. Idiot.#I think hughes is a pretty fantastic character bc he's introduced as this loving family man and then gets violently murdered#So you're primed to see him as a particularly successful variant of the 'soldier doomed to death bc he talked about his wife' trope#And then you hit volume 15 and its like. Ah. He's a horrible person huh#It's not that it wasnt there before. In his very first pages of screentime he's already a little too calm about dead bodies#But it was so easy to just. Largely ignore that bloodlessness because the family love was so extravagantly in your face#So it still feels absolutely jarring and it's great!! That's the point!!!#The POINT is that this loving family man was also a horrible person who aided in a genocide!!#Hughes is a normal person who under normal circumstances would've been/was pleasant to be around#But ultimately only really cared about him and his and was able to compartmentalize the atrocities as part of his job#And introducing him by his best traits only to later show his worst is imo one of the most successful narrative choices fma makes#Bc it's such a strong message in regards to the government; amestris; and the ishvalan massacre#Namely that there are no good people here. All your friends are war criminals. Normal ppl won't LIKE doing genocide but they WILL do it#Even (perhaps especially) the loving family man who carried those photos of his wife straight to the massacre sites#Fma has SO MANY issues with regards to its portrayal of genocide and hughes' character is certainly not exempt from those#But I think hughes' character was still one of the most successful parts of it#And it's infuriating how the fandom just. Plugs their ears and pretends not to notice it#Bc noticing would require facing up to some very uncomfortable truths about the haha funny wifeguy#Which is of course. Exactly the point#Sorry about the tag essay op hope none of it was too off the mark#I just think hughes is a fantastic character and also a deeply awful person
FLY is a story about a boy who gets a second chance. Help his story take flight June 9th 11am EST on Kickstarter. Thank you for being the wind beneath my wings I hope this story lifts the world to a brighter place.

Tired: J.K. Rowling supporting a woman with anti-trans views. Wired: Buffy actor Anthony Stewart-Head quietly going above and beyond for his
In 2015 Anthony Head and his wife Sarah reached out to a young trans man who was sad that his previous pictures/autographs with Head were of his pre-transition self + deadname. They invited him to spend a day on their farm, and got him new autographs/photos.
On Reagan's deathaversary I just want to say:
It rules when homophobes die
It rules when conservative icons drop dead
It Will Happen
"I asked ChatGPT" well I asked Rupert Giles and he sighed and took off his glasses and started cleaning them
I can't believe we've lost Anthony Head. I grew up with Buffy, watching him as a complex father figure. I know I won't be alone in my grief of this wonderfully talented man.
Rest in peace.
The thing that tells you you’ve succeeded in making your characters believable people is ironically one of the sometimes stingiest things an author can hear:
“I don’t like them.”
Active dislike of a character you’ve written—specifically because of their qualities and not because they seem 2d or whatnot—means you’ve made a believable person, and the thing about real people is that nobody, no matter how popular, is for everyone.
Real people have undesirable qualities. They’re inconsistent, smelly, messy, irrational, cowardly and heroic at turns that you wish were reversed. They love the wrong people, the wrong things, they vest their best efforts in the places that seem least worthy.
Real people are sweaty, unpredictable, argumentative, rude, beautiful, ugly, and whole.
A mentor and friend once told me that if nobody dislikes you it probably means you’ve never stood for anything. I feel the same way about characters. If nobody who’s reading the book dislikes them? They’re not saying enough.
Say it. Say it all. Make them people. Embrace some readers not liking them.
It means they’re that much closer to real.
