In this edition of "shit expected and demanded of female politicians that male candidates have literally never had to face", if you lose a race you are personally responsible for any and all suffering caused by your opponent, no other factors are responsible, it is entirely you, and you owe everyone, what do you owe them exactly? who knows, but you fucking owe them.
You’re responsible for everything that’s happened, but you’re also forbidden from saying a word about it because you need to SHUT UP and GO AWAY FOREVER. You’re are going to be constantly criticized for what people think you did wrong during the election, but you’re not allowed to suggest that there’s anything else that might have been a factor other than your own incompetence, even if it’s been the subject of an investigation and there’s volumes of evidence. You’re also not allowed to say a word against the guy who ran against you in the primary and encouraged his supporters to think of you as unqualified and corrupt. And if you do speak (you treacherous harpie) you’re clearly not doing so as a private citizen, because there are still people alive who are mad at you.
Also, you will be compared to other Democratic candidates who lost their elections who definitely did not talk about the election afterward. Al Gore? Never said a word about the 2000 election afterward. Not a single syllable against George W. Bush. I mean, probably, right? Also that John Kerry, what a good loser he was! Never said a word about the swift boat thing, because he knew to shut up. I mean, sure, maybe there’s plenty of evidence that these things are absolutely 100% not true, but they *feel* true, don’t they?
