Whitty shuffled through the back alley, peering over his shoulder every so often. He was… trying to find some food. It wasn’t going too well this time…
Unbeknownst to him, a certain cloud had noticed…
- @ask-the-angry-puffball
Updike had snuck off from some carefully-sewn destruction, for which he was to blame. He was just starting to get back to his base of operations, when he saw Whitty. Well, not his version of the bomb man. But before he could register that, his mouth had already opened.
“Whitmore?” fluff said, not an ounce of malice in fluff's tone.
He appreciated the comfort, but he really did need to. All the time. It was… one of the only things that’s kept him alive? Well, that and running.. He would keep groveling, just to be safe.“O- o-ok-!” He scurried after them, surprisingly quiet for someone his size.
Well, off they went. After a while, they straight up exited the city, reaching a large, mansion-like building. The doors in were quite large, but Updike pushed them open effortlessly, like they weren't at least 10 feet tall. He stepped through, leaning on the one he opened to allow Whitty a way in.
Once the bombhead entered, he released pressure from the door, and smiled. “Welcome to my humble abode~” The word "humble" in this context is clearly sarcastic.

He jumped almost a foot in the air and yelped, skittering backwards. He recognized that voice, even if it was… deeper than usual. “I- I- I-” He stuttered, a wild, terrified look in his eyes. His eyes darted around, landing on Updike, and he froze.
It was clear that this one was not the Updike this Whitty knew. He carried himself different, was slightly taller, and seemed much more relaxed than the child. He had a devious smirk on his face, looking at the other.
He was honestly almost amused by this one's exaggerated reaction. Of course, his smile faltered slightly upon taking in the other's appearance. This one was not in good condition, were they? “Calm down there, jumpy. I don't exactly have a reason to hurt you.” he may be evil, but he wasn't pointlessly cruel. Well, not most of the time.
He calmed down eeever so slightly. “Y-you don’t?” Oh he looks like a giant puppy…. A giant, very sad puppy. Who has recently been kicked. Were- were they not.. going to…?
“Hmmm... Unless you're one of my enemies, then no! And you certainly don't look like one of those pests.” Shade is honestly sort of concerned for this one. Shade hadn't seen a bombhead other than Whitmore since... Ever! Maybe this Whitmore should meet him... “In fact! You actually resemble one of my allies! Albeit much smaller, and without the horns.”
“I’m.. n-not one of your enemies?” Wh… he was not used to this. And, they…? He perked up a tiny bit. “I- I do?” There was… another bombhead? And they weren’t small and terrifying? “C-can- can I m-me-m-” He was… still very scared. And nervous. He stuttered when he was nervous…
“I mean, you haven't given me a reason to consider you one! In fact, you seem dead-set on doing the exact opposite...” it was concerning, but also sort of funny. He was certain this person didn't know what he'd done, so for them to be so jumpy right away was amusing.
His their request, his smile softened. The big guy would really love that, shade was sure. “I don't see why not! I'm sure he'll be excited to be another member of his species~”
Did shade cut him off? Maybe. In shade's defense, it was fairly obvious to shade what the other was trying to say.
He nodded frantically. “Y-yes! Yes! Very much not-an-enemy! No threat here!” It seemed he was being genuine, given that he had done literally nothing and was… still shaking like a leaf (albeit a bit less than earlier).
He was, actually, quite grateful that they butted in. He didn’t think he would’ve been able to finish his sentence otherwise… “c-could- could we, um- g-go now?” He was actually genuinely excited, even though he was still scared. Maybe it would be nice? M-maybe.. they could be friends?
Fluff chortled at Whitty's words, somewhat entertained. “Relax, jumpy,” he said that almost like it was a nickname. “I know you don't pose a threat to me. No need to grovel about it.”
Shade was certain this one wouldn't have the confidence to do any real damage, and even if he did, shade could easily dispose of him. “Of course, we don't have all day.” Fluff said, waving his hand flagrantly and walking in a certain direction.

The intruders had Updike surrounded, five–to–one. The leader stepped forward, pointing their weapon at him. “This is it, villain! It's over for you, we've got you surrounded!”
Despite his seemingly precarious situation, the short cloudman only laughed, not breaking eye contact with the supposed "hero". “Au contraire, my dear friend! This fight isn't as said and done as you think!” He grinned.
“What the hell is that supposed to mean?!” The leader barked at him. Updike was silent, before pulling out a remote and pressing an orange button on it. “It means I have one more trick up my sleeve, "hero".” he said, putting quotations around the word "hero".
“Wh-what did that button do?” Another one asked, looking considerably more nervous. Updike looked at her, smile not faltering. “well, I'd tell you, but I think you'll find that the answer will become extremely obvious it's own.”
Before anyone could order another word, the sound of loud, booming footsteps thundered from a ways off, a couple rooms away. “What the!?- what the hell is making that noise?!” The leader yelled, gritting his teeth.
“Don't be so rude, my friend! You see,—” he cut himself off, just as the Beast came in from behind the group, looming over them. “—His name is Whitmore.”
