WHO: Pinky Parkinson and Fabian Prewett
WHEN: Saturday, March 18th, 1978.Â
WHERE: The Room of Requirement
It all began once she finished her first drink.
She drank it rather quickly, gulping down top to bottom until only an empty glass was in her hand. It was a party, after all, and she loved the person she turned into after a few drinks. It wouldnât hurt to speed the process up. She was pouring her second when a peculiar feeling came over her. She saw a spot of red hair in the distance, just over the head of a pair of boys snogging in between other couples dancing. Hmm, she mused, that reminds me of Fabian. She smiled, moving in that direction, thinking it would be very nice to see Fabian, to dance with him. It would be like dancing with Gideon, only someone more intelligent, more thoughtful.Â
When she thought about it that way, Fabian was actually quite the catch. What did she ever seen in his brother? Something like excitement tittered in her chest as she followed her target. When she stepped from the crowd and saw that it was not Fabian, her heart sunk in her chest. No, no, that wouldnât do. She pushed back through the dancers, taking a sip of her drink, and then spilling a little on the girl next to her. With hardly a look or an apology, she continued on, until finally, there he was. She stepped from the crowd, a growing smile blossoming across her face. She stopped, waiting for him to notice her, flipping her hair as she did. @the-fabianprewettÂ
A party hadnât exactly seemed appropriate at a time like this, considering how every other party this school year had ended, but that was exactly why Fabian had wanted to go. With the chaos of the war brewing around them, it was only right that the students of Hogwarts should seek out a little bit of fun, a chance to make some good memories before the end of the school year and the uncertainty they faced. And should this party end the way so many others had already, well, Fabian supposed having as many members of the Order present could only help. It was also why he hadnât been quick to finish his first drink, hadnât even been quick to sip it at first. Fabian was by no means a lightweight, but heâd figured remaining alert would be important.
By the time heâd finished his first drink, however, he found he was no longer very worried about remaining vigilant. Instead, his thoughts had turned to wondering where he might find Glenda- and then he wasnât thinking about her any longer either. For some inexplicable reason thoughts of Pinky Parkinson filled his mind and Fabian found it was her blonde curls he searched for in the crowd. She wasnât difficult to pick out, she never had been. Her bright personality stood out in any crowd and Fabian traversed the room to get closer. He watched as she tossed her hair over her shoulder and wondered at the way his heart seemed to race- he understood now why Gideon seemed to like her so much. The urge to talk to her, to confront this strange feeling, was overwhelming and before Fabian could consider the consequences, heâd already called out to her. âPinky!â He covered his uncertainty over what to say next by side stepping the few dancers remaining between them. âItâs good to see you.âÂ
