“Waitress?” Beth repeated, a little thrown off by the question. “Uhh, no. I just got here, sorry.” She gave the extremely tall man a brief once-over before returning her gaze to the ground. He looked familiar, although she couldn’t quite place it. “Sorry, do I know you from somewhere?” She probably should have if he’d seen Lia anywhere, or possibly even Lucia, but she couldn’t shake the feeling that this was important. Whatever ‘this’ was.
This diner had a habit of being ridiculously busy around this time which would have bothered the hunter, but he found himself there more often than he’d ever like to admit. Days like this, he wasn’t even sure his waitress remembered him, but he supposed there were worse things than waiting. “Do you-” He frowned, offering her a light shake of the head. “Sorry, I don’t think so.” But it was almost never a coincidence for Sam, when someone asked that. If she recognized him, it was for his day job, which meant she was probably dangerous.
