Shrouded Stars🌟 It was so fun painting Hidden Stars that I had to make a mirrored version with dark wings :)
Video of the painting process:
Dahling you simply must read this book! It’s all about this devious little caterpillar who simply gorges himself on all manner of divine things
Decided to use these drawings of my oc Minerva as key poses and animate her!
One of life's great ironies is that almost everyone who makes the active decision to not have kids would probably be way better at raising a child than all the people who just kind of have children because it's what they think everyone is supposed to do
Like genuinely if you're like "I don't want kids because of the financial strain/the commitment/the irritation I would feel/the possibility of traumatizing them/whatever reason" you instantly demonstrate to me that you 1) understand the realities of parenthood and 2) believe that children should be treated with at least a base level of respect and compassion. Meanwhile everyone who's like "I want kids because I don't want to be alone" "I can't wait to dress up my babies" "I won't raise my children to be soft" may as well be talking about Neopets for all the fucks they seem to give about kids
The thing is, even if you were lucky and your parents taught you how to clean, they probably didn't teach you how to clean the stuff you clean stuff with, like brushes, mops, sponges, rags, and so on. Or how to clean your cleaning appliances, like a dish washer, clothes washing machine, and clothes dryer and its ducts (if you have a ducted dryer), or a carpet cleaner, vacuum, Or how to clean up clean messes, like spilled bleach or detergent.
My parents threw away all of these things (even the vacuum cleaners and the dryer) when they got too dirty to function, because no one even told them THAT they could be cleaned. Cost them thousands of dollars over the years.
All I'm saying is that cleaning is not intuitive, and not knowing how to clean is not a moral failing, but it is something you can learn.
I'm going to reblog this post with resources for learning how to clean things and how to clean cleaning things (I'm not at my desk at the moment). If you have any favorites, please feel free to add them in too!
I like this video because it does a great job of introducing the basic foundations of house cleaning (and because he doesn't use bleach, which is a common allergy in addition to being awful to inhale). He also talks a little about how to clean a vacuum. And why you shouldn't put grease from your pots and pans down the sink drain. I also love that he mentions that different houses and different people have different needs and different versions of what clean and cleaning looks like.
He doesn't mention though that the toilet seat comes off. I take my toilet seat off to clean under the hinges and clean the seat more thoroughly once a quarter.
This is another video from the same guy about cleaning and depression. This advice, especially at the beginning, can feel really really difficult and oppressive to hear. However, I find that it's generally pretty solid. But I'm autistic and so is he, so that gets a massive Your Mileage May Vary stamp on it.
I have a favorite part of this video. It's from 10:52 to 12:36. I think we could all use to hear that. There's a HEFTY pause after that one. I promise the narration does come back.
I'm also going to recommend KC Davis' book "How To Keep House While Drowning"
This is a pair of videos about how to correctly load and use a dish washer.
The first one is a quick 1 minute 30 second overview on loading. I can't find the exact video I'm looking for, so consider this a substitute for that. If I can find the one I'm looking for, I'll swap it in.
The second is a half hour deep dive on dishwashers and detergents. The short form of that is you shouldn't need to pre-rinse anything, detergent pods are overpriced and can cause problems, some dishwashers have a filter in the bottom that needs to be cleaned (but most don't), run your sink until the water is HOT before starting your dish washer, and put a little detergent in the pre-rinse dispenser when you're washing extra dirty dishes (or on the inside of the door if your dishwasher doesn't have a pre-rinse dispenser).
Favorite Scrub Brushes + How to Clean Them. The right tools for cleaning tasks make all the difference! Scrub brushes are great tools and it
Here's a blog post about scrubbing brushes and how to clean them.
And a video for all cleaning tools, including scrub brushes. This video does use bleach. I'll try to find some alternatives to that.
How to clean a front load washer (with bleach). This should be done monthly or every time you wash really soiled clothes.
With expert tips and tricks for all types of washers.
How to clean a top loader (without the removable agitator thing). This should be done every 1-3 months depending on you unit, or every time you wash really soiled clothes.
Regular cleaning of a top-load washing machine will prolong the life of the appliance and leave your laundry cleaner and brighter.
How to clean a top loader (with the removable agitator thing). This should be done every month, or every time you wash really soiled clothes.
This video is for pet owners.
These carpet brushes are a LIFE SAVER if you have dogs. This thing allows me to go from vacuuming about 4 square feet before my vacuum is full to vacuuming half the living room (I don't vacuum often enough. You should vacuum weekly, and I just can't.). I have to unclog the vacuum less often. It fluffs up some of the flat spots in the carpet. And I also use the brush to shampoo my rugs in the spring.
A spot cleaner (or a carpet cleaner with a spot cleaner attachment) is another life saver, ESPECIALLY if you can afford to splurge on a heated one. I see them at Goodwill or at yard sales occasionally, and they're worth picking up. The shark one in the video is great too.
This channel is gold. There's tutorials for cleaning EVERYTHING on there. Just go subscribe!
Mohammed Ibrahim is a kid growing up in Florida, United States. He has family in the West Bank, Palestine. This past February he took a vacation to go visit them. While he was visiting, Israeli soldiers raided the family's home, blindfolded him, forced him into a vehicle, beat him with the butt of a rifle during transport, and held him captive in an Israeli military prison.
He was arrested and detained with no trial. An investigation into the detention of Palestinian children in the occupied West Bank by Defense for Children International – Palestine (DCIP) found that about 75% were subjected to physical violence following their arrest and that over 85% were not even given a reason for their arrest. His birthday was in March, and he turned 16 behind bars. Like many children detained in Israel, he has been held in a cold cell, physically abused, and denied adequate food and healthcare. His relatives report that Mohammed lost a quarter of his body weight and contracted scabies. As of writing, he is still incarcerated and unable to speak to his parents.
In July, Mohammed's cousin Sayfollah Musallet (also a US citizen living in Florida who visited their family in the West Bank) was beaten to death by Israeli settlers. Mohammed's family has been working for months with advocacy groups, pleading to get the US government to defend their own citizens from Israel.
Yousef Munayyer, head of the Palestine/Israel program at the Arab Center Washington DC said of this case, “The US government simply does not care about Palestinians with US citizenship who are killed or unjustly detained by Israel. Our government is not unaware of these cases. They are themselves complicit. In many cases where Palestinian Americans have been killed, the government does nothing. This is not unique to the Trump administration.”
My friend Ahmed (@ahmedaldaniii) is the same age as Mohammed.
Ahmed grew up in Gaza, Palestine and has endured the violence of Israeli occupation since before he was even born. Israeli attacks exposed his mother to toxic gasses while she was pregnant with Ahmed, and he was born with a disability that impacts the growth of his teeth. This health condition has become difficult to treat as Israel has destroyed healthcare infrastructure.
Over 94% of hospitals in Gaza have been damaged or destroyed with many no longer operational. Healthcare workers are routinely targeted and killed or detained in Israeli military prisons. In the last two years at least 1,722 healthcare workers have been killed in Israeli strikes, and at least 431 have been detained according to Healthcare Workers Watch (HWW).
Ahmed is #198 on the @gazavetters list. Please help him to raise money for his healthcare needs including: nutritious food, clean water, repairs for his family's tent, and travel out of Gaza to a healthcare facility that can provide him with dental implants.
My name is Ahmad Dany. I am writing to you from the heart of the daily suffering we … Ahmad dany needs your support for Help Ahmed And His F
Life is getting harder here guys because we don't have enough food, water, medicine and protection. We don't have a home to protect us. We live in an uninhabitable tent and we don't eat any healthy food. Please help us by donating and don't leave us alone. Please donate.
Any amount counts! Please help him out. <3
Please don't forget Ahmed and his family, share and give what you can to help their vetted campaign
Please, friends, help us and don't leave us. Today, the occupation bombed many places and committed massacres as well, and breached the ceasefire. The situation here is getting more dangerous. Please help us by donating and don't leave us until we can get out of here and until we can buy food and water. Please donate.🥺
Please help families in Gaza today. The bombing is relentless.

we're not ever gonna make this website a safe space for black people or have a substantial black user base anymore unless y'all (non blacks obv) come to grips with the fact that y'all hold internal biases whether some of y'all be blatantly racist and hide behind your disabilities/mental illnesses queerness/transness or it's something as simple as if you see a black face on your dash you immediately swipe up
i just think it’s a bit ridiculous to expect marginalised communities to have endless goodwill and patience for people who wouldn’t piss on them if they were on fire

Hello, I’m really embarrassed to be making this post but I suffered a breakdown that caused me to delete most of my social media accounts.
I could use some help financially. I can’t currently take commissions, but if you’d like to support me, please consider donating to my ko-fi.
Become a supporter of starteas today!
Apologies for the other reblog, but I’m in a bit of a bind right now.
I’m currently working through my commissions queue, but I know a recent lapse in my mental health has made it difficult to stay energized.
I’ve got a handful of payments coming up that I’m ill-equipped to pay, so any help is very much appreciated. 🙏
Sorry for the secondary re-reblog; but I've got a balance I can't currently pay, rent, and other things that has me at my wits end. I hate to make it sound like I'm begging when I know others need it more, but the job search hasn't been going well.
Thanks again if you can help, and if you can't, thank you again for spreading the word.
The nerve that you're will to starve millions because you wish to cut the very health care that aids them.
But a ballroom is worth pawning off the lives of millions.

John Adams: “I study war and diplomacy, so that my son may study trade and commerce, so that his son may study art and music.”
When trans women are mocked and made into jokes in the media, I get very upset, and I am often told “Kay, you can’t go through life getting offended every time someone makes a joke.” And I sputter and object but they don’t hear me. So I want to be clear for once, about why the jokes make me angry.
I learned to hate myself for being transgender before I knew I was transgender. I laughed at the jokes in stand up comedy routines, and prime time sitcoms, and animated comedy shows, and in the movies, and in books, and in games, laughing at trans women for existing, about “men in dresses”, about people who “got their dicks chopped off”, and I learned to think that was worthy of ridicule.
And then a day came when I felt a pang of envy at what my female classmates were wearing and I repressed it, and felt guilty, and a day where I felt incomplete because I had no breasts and I repressed it and I felt disgusting And a day when I realized the only images of romance that made me feel anything showed two women together and I repressed it and I felt like a monster And a day when I realized I felt sick when I looked at myself in the mirror after every shower before work and couldn’t bear to look at my own face, and I hated myself. And then there came a day when I hated myself so much, and I thought I could never understand why, and so I just wanted it all to end. And it was just a miracle that I swerved my car back into my lane in time.
And all of it started with a joke that I heard on TV, and then kept hearing from all the voices from the ether, over and over and over, worming an idea into my mind before I was old enough to realize I was absorbing it, the idea that a man in a dress is funny, and that changing your body parts makes you a freak, and that women who have penises instead of vaginas are liars and hurt men. And they’re still making these jokes. And somewhere out there right now, just like all those years ago, there is a little girl in a t-shirt and cargo shorts with buzzed off hair watching the TV, hearing that joke and absorbing it without knowing it, who will someday have to pry herself apart to tear it out of her head, just like I did.
That is, if she doesn’t kill herself first.
I know this is a really heavy post but if you read it and you appreciated it, I’d appreciate it in return if you reblogged it. This is really important to me and I want people to read it and understand it. Thank you.
i really like this thing where websites will have separate "log in" & "sign up" buttons and if you click "log in" it takes you to a sign-up screen anyway so you have to click "i already have an account" and then it will ask if you want to sign in with your facebook account or with instagram or linkedin or deviantart or whatever, and if you choose "username & password" it asks if you want to put in your username or use your thumbprint, and once you put your username & password it emails you a confirmation code, and once you put in the code it says "do you want to give us your phone number for future sign-ins? do you want to sign up for facial recognition? do you want to give us your bones? give us your fucking bones?

My friends, your standing by us here is no less than a fleet of resilience — in fact, it is even more.💔🙏🫂
This injustice that you witnessed, Greta, is only a small part of what we suffer under the occupation every day.

💔 My friends, these activists tried to reach us; they were on their way to bring us aid and food, and to try to save us from homelessness and hunger.
🙏 Please, we ask you to take their place by supporting us.

Two years have passed since the genocide, starvation, and killing.
Two years since we lost everything — our home and our work.
Two years of sleeping in the streets.
Two years of humiliation and suffering.
Two years that words cannot describe, because what we have seen and continue to see is beyond what any mind can imagine.
Now, the suffering has grown even greater since I gave birth to my baby.
My fear has grown too — fear of losing him because of hunger, lack of food, and the absence of hygiene.
Please, my friends, don’t leave us alone.
My baby needs you to stay safe and alive. 💔
