When Kafka said,
"One of the first sings of beginning of understanding is the wish to die."
But Ghalib said,
"Marte hain arzoo mein marne ki, maut aati hai par nahin aati."

When Kafka said,
"One of the first sings of beginning of understanding is the wish to die."
But Ghalib said,
"Marte hain arzoo mein marne ki, maut aati hai par nahin aati."
“Ab to unki yaad bhi aati nahin, kitni tanha ho gayin tanhaiyan”
- Firaq Gorakhpuri
When Albert Camus Said -
“I was with them and yet I was alone.”
But Jaun Eliya Said -
“Ehd-e-rafaqat theek hai, lekin mujhko aisa lagta hai, tum to mere saath rahogi main tanha reh jaaunga”
When Ahmed Faraz said -
"Main dost purana he sahi magar zinda hoon, kisi shaam mujhe bhi yaad kar liya karo."
And Parveen Shakir wrote -
“Tum ne kaha tha har shaam tera haal poochenge, tum badal gaye ho ya tumhare shaher mein shaam he nahi hoti”.
When Javed Akhtar wrote and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan sang, "Chehra uska hai ya koi mahtaab hai."
And Richard Siken wrote, "You were pointing at the moon and I was looking at your hand."
Lagta hai sach he kaha tha Wajid ne,
"Waadiyon ki veeraniya he sahi, Halaat mere bhi kashmir se hain."
- Wajid Shaikh, from book Sukoon.
These lines hits different,
"Tum mere ho mujh ko yaqeen tha, jhooth tha magar kitna haseen tha."
And when Mahmoud Darwish wrote,
"Tumhari gair maujoodgi mein sab theek hain, siwaye mere."
When Kafka said,
"The separation into two people is unbearable."
And Ghalib said,
"Ek judai ka wo lamha ke Jo marta hi nhi, log kehte the sabhi waqt guzar jaate hain."
When Wajid Shaikh said,
"Khud ki qadar na ho saki mujhe, sabab yeh bhi hai meri barbaadiyon ka raha."
We all felt it.
In English we say,
"In a war of ego, the loser always wins."
But in Urdu we say,
"Yeh ek baat samjhne mein raat hogyi hai, main is se jeet gaya hoon ki maat hogyi hai."
Jaun Eliya passed away and left all of his sadness to us-
“Kya bataun ki marr nahin pata, Jeete ji jab se marr gaya hun main.”
"Tumhare hone se sab kuch theek ho jaata hai, yahaan tak ki main bhi."
"Khuda tumko mujhse behtar humsafar se nawaaze, taaki tumhari mujhe chhodne ki koshish bekaar na ho."
In English we say,
"Possessiveness."
But in Urdu we say,
"Nahin pasand mohabbat mein milawat mujhko, agar woh mera hai toh khawab bhi mere dekhe."
I don’t know if this is bad luck or what, but–
“Har us cheez ne dil dukhaya jis par naaz tha.”
When they ask,
"Where are you??"
And Ghalib replied,
"Hum wahaan hain jahaan hum ko bhi, Kuch humari khabar nahin aati."
