@the-hope-bunny
I'm sorry I've been gone
I've had to take myself out of RPing for the foreseeable future.... I'll follow lots of you on my personal blog for now :)
Eyes still closed, he gave the girl a lopsided grin. âIâd like to see ya try hon. Canât keep with much bunny cooped up.â For a moment, he tried to fight the heaviness of his eyelids. âYouâre just too good at that, you know. Hereâs me being a lousy guest.â
âThat is true...
The drooping eyes quickly widened, and he tensed considerably, ears flicking back and forward at the mention of the dog.
"You ahhh, never mentioned a pooch." He cleared his throat. In anyone else it would have been a sign of nerves. "She's not a hunting type is she? ." He paused, and quickly rushed to explain. "Wouldn't want her to get hurt if she came rushing after me. Instinct takes over sometimes, yo know?"
âThe good monumentally outweighs the bad. I maybe be a spirit of love but Iâm not a fool. If it didnât, I wouldnât have accepted him in my life as a lover.â She sighed before smiling, âI love him so much it hurts. I canât imagine living without...
The Pooka's eyes softened at the girl's words. The was nothing more strengthening to the spirit than seeing hope bloom on it's own, bringing light to those who need it.
"Right you are love. My advice? If he really pisses you off, remember that the power from a punch comes from you legs." He demonstrated the full body twist required for a good hit, then winked at the girl. "Just in case, of course."
âAt least weâll be there to say I told you so.â He smirked.
âIt used to but not anymore. Iâve come to terms to the fact that this life of mine belongs to the humans. So it really doesnât matter to me. As for who Iâm going to end up withâŠI donât think...
He gave a half smile in return, then scratched his chin in thought.Â
"I spose that does sound like it's more my thing than Cupid's, don't it."Â
He pulled out a blank egg, and began painting. It was covered in an intricate pattern of interwoven lines and swirls. It helped him to court out his thoughts.Â
"You of all people should know, people do end up with their soulmates. You see it all the time. Why do you get to be so different?
He relaxed, boneless, on the ground next to Lottie, never moving faster than what her hands could keep up with. âYeah, Knight or a Lord. Theyâd do in a pinchâŠ.â he trailed off, barely thinking. âI used to be knight ya know, back on the home planet.â His eyes had sunk...
Eyes still closed, he gave the girl a lopsided grin. "I'd like to see ya try hon. Can't keep with much bunny cooped up." For a moment, he tried to fight the heaviness of his eyelids. "You're just too good at that, you know. Here's me being a lousy guest."
He looked closer at the boy. Something seemed to have upset him. âAh, i didnât mean any harm by it. Iâm sure your sisterâs great at it. Whatâs the little tackerâs name anyhow? Maybe iâve seen her around.â He didnât want to really piss the boy off, not when heâd just met the boy.
Jack smiled, âWe call her Pippa.â Recently, he had played a trick on her, and she got upset with him. He was trying to make up for it by playing hide and seek with her. Jack was worried she would be even more sad if she fails to find him.Â
âPippa eh? Sounds like a strong little sheila. Sure sheâll find us in a jiffy. She might even stumble across a couple of the googies iâve stashed around the joint.â He looked at the boy before him, who was searching the surrounding forest with worried eyes. âSounds like your pretty fond of her.â
Jack smiled to himself, still scanning the forest for his sister. âQuite.â He signed and turned his attention back to his new friend. âSheâs my sister. She is a pain sometimes, but I love her.â Â
He smiled, but there was a touch of sadness in it. âI know exactly how that goes. Had a little sister of my own. Whenever I was just about ready to strangle her, she turned on the smile. Got me every time.â
Jack nodded, âPippa does the same.â He sank to the ground and crossed his legs, then suddenly froze, realizing what was said. ââŠ.had?â he half-whispered, peering up at the bunny. Maybe he heard him wrong?Â
The Pooka shrugged, and sunk down onto the tree roots. âYeah, had. Letâs just say you arenât gonna meet anyone else like me. Iâm the last Pooka.â He looked anywhere but at the boy before him.
Jack just stared at him, scared to say anything more on the topic. ââŠwhat happened?â he hesitated to ask, but his curiosity won.
The Pooka levelled a stare at the boy before him. Jack didn't seem to want the idle gossip. He looked away agin, gathering his thoughts, and cleared his throat. "Well it was a fair while ago. You humans where only just coming out of the caves, really. Me and the other Pookas were on a fairly good thing, up on what you lot call the moon nowadays. But we ran into a spot of trouble, during what humans call the dark ages."
He had to pause here. By talking about it, the memories were flooding back.Â
"I was the only one who made it off, before heâŠâŠ"
The pooka closed his eyes, breathing out through his nose. He was too angry to speak

"Kiddo, you're lucky i'm the forgiving sort. And that you called me your favourite."Â

"The what of love"
((He loves it))
The simple joy, the certainty in the girlâs statement made the Pooka warm from the inside out. He smiled down at her. âJust like i told ya. And just like yo knew all along. Hopeâs a powerful thing, iâd say.â His smile turned into a cocky grin. He was much more comfortable without the emotional stuff. âYouâre welcome for that by the way.â
âWell, Iâd like to think iâve definitely changed. Learnt my lesson. So thank the moon for that.âÂ
She chuckled. âThanks, Bun. Youâre awesome as always. I donât know what Iâd do without you and your motivation.â She meant it. No one had given her hope like Bunny had. That may be because it was his duty but she was glad to have a friend like him.
âIâm glad you changed. It saved you from my wrath.â She winked. âI donât put up with that. Not even form my friends.â
He made a little bow in response to her thanks, grinning his lopsided grin. Where it came to his friends, their hope was his duty, and his pleasure.
He chuckled âI gotta say, it does put me at ease a little. Knowing you donât put up with any arrogance.â His grin slid off. âGuess i was just a bit worried about you going all wilted flower around Time to let him keep his ego afloat.âÂ
She thought on his words before responding. True, she didnât like arrogance and pride but Time tended to be both of those things now and again. He was prideful, arrogant, and tended to be full of himself. All these traits had been acquired after she fell in love him.Â
âHe wasnât always like this. He was kind, gentle and full of hope once.â Cupid smiled. âI never did let him get away with anything but I did mess up a a couple of instances and people suffered. So never again, he knows I love him no matter what but he understands that heâs better now and that going back to his old ways isnât going to make me happy.â
The Pooka shook his head. âNow now Cupy. I just canât believe that. You two have had some ups and downs, and Timeâs had some misadventures of his own. No oneâd come out of all that unchanged. I guess you just gotta wonder if the good outweighs the bad. Sounds to me like it does, but you gotta come to that decision yourself, I guess.â
âThe good monumentally outweighs the bad. I maybe be a spirit of love but Iâm not a fool. If it didnât, I wouldnât have accepted him in my life as a lover.â She sighed before smiling, âI love him so much it hurts. I canât imagine living without him. With all the bad and good, heâs my heart and Iâm afraid Iâll forgive him anything. At the same time, I wonât be able to stand it if he does make me suffer again, I wonât be able to take it. Itâs all so confusing and I guess thatâs what love really is.â
She groaned and fell backwards unto the grass, âI just hope I know what Iâm doing and he does too. I hope that weâll be okay. I have a lot of hope that weâll be happy again. I just want him to be okay whether that involves me or no.â
"Never took you for a fool hon." He rolled his eyes dramatically. "Course it hurts. It's love, ain't nothing else like it. He'll probably make you so angry you'll be ready to kill him, and you'll still love him more. It'll take time for you two to figure each other out, to figure out how you fit together. But it'll happen."
He thumped down onto the grass next to her, pulled out an egg, and began to paint. He listened to hers fears, and to her hopes, and smiled to himself.
"Sounds like your heart is in the exact right place Cupy. You just gotta trust it. It's gotten you this far ok, reckon it'll keep steering you true. 'Sides, i'll always be around to help you get to the happiness."
He dropped his eyelids at the scratching under his chin. He became so languid with the attentions. âSure we can sort something out. Heâd be lucky to wait. But i âspose you have to wait. Not if you find someone else.â
âIâm sure Iâll find someone else, just gotta have faith....
He relaxed, boneless, on the ground next to Lotte, never moving faster than what her hands could keep up with. "Yeah, Knight or a Lord. They'd do in a pinchâŠ." he trailed off, barely thinking. "I used to be knight ya know, back on the home planet." His eyes had sunk completely shut now.

He smiled, but there was a touch of sadness in it. "I know exactly how that goes. Had a little sister of my own. Whenever I was just about ready to strangle her, she turned on the smile. Got me every time."
âVery true. theyâll learn soon enough. It took me about a century or so for it to really kick in. I think itâs just denial at first. Must be worse for those who never knew theyâd have eternity.âÂ
âIâm not a string as I look. Not in the sentimental manner anyway.â He chuckled but nodded. âIt does give me hope. Not knowing what it holds gives me even more hope. I like the feeling of, for once, being oblivious and having to deal with it when it comes. Itâs nice to be able to guess.â
He shook his head, big ears bobbing. âPoor kids. And when it does hit, theyâll regret all the mouthinâ off they did.â
It was interesting to the Pooka that a spirit so involved in the planning of otherâs futures, could be so casual about his own. âI opened mine quick smart. Couldnât stand the curiosity. Doesnât it bug you, not knowing where youâre headed? Who youâre gonna end up with?â
âAt least weâll be there to say I told you so.â He smirked.
âIt used to but not anymore. Iâve come to terms to the fact that this life of mine belongs to the humans. So it really doesnât matter to me. As for who Iâm going to end up withâŠI donât think thatâs going to be something I have to worry about. Iâm not sure thatâs going to be for me.â
The spirit seemed so resigned to his fate, it bought a frown to the Aster's face.
"We're all in it for the humans, to the core, but that don't mean you should just give up on a life, or love for yourself. Seems to me that'd you'd do a better job helping the humans out if you've had a happy ending or two of your own."

Hw chuckled. "It's probably a good thing she ain't been her normal chatty self. Not sure what kind of impression you would have gotten from her."
At the mention of food, the Pooka's stomach rumbled in appreciation.Â
"I'd luv to. You got anything vegetarian on the menu?"
