Ocs dressing up for Halloween 🎃

I wanted to draw something for the holiday but kind of through my own point of view of it, which is that the appeal of Halloween is the excuse to wear costumes of things you enjoy. Had I not run out of steam, Ant as Beetlejuice would have probably fit the spooky theme nicely

The drawings show Arali, the first queen of Lapadei, and a young version of Dame Maria, the most recent leader of Lapadei. The two have an over 200-year gap between each other but have managed to collectively be the source of most of Ileosa's problems.

Arali was one of the first two humans transported to Ileosa, which, in comparison to its state now, used to be very primitive. Arali quickly took advantage of this, riled all the plant people(Lapadeians) behind her, and founded a kingdom called Lapadei. Although she brought on a lot of technological advancement and "civilization", her rule led Ileosa down a path of continuous chaos, war, and unrest for the next couple of hundred years and counting.

Dame Maria came around amidst a famine caused by a drought that the monarchy of the time failed to handle. She greatly looked up to Arali, as she believed the Lapadeian monarchy that followed Arali was a complete incompetent disappointment in comparison to their one and only human ruler, and thus needed to be toppled with a new system. Dame Maria often mimicked Arali, wearing black clothes, twin braids, and long gloves. She believed she could get Lapadei back to the glory it used to have before it was taken away. But this time, even more ambitious, and even more "under control".
