I quickly pulled myself up the ladder and into the meeting room, taking my seat at the head of the table. A few people were already in the room. Cowboy followed close behind me and soon enough everyone else was taking their seats.
“Right then!” Cheese stood up. “please tell me someone has seen my plant. The vine worm thing with the rose like face? It got out earlier and I can’t find it anywhere.”
“What?” Snow cried out. “Pup is wandering the ship alone! What if he’s in danger?!”
“I keep hearing these weird noises and seeing things get knocked over! It must have been the plant. That makes me feel better knowing I’m not being followed or something.” Flamingo says sighing with relief.
I nodded. “The same was happening to me. Alright everyone, for now, focus on finding the loose plant, snow, you find pup and put him in your room. And cheese, after this we’ve got to have a little talk about being more responsible.”
Cheese nodded. “Sorry wolf, heh.” They awkwardly rubbed the back of their head.
I slid down the ladder, followed by the others, and we spread out. I hopped onto the floating platform, making my way across and to the lounge.
I soon arrived, looking all around for the missing plant. In the pool table, the bathroom stalls, every nook and cranny until I was sure it wasn’t there. I soon walked out, heading down to the medbay, where I ran into Teddy, literally.
“Oof!” I fell back, hitting the ground.
“Ah! Wolf! So sorry about that.” He held out a hand and pulled me up.
“It’s no problem.” I regained my balance before looking back at him. “Any luck with the search?”
He shook his head. “Unfortunately not, I’m assuming you haven’t had any either since you’re asking.” He huffed out a laugh at that.
“You’d be correct. I just searched the lounge, wanna head into electrical together? It’ll be faster with both of us.” I offered.
“Sure thing, good leader!” He slapped me on the back lightheartedly, making me stumble forwards a bit, but he had already started walking and didn’t notice. I walked quickly to catch up as we entered the maze of rooms.
As soon as we entered, I heard a scuttling sound coming from the back room. We silently looked to eachother and nodded before heading in. It was silent for a second, before the plant creature launched itself out from behind a box, hissing at us.
“Jeez! Spicy little thing isn’t it?” Teddy chuckled.
I got on my hands and knees and crawled closer to where it was curled up in the corner. I gently reached out and scooped it up, standing up and facing teddy.
“Well, looks like you got him boss! I’ll go call at meeting and let the others know, you put that thing back in it’s cage.” He said before quickly walking out of the room and around the corner. I returned to the main hall soon after, placing the thing in its cage. I soon enough everyone was filing down from the meeting room with relief, Pup perched on Snow’s shoulder.
I nodded at them, watching as they all began heading back to their duties. As I entered my room, I noticed Cowboy waiting, looking at me from his seat on my bed. I closed the door behind me, taking off my helmet.
“Hey Cowboy, sorry about that interruption earlier, what were you going to ask?” I looked at him, holding my helmet under one arm.
He stood up, walking closer to me and taking off his helmet. “Well, I was wondering if sometime when we’re both free, you’d like to spend some time together? Like a date?” He asked nervously, with hope shining in his eyes.
I dropped my helmet in shock. “Oh.. uh-“
At this, Cowboy pushed closer, pinning me against the wall between his arms. “I have a perfect plan, a candlelit dinner at night, then we can go back to my room…”
his face was dangerously close to mine, and I could feel his hot breath on my lips as he leaned even closer.
I quickly pushed him off me and ducked away.
“Cowboy! I uh.. I’m sorry but, I don’t see you that way. I mean I’m your boss anyways! It’s not allowed.” I said quickly, putting my hands on his shoulders and leading him out my room. “See you tomorrow!” I said, closing the door as soon as he was out of my room.
As soon as I heard his footsteps leave, I groaned and collapsed onto my bed. Talk about awkward.
