I'm gonna say it,

One thing I think the animated series is missing, is that they made Molly more masculine than he usually is.

Which isn't wrong. I'm sure sometimes he feels that way, and he could pull off the look, sure.

But in the campaign, when Matt describes someone seeing Molly for the first time,

It's hard to tell his gender.

And as I understand it, Molly is canonically gender fluid, despite primarily going by he/him pronouns.

He's pretty. His hair is pretty. He's agile, but not bulky with strength. He's obviously very colorful and wears a lot of little baubles, rings and necklaces when he can get them, even when Nott says the rings are only for the ladies. I think he's wearing pink eyeshadow a lot of the time?? Though they never say it outright. Maybe they do in Talks Machina or something, but not in the campaign. He's wearing it in the official art.

But the figurines, and the animated series make his masculinity just much too constant, and they're missing a lot of these things that might show his more feminine side and the way he sort of dances beautifully and happily back and forth between the two.

It's one of the things I love about him.

Was chilling waiting for an npc to be done talking in bg3 when it cut back to my Tav and I realized we were hitting the same pose (arms crossed and thoughtful gaze) and started laughing
