There's a concerning amount of unnecessary violence against women in Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey that never happened in the original story from what I've been hearing. This always seems to happen, and they always claim it's "just more realistic". I'm so tired, man.

The horrific unnecessary part of Helen's face being scarred by Menelaus was like a tipping point for me because the director did it for shock value that gives nothing to the character and ruins both Menelaus and Helen's relationship as a result. Also the other women as in his previous films serve as a tool to boost the man's journey, nothing new, nothing different

trying to map out original pre-citadel ecoregions present in silksong

to the left of the map we obviously have the wormways blasted steps and sands of karak, which assumedly were part of the same area. i dont think it was coral though- they are described as having rivers and so the coral present is just a coral-looking plant fed by glacial meltwater from mount fay

the mosslands seem a fairly coherent area and i would go as far as to guess they could have extended into parts of the marrow pre-trade route establishment from the deep docks. im pretty convinced moss grotto actually used to be underwater and the main bonebottom cave would have been a reservoir from glacial melt, hence why there is greenery as opposed to the marrow nearby where the heat is too intense for a lot of plants.

its fairly obvious greymoor was originally looking like the wisp thicket due to the structures being made of bamboo

interestingly enough while pharloom did have access to the abyss at one point the architecture is the same as in hk making me believe the void worshippers built both pharloom's and hallownest's infra in the abyss

verdania has a lot of waterfalls which would be drainage from the sea through underground rivers (the sea being next to bilewater

sinners road probably would extend to the right under the sea and would originally have be a transition habitat between bilewater and the verdania areas.

as for the shining cavern itself we can only guess unfortunately

as for pharloom->hallownest i personally enjoy the sea connecting near to howling cliffs and also deepnest->going towards the great gate

i like the theory that the failed tramway originally was supposed to go to pharloom but the weavers present killed all the workers so there was no chance they could be hunted down by gms again so stopping that connection being made

decided to just wait a week and clear my mind then go see it in a cinema, it will probably be a better experience than watching a shitty pirated version. also ive never actually seen a movie in imax before and my local one got redone recently so its meant to be really nice in there now
