How Large We Must Seem To Ourselves

It’s said we will destroy the world

that we will drag mother nature into the gutter

and slit her throat.

Suffocate her with plastic bags

and suck life from her wounds.

Greedily burrow deep inside of her

and embalm her corpse in fire.

Yet how narcissistic are we

to believe that we can direct such fate

When all that we can destroy

are the very reasons we exist.

We will slit our throats with factory eyes

and we will die of thirst

even as we gorge ourselves on lives beyond need

as we spin justification with just a touch of arsenic - 

Tonic Thoughtless.

The world will adapt

As one river is dammed

another will burst and life will grow

and the world will spin

long after we have left it

an impartial judge

wiping away a single blemish

in a timeless void

Passion’s A - Light

Passion without purpose is wild fire We are drawn to it, astounded by its untamed emotion, its raw power 

So it is coveted 

contained and controlled, bottle and directed, ignited and extinguished

By the Whims of another

To create with purpose We tame what we love Sacrifice one wonder for another And to these confines, wild fire has changed As it sputters back to dark, lifeless earth-- spent Or sweeps against its confines and again sets alight the wonder of man

For no shadows fall on flame

And only as one nears it

Can they hope to cast their own
