"...Ah! Do be careful of the water, it's not for drinking—!"

He quickly cuts in, hoping to stop the hapless visitor or whoever was stupid enough to drink from the River Lethe.

The River of Forgetfulness.

Contrary to popular belief, the water was not the Nepenthe from legends.

It is a key component in the mixture...just missing several steps. The Lethe was basically just that, but in its most undiluted form.

"If you drink from that, you might lose more than that dryness in your mouth..."

A beat. "Or actually? Please do. I dare you. Never seen anyone genuinely wish to drink from The Lethe and it not be because they wish to forget about their woes..."

"Ha—! I suppose that's so..." Still, Titan had a point. As the God of the Sun, Helios was responsible for pulling the chariot across the sky each and every day, from Eos's dawn all the way to dusk—where The Prince, as crepuscular as he was, thrived. "I...truly appreciate it, my friend...truth be told, as insane as it is of me, the only reason i do is because—as I'm sure you may be aware...the spring is when my mother leaves to be with Lady Demeter...as per the arrangement. Well, on those summer nights—short as they may be—i seek her out." The walk was a somewhat short one. Not short enough to be uneventful, but enough to give the other a slightly scenic trek through Elysium, where they reached The Asphodel Meadows. Peaceful, quiet, and lined to the brim with the beautiful, white flowers that give the realm its name. Here, those who lead neutral lives wandered. Not virtuous...but not wicked, either.

"Oh, I understand. I will admit I'm the same with my own," he replied with a slight smile and blush, since the other moons often teased him about his attachment to Earth.

He entertained himself looking at the flowers, their color taking his mind back to Mene, as he often called the terrestrial moon.

"Why would she support me in going to the Lethe? Did I do something to awaken Lilith? We usually get along, though..."

Forcing himself to remember always brought the same results, however: unwished memories of what Saturn was best known for, both in mythology and astronomy.

He squeezed his eyes closed, his tail stomping the ground once with a heavy thud to bring himself back to his senses.

"My apologies," he unsuccessfully tried to smile while massaging his eyes as if that would erase the memories. "Seems my mind decided to remind me why I need this."

"...The mind is...cruel in that way, is it not...? It's a sentiment I... understand in more than one way."

The solid THUNK of Titan's tail against the earthy ground of Asphodel, heading back to the realm that was essentially the in-between of The Meadows and his Lord Father's stately house. It wasn't long until they were eventually at the River Styx, and of course, who else should be waiting but the Ferryman himself.

Charon.

The skeletal man scarcely spoke a word. Maybe the occasional subsonic growl or a groan, but Zagreus could understand him perfectly fine. Charon never needed his words to generate a point.

"Lord Charon. You're looking rather well, old man. How does Nyx fare? I've not heard from her in quite a while," The Prince smiled, attempting to start a conversation with him.

If Charon could smile, he would. Part of his face, hidden by a veil of shadow, was simply gone. Reduced to bone, but the eyes...the eyes seemed to belong to a man. White as summer light, but they seemed to look through Zagreus like glass.

He assumed it was likely from aeons of ferrying the dead. Charon had likely seen things come through most men would have soiled their pants over...

Still, out of a fold in Zagreus's deep royal purple robes, he offered up two drachma to the other. Those opalescent eyes flicked to the coin in the Prince's hand...before he looked up and nodded.

Payment for two. Charon's gaze flicked between Zagreus to Titan.

As if to say, Ah. Hello there...you must be a guest of The Prince. Interesting...

Bright red eyes peered over to Titan, "You first...I assure you, Lord Charon doesn't bite. Just very quiet...very efficient at what he does. Perhaps that's why father has him here..."

A God's Cursed Priestess - Close RP

Thalia were at her temple in the Greek, she were the new priestess there, she did her best to keep her role as Ares's, the God of War’s priestess, she knew that she have a lot to learn and that she couldn’t live with her family, staying at the temple were the top priority.

However she were lonely, only a few people knew but the reason she became a priestess was due a curse that a God put on her due the father’s denying a proper tribute, no one knew who it was the God but people believe that was the God of the Underworld or maybe Zeus but there’s nothing she could do except wait and hope to find out a way to free herself.

She decided to went for a walk on town to see how everything was. Unaware of the random stranger she would meet.

"Call it a nomad's curiosity, my lady. I sometimes find myself roaming the different areas of Greece...but during seasons like this, it's..."

He didn't finish that. Not at first, simply because it was somewhat a personal matter...but at the same time, it wasn't as if mortal weren't inclined to their own legends. The Prince was certain but a handful of Greeks believed this, but he also remembered about assuming anything.

"...Simply because i wish to see her, and this...as close as i may come to doing so. I actually haven't the foggiest idea where she may reside now, be that up on Olympus high with Grandmother...or here in the mortal realms. All those stories, about how my mother is needed upon the surface during the spring and summer months...she does wander the Earth, bringing with her the greenery and warmth of the sun...they are true. I'll admit that..."

Zagreus watched her carefully, those glossy ruby red eyes scanning Thalia's form from head to toe. He then turned his attention to the festival unfolding...and a mischievous grin curled at those thin lips.

"Come now...why don't you join the festivities, Priestess? Someone such as yourself shouldn't consign themselves to the shadows..."

...Was he flirting with her? Maybe. Not intentionally, but maybe.

Thalia couldn't help but feel shivers on her spine as he used that flirty tone, she learn that tone time and time again, it never end well for any man that started to flirt with her.

"Just wanted to sace energies for the ceremony that's all" she replied to him as she does her best to remain calm as she needed to avoid the same thing bad happen to another man again.

Specially when the man in question is the son of Hades.

"Anyways, I better see if everything is ready of the ceremony" she said as she stand up

"Ah...very well, i mustn't keep you waiting. Your responsibilities, of all else, are most important," he nodded understandingly. Maybe it was simply the ties to the God of Wine taking over, or maybe it was something to do about her curse, but something compelled him to at least try to offer.

Nevertheless, he couldn't make Thalia do anything she didn't wish.

Still...her curse was something that struck him as curious. Definitely something worth questioning his father over, even if Zagreus knew that his Lord Father wasn't to blame...

Although, in the sense of his relatives on High...he had a few ideas as to who might have been responsible for this. Needless to say, he wasn't sure he liked one of the options that came to mind...

Thalia looked at him for a bit before she left to the entrance to temple, didn't dare to reply, just hope that he didn't followed her at all.

She were extremely tense and nervous paranoid even, but over all tired exhausted from everything, she thought being the Priestess was the only way to avoid her curse but she was very wrong.

He watched her turn back towards what he had to assume was her place of worship. The sense of nervous energy that poured from her was palpable, which was understandable, especially given the poor girl's circumstances...

Still, something compelled him to follow. To keep her some sense of company...at least, just until the morning.

So, to the shadows, he remained as he quietly followed behind her at a comfortable distance, hoping that maybe she'd be none the wiser to his prescence.

As Thalia entered the empty temple, she sighed a bit in relief to the fact that she managed to be alone, no questions, no people around her. She were a bit shaken though.

She looked at the big statue of Ares at the front, still nervous.

She needed to fogure out a way to calm down as she couldn’t let the people seeing her nervous at the ceremony, every movement, every expression was watched.

The temple of Ares was quiet, save for the soft chatter of the festivities outside. It was peaceful...although, despite that, Zagreus could sense the nervous energy off of Thalia. He was at a safe enough distance from her, so that he wouldn't be seen practically stalking behind her.

She seemed so...frazzled? Was that the word he was looking for?

As if she was terrified of...something. What that something was, he couldn't discern...the prince assumed she might have been near the large statue of her deity. Zagreus leaned against one of the large, marble pillars in the Temple of Ares, carefully watching over her.

"Yes, invoking Grandmother's wrath...likely wouldn't be wise. Take Erysichthon of Thessaly, for example. Not to say the greedy old fool didn't have it coming; tis what happens when you trifle with Lady Demeter's nymphs..." With a graceful of the hand, he lead Titan down the path away from Elysium. Since the path back to The House of Hades was never the same twice, likely to keep rouge shades from finding their way in and wreaking havoc, he had to remember the one he took to get here. Through Elysium, he then recalled a swifter path through one of the chambers leading to the main lake the two found themselves at. "Once we get there, i believe it's something my Lord Father has access to. Only he would know very specifically where it is kept in the House. Not even i'm allowed to know of its whereabouts. As if he thinks i'm going to drown my sorrows in it," he laughed to himself.

"Well, that's a story I'll have to ask Mother Earth about when I go back," he thought, curious, as he started to follow the prince.

He shared a laugh at Zagreus' comment about 'drowning his sorrows in it'.

"Looks like that is typical parent behavior, then. There's a reason I didn't tell anyone I was coming here, after all. My mother and sister, mainly, worry too much without need."

Funny enough, the sister he was talking about was Rhea and the mother Earth, neither of which shared that relation to the god he was pretending to be. Selene, the one both shared as 'sister', was actually his partner in crime in this.

"I wonder why. There's no way she didn't know how powerful the Lethe's water is, right? Does she know something else that I don't?"

He frowned, not knowing what to make out of it.

"Nevertheless, despite your youth, you seem to know better than me," he said with a chuckle, hoping he didn't see his previous expression.

"...Mine own are the same. I do travel the surface from time to time; more-so when mother heads up for the summer and the spring. But with only one...stipulation. Sunlight. Never has entirely agreed with me...", he explained, though that was as far as he went into depth with it, "They do know of it...but they do not stop me, nonetheless. Why, the only time i believe they've ever forbade me passage was when i was still quite young..."

As they crossed over some of Elysium, shades of heroes drifted peacefully and without aim. Some shades, who were once virtuous in life, phased in and out around them. Eventually, they would likely go to the Lethe to drink and forget their Earthly woes...where then?

They'd have a chance to reincarnate.

However, it was never forced, and rather? It was a choice made by the shade once the time came.

If Zagreus ever noticed the expression on Titan's face, he didn't say much. Truth be told, he wasn't certain himself how much of The Underworld Demeter knew of...nor was he sure if he wanted to.

Still, at Titan's comment of his youth, he snorted in light amusement. "I guess, in spite having been around for what humans would consider thousands of years, i am considered the next generation of my Father's lineage..."

Titan nodded thoughtfully at Zagreus' explanation of his trouble with sunlight. He instantly associated it to how the ice giants and everyone past them couldn't touch the Sun or be in his presence for too long before they started getting hurt, for which the Sun always felt terrible even if it was accidental.

"I'd suggest heading there in winter, since there's less of his light, or rather, more cloud cover from it usually," he adviced, but then his lips curved in playful smile. "However, I can always ask Helios to be kinder to you. Since he sees everything, he should be able to tell when you are up there."

As they crossed Elysium, he looked curiously but discreetly at the shades around, making a concious effort to stop his tail from swinging to much.

Despite this, he couldn't contain a wild sweep of it when he realized again the disonance between humans (and even their gods) and celestials like him.

"I'm billions of years old. You ARE young to me," he wanted to say, but didn't, already used to having to keep his real identity in secret from how many times he'd gone down to Earth.

Still, this was a god. Would it be that bad if he knew?

But... he was already doing something he shouldn't, he wasn't going to risk more trouble.

"And the next generation to mine, young Prince," he teased in a friendly manner. "That's what I'm going with."

Still, her lips on his cheek was enough to send a warmth blooming beneath the skin, darkening the stormy flush. "Try to rest, yes? Likely by morning, you shouldn't be as sore...you might also find you'll sleep easier with someone beside you, love."

While Zagreus himself wasn't tired whatsoever...he was happy to watch over her while she did herself.

She nodded, "I have to take my ears out," she warned, "I won't be able to hear your voice," that thought saddened her, but she could feel him so she'd know he was still there. She sat up, turning her hearing aids off and removing them, placing them on what she assumed was some sort of bedside table before laying back down.

Maia got herself comfortable, cuddling into Zagreus, feeling safe, feeling loved. It didn't take too long before she fell asleep, she mumbled in her sleep occasionally, the language not one of Earth, the words sounded almost like music more than words, as though a harp laid within her vocal cords.

Zagreus watched with apt interest at the sight of the hearing aids. Something so small, yet they apparently allowed her to heard the world around her. He knew of those who were missing a sense. Hell, he knew of a blind prophet in Asphodel. Tiresias.

He laid with her. Zagreus typically didn't sleep much, not unless Hypnos cast it upon the House of Hades. Most of the Cthonic deities didn't, simply because they didn't need to. So, he mostly laid with her, keeping careful watch over Maia.

...Then came that language.

The Prince was by no means terrified, though he was indeed interested by the sound of it. It was beautiful. Melodic, almost like she was singing...or like someone was playing lyre music.

It made him wonder what she talking about...

Something in how she spoke his name like that was somehow endearing. For a moment, Zagreus was quiet, unsure how to truthfully respond to that.

Boyfriend? Like...as in...?

The words hang there like they've been dropped into the middle of a battlefield, and no one was sure if they were a live grenade or flowers in his mother's garden. This man had faced things in The Underworld far beyond the comprehension of most mortals, even dealt with feral shades being dragged into his father's domain...

And, out of anything this evening, this is the thing that flustered him.

His gaze flickered to her face, and whatever he'd been about to say simply went up in smoke. There was something in the way she said his name, about her expression, that made it seem less like a joke and more something to take seriously. Something he had to answer carefully...

"Boyfriend...?"

The word is not meant to be a threat. More like simply making sure he heard that properly. "That's...that's an awfully big thing to say aloud, you're aware...? But...i'm not against it. Not in the least..."

A beat. His expression softens, and his gaze flickers back to her. "...Yes. Yes, i think i'd like that. Being yours..."

For the first time that night, a smile found its way to Maia's lips, though her eyes were still empty there was a joy glistening in the empty deep blue. "Mine," there was a touch of warmth to her voice, clearly Zagerus accepting to be her lover had boosted her mood a considerable amount.

She wiggled up the bed just enough to be eye level with him, moving to place a soft kiss on his cheek, "and I'm yours."

Maia was so much smaller compared to him. He treated holding her like she was made of the most fragile ceramic, minding his hands and his grip strength. Despite the vast emptiness of those deep blue eyes, which normally held the moon in which the Titaness Selene drew across the sky in her chariot, there was something so mesmerizing about them. Compared to his own, which were as bright and striking as winter cherries.

"Until then, worry not about the length of the stay. Make yourself comfortable, Maia...my bed is your bed for as long as you rest within it."

"It's softer than where I sleep," she admitted, grip finally loosening on Zagerus' clothing, finally starting to settle and accept that Zagerus wasn't going to abandon her.

She was quiet for a little while, clearly thinking about something, her emotions were all over the place, but despite the emptiness she felt, she knew she felt something for Zagerus, she took a risk. "Zaggy..." she asked out loud, peaking up at him, "will you be my boyfriend?"

Something in how she spoke his name like that was somehow endearing. For a moment, Zagreus was quiet, unsure how to truthfully respond to that.

Boyfriend? Like...as in...?

The words hang there like they've been dropped into the middle of a battlefield, and no one was sure if they were a live grenade or flowers in his mother's garden. This man had faced things in The Underworld far beyond the comprehension of most mortals, even dealt with feral shades being dragged into his father's domain...

And, out of anything this evening, this is the thing that flustered him.

His gaze flickered to her face, and whatever he'd been about to say simply went up in smoke. There was something in the way she said his name, about her expression, that made it seem less like a joke and more something to take seriously. Something he had to answer carefully...

"Boyfriend...?"

The word is not meant to be a threat. More like simply making sure he heard that properly. "That's...that's an awfully big thing to say aloud, you're aware...? But...i'm not against it. Not in the least..."

A beat. His expression softens, and his gaze flickers back to her. "...Yes. Yes, i think i'd like that. Being yours..."

"...Wouldn't be the first time one's made that comparison. A demon, a wolf, a river spirit...you're not the first, i assure you."

He didn't deny their claim, even followed her orders as asked. Zagreus sat on the log she'd pointed to with her gun, and in the firelight, more of his features became evident.

In this form, as human as he could appear, Zagreus looked like a tall man with long dark hair, all tied back into a long braid in order to keep it out of his way. Once again, Persephone's doing—as his mother, the sight of his hair unruly always bothered the verdant Goddess, claiming that the act of plaiting his hair was good for it.

The only thing that implied such infernal nature were those bright red eyes, which flicked between Scarlet and the spirit accompanying her.

Looking at the stranger in the direct light of the flames, they looked more human but those eyes...as deep and intense as fresh blood in the moonlight, it made Scarlet very uncomfortable despite there being a degree of beauty to them.

She waited until the other had sat down before sitting herself, directly across from him. "Why are you here?" They still perceived the other as a demon, demons always wanted something, right? If they weren't here for her lover, then why were they here?
