Kitsune, I love her so much, she's not actually a physical being anymore however. Just an idea, a spirit, a cautionary tale yokai and people alike tell to their children. And she's possessed a kitsune yokai named Shinigami.

The possession has caused Shinigami to live along with and as long as Kitsune, but she retains her young age and body. Additionally actually, Shinigami is freed from the control for the thousands of years the Krang were locked away since Kitsune had also been. But maybe not all the way free perhaps, just majority free with some incidents that cause the small portion of Kitsune left to come out.

All of it is tied to a mask. The mask can move on its own and Kitsune can take over control whenever she desires, however Shinigami can also control it (albeit it's very very limited) in certain ways depending on the situation. Once the mask is on, it can only remove itself or be removed by a) strong feelings or b) Kitsune's energy draining.

Once the whole ordeal is over with Donnie being forced under Kitsune's control and Shinigami breaks the mask, she's finally rid of Kitsune's possession. But it's taken a heavy toll over the hundreds to thousands of years she's had to endure it. In other words, her body collapses. Donnie, after reuniting with his brothers, in a last ditch attempt to save her, goes to Draxum. He doesn't see her again for months.

NOW FOR THE PLOT :DDD

okay okay okay so obviously I said Kitsune was trapped with the Krang when they were right? So that would obviously mean she would come back with them.

During her time with the Krang in the prison dimension, a weird sort of bond forms between the two. One that allows them to subconsciously know what the other may be feeling at any time. Which I guess I can say just means she's connected to the hive mind they have going on. But this doesn't mean they like each other. Think villain and hero that team up to stop a threat to their world then go back to fighting once it's gone. But, yk, they're both villains. Anyways, this connection gives Kitsune the gift of information on the turtles, allowing her to go after them, and also keep up with them if she loses them whenever the Krang find them.

The movie is essentially Kitsune trying to keep up with the turtles while simultaneously trying to keep control. Shinigami manages to force her out half the time due to loss of energy, but of course this never serves to deter Kitsune
