Facebook attempts to clone snapchat through “Messenger day”
Facebook is copying the snapchats Stories format in countries where Snapchat isn’t popular yet. The company has been subtly and steadily experimenting with some Snapchat like features as of late. It launched “Messenger Day” in Poland which allows people to share illustrated filter-enhanced photos and videos that disappear in 24 hours, just like on Snapchat. It’s not the first time they tried to clone this very popular chat app. Frist it was “Instagram stories” then they launched ‘lifestage”. Now, Facebook is trying “Messenger Day” within its messaging app, which functions very much like Snapchat Story. This benefited Facebook being a giant company earning $2 billion in profit a quarter. Messenger Day may not stop people using Snapchat, but Facebook could hamper its competitor’s growth by racing to to bring its own Stories to the unclaimed parts of the earth.
