I think the statement "Burning man is the rich cosplaying as the poor" is inaccurate because the rich don't make any effort to disguise their wealth at it, I would say a more accurate description would be it's the rich cosplaying radical politics

Hey so as the economy continues to get worse in the next few years, gambling companies are going to go extra hardcore predatory as people become more desperate. Yes, even more than they already are. You have to promise me right now you're not going to fall for it. No gambling, okay?

This is going to be especially bad with prediction markets and sports gambling, and it's already really fucking bad. But it also goes for loot boxes, blind box collectables, trading card games, and ESPECIALLY gacha games.

Normally I would put this in tags but I was really disturbed when I visited the mall near me just a bit ago. In almost every single store, there were blindbox toys, blindbox bags, and all sorts of varieties of things in blind boxes. I wasn’t surprised by the toy stores, but fashion stores, shoe stores, even in some of the restaurants, soap and scent stores, they were unavoidable! They were literally EVERYWHERE. It really freaked me out, it’s getting really widespread. And in the stores where they’re most prevalent, the displays are featured RIGHT in front of the entrance, you HAVE to see them.

The problem is very very real. Please please do not fall for the overwhelming marketing they’re pushing.

Yes, exactly. Businesses are going to push for this a lot, they're going to present it as something normal, just a bit of fun. But the goal is genuinely just to exploit the exact same psychological vulnerabilities that gambling does. And frankly in many cases to sell you unwanted stock at a premium price. It is simply not worth it, and you're better off not participating.

anyway just a reminder to never ever start gambling. just don't do it. it is mathematically never worth it. don't do sports betting don't play slots don't pay for gacha pulls or lootboxes just don't. the more you do it the easier it becomes to keep doing it. they count on small buy ins making increasingly large amounts of money put into their ecosystems seem reasonable, frog in boiling in a pot style. if you would like to spend money for short term pleasure at the risk of extremely severe longterm consequences, consider drugs and alcohol which on top of being cheaper actually let you receive something in exchange for parting with your money.

My resolutions are to publish at least the first issue of my comic this year and to start reading again. I’d like to not go an entire month without having read something for fun.

Autumn is my favorite time of year; I like cold weather and Halloween. I love winter in theory but the early sunsets hit me like a truck lol

I don’t have one favorite band, but right now I’ve been listening to a lot of the neighborhood. Especially their album ‘I love you’.

This thing took multiple days. It takes the cake for hardest sketch because of the sheer amount of detail and individual items. And then keeping a consistent value in the shaded vs light regions while simultaneously defining each individual form?? Aagh. it turned out really cool though, so I can’t complain much. 5. when I’m bored, I usually end up pouring time into the vortex of idle tumblr and instagram checking, YouTube perusing, and perhaps Pinterest collecting. But I like to draw, I like listening to my podcasts, and I like working on my various creative projects.
